Chapter 13: Dead comes to life?

'I figured that you needed my help, and here I am saving your ass for the 3rd time, pay me for it.' Elijah said while showing a phenomenal use of bro language.

'How about I turn you into a tooth fairy, that should settle the debt.' Ryan replied with a smirk only Elijah could discern.

'Some debts are better not paid.' Elijah said.

"So Ryan, I hope you still remember your promise to help me with that bitch's subject." Elijah said with a grotesque expression.

"Elijah Baros, can you not use this kind of uncivilised language in my house?" Rachel said with a long sigh.

"Ok mom." Elijah said he was controlling the urge to cuss again.

"Ryan let's go, I have a lot to catch up on." He said with a wide grin.

"Alright, I'll teach you the ways of an old venerable one." Ryan said, he was cringing from his own words.

"That was cringe." Elijah said with an underdeveloped smile.

"That was the intention." He said with a smirk.

Both of them went upstairs towards Eli's room. The room looked like a pigsty, really messy, blanket half hanging from the bed, clothes thrown everywhere.

"Did you fight a mythical beast here?, this place looks like a nightmare." Ryan said while laughing.

"No, I just forgot to Clean the mess, I'll do it now." Elijah said while scratching the back of his head.

"Let me help you." Ryan said and used his power to create a thin layer of static time barrier around him and Elijah, he then decreased the intensity of the fire conjured on his palm.

"Don't blink your eyes." He said and struck the floor with his palm which caused the jet black flames to spread, covering the entire room in less than a second.

"You set my room on fire, are you serious? If my porno mags get burned, you'll pay with your life." Elijah said with a shocked face.

"Don't come to a conclusion so soon." He said and the room started to change, the scattered clothes started to get back to their designated places, the tissues thrown on the floor started to burn, only he knows what he did with them, the entire room now looked really clean.

"Phew....you scared the shit of me." He said before taking out one of his porn magazines, after checking that everything was fine, he said "Thanks, but you can reverse time now?"

"Yes, but with far too many limitations, one of them is: my fire doesn't work on living beings other than me, for it to work on others they need to be dead." Ryan said in a nonchalant voice.

"So cool, can you do something else?" Elijah asked with starry eyes.

"Umbra" Ryan called out the pitch black sword.

"Wtf, you have a weapon too, but isn't your weapon too scary?, I get chills just by looking at it." Elijah said he was having goosebumps all over his body.

"Maybe, but not for me, I can control her really well." Ryan said with a slight smile.

"Hmm let me think, did you give a name to your black flames?" Eli asked, he wanted to name the fire.

"No I didn't, can you suggest one for me one?" Ryan asked with a bright smile.

"Do you remember the god of time in Greek mythology?"

"You mean chronos?" He said with a pondering look.

"Yes him, why not call your black flames The Chronokinetic flames?, very simple and meaningful." Elijah said with a smile.

'Hmm....not bad, what do you think Umbra?'

"It's a fitting name for the fire which can control time." Umbra said in a monotonous voice.

"Done, I'll go with this name." Ryan said with a slight smile.

"Now, let's talk about you coming here today?Did you lose your virginity?, because you look really happy." Elijah said with a grin.

"I'm dating Selene." Ryan said, he was smiling brightly, even though he didn't know that being with Selene eased his nerves to a miraculous extent.

"Oh and I am dating goddess Aphrodite." He said and started laughing but soon he had to stop because Ryan was not laughing, which he expected him to do.

"Really?, how?, when?" Elijah was very confused right now.

"It just happened, I didn't expect it either." Ryan said with a helpless smile.

"I understand dating, but how did you do it?" Elijah was a bit confused because things around him were changing too fast, first his friend changes into a dragon and now he gets a girlfriend.

"I think you said you had plans on getting a girlfriend." He said Elijah knew that Ryan was very fixated on the idea of not getting in a relationship even though he liked Selene.

"Amaya is alive, and I'll meet her soon." Ryan said with a calm voice.

"How did you find her?" Elijah asked, his hands were shaking, he never expected Amaya, their friend, to still be alive, after what happened it was not possible.

"That's a long story." Ryan said and started reciting the whole story about the vampire, gods and the immortal thing.

"Wow, what more is left?, you being the bastard son of the dragon god?" Elijah said in a low voice, he was really confused.

"Don't jinx it, bastard." Ryan said with a pale expression on his face.

"Haah...fine I won't, hey can you find me a girl?" Elijah asked in a pleading tone.

"Do I look like a matchmaker to you?" He said in a dissatisfied tone.

"I didn't say that, I just thought you would help your friend to find a girlfriend." Elijah said with puppy eyes.

"Fuck don't try this expression, it does not suit you at all." He said with a creeped out expression.

"I wonder how big sister Amaya looks like now, she was very beautiful even at the age of 13." Elijah smiled slightly.

"Nevermind, I don't want to think about it." Ryan said.

"Oh Eli, do you still have that orb?" He asked with an expectant look.

"Yes, do you want it?" Elijah asked with curiosity.

``I will leave that thing with him, maybe in the future it might work,'' he thought.

"No, keep it with you, make some kind of decoration with it, it'll help you get better sleep." He said while waving his hand.

"I have already done that, and I have to say it works like magic, but what exactly is that thing?" He asked, Elijah always wondered what kind of element can give this kind of effect.

"It's something I like to call an energy core, which was taken out after hunting magical beasts." He smiled.

"Fuck I need time to digest this information, it's giving me a headache." He held his head in exhaustion.

"Just sleep for now, I need to go back fast or my mom will skin me alive." Ryan was starting to have goosebumps.

"Fine." He said before lying down on his bed.

Ryan used the Crescent pennant and disappeared before flying out using his wings.

'Ryan, are you still the friend I know?You are somehow scarier than before.' Elijah thought.

"Elijah is confused." Umbra said in a monotonous voice.

"Hmm.... he's overthinking, but if I were in his place, the same would have happened to me." He said before moving above the clouds with his draconic wings.

"You need to consult Elijah, things have changed too fast around him." Umbra said with a hint of pity in her voice.

"You are right Umbra, he needs help in many ways." Ryan was starting to get worried about him.

"Many ways?" Umbra was confused.

"Yes, you see Eli has been my friend since we were snot-nosed brats, I am his only friend, but now that the news of Amaya being alive is known to him, he's worried that both us will leave him alone, and he's the type who does not open up to his parents, Elijah is in some serious need of family time." He was getting more worried by each second.

"Fuck I need to go back." He said and flapped his wings in a different direction, Elijah's house.

"Good choice." Umbra was pleased by his decision.

Ryan reached Elijah's house in a few seconds and entered his room through the window. There he saw Elijah going through his phone.

"Wanna fly?" He asked, Elijah turned his head toward him and said "I was wondering when you'll ask me to."

"Don't get cold feet." He said and used his now black flames to create a pair of wings on his back, they looked like raven wings, occasionally releasing black wisps of fire. He made sure that the wings were just helping him fly and not using the flame source to manipulate the time around him.

"I like these, such a pity that these are temporary." Elijah said while shaking his head.

"You have me to help you again, just ask and I'll always be there for you." He said while patting his shoulders.

'So you were worried, Ryan, you are very easy to read.' Eli thought.

"Now, try to keep your breathing as calm as possible." He said and the wings started flapping, both of them then flew out of the window.

The pair of friends started to fly towards the stratosphere at a speed which was not possible to achieve even with an aeroplane.

"I can't see shit." Elijah screamed, his voice filled with excitement and joy. Flying was the biggest ambition of humans for a very long time, because of this humans created the planes which indirectly allowed them to fly.

[Static Barrier]

Ryan conjured a very thin layer of static time to surround Elijah's body.

"What did you do?" Elijah asked, he was already very shocked after flying just for a minute, but now it was too cool to not ask about.

"I created a layer of static time around your body, which dispelled most of the resistance created by flying at a very high speed, only leaving a tiny bit of it so you can enjoy the cold wind hitting your face and the light reaching your eyes." Ryan said with a pleased smile.

'I did good right?' He asked Umbra.

"This was necessary to help him calm down." Umbra said with a tinge of happiness in her voice.

"Dude, do you not know stopping time is not possible, well even reversing time should not be possible but you do it, I wonder what the science behind your power is." Elijah said with a pondering look.

'Hell...even though I don't understand it, he should have died in normal circumstances, but I somehow knew that this would work.' Ryan thought.

"Don't fuss over it, just enjoy the ride." He said and increased their speed.

"I already am." Elijah said with a heartfelt smile.

'If he's not affected by this, then that means I can increase my speed, I should be able to fly at a speed faster than sound.' He thought.

"Elijah I'll now try to increase my speed to the limit, so try your best to stay calm." Ryan said in a worried tone.

"Don't fuss over it, the static thing is making the resistance from the wind negligible." He said with a thumbs up.

"Okay then, I will start now." He said and and started increasing his speed at a rapid pace, the scenery below was changing really fast, Ryan was not covering himself with the barrier, his body started to feel the resistance but it was not something that could bother him, so he continued increasing his speed. He kept increasing their speed, suddenly he heard something loud which caused Elijah to flinch.

*BOOM*

"Ryan, don't tell me we are moving faster than sound." Elijah had a weird smile on his face.

"I fucked up." Ryan had a frown on his face.

"Why do you say-, oh no, we fucked up, the army jets will move out to check what caused the sonic boom, we are in big trouble." Elijah said he was biting his nails in nervousness.

"Fuck we need to return now." Ryan said as his body started getting covered by the same barrier Elijah was using, Ryan knew very well that only one Sonic boom was caused, and it was definitely not Elijah.

"Have you ever wondered what will happen if you surpass the speed of light?"

"For that my body will need to be massless and it's nearly impossible or even need an infinite level of energy and even then I'll run out of energy before even achieving that speed." He said with a pondering look.

"If you run around a fatty tree at the speed of light, you'll see your own back." Elijah muttered something he once saw on quora.

Something clicked inside Ryan's head, 'Got my answer, this is not easy but quite doable.' He thought.

"What did you say?" Ryan asked with an extremely evil grin plastered on his face.

"You realised something, didn't you?" Elijah asked, he was really curious.

"Find it yourself idiot, it's not that hard." Ryan said with a smirk.

"Don't be stingy with knowledge, it's not good to keep it for yourself." Elijah said in a saint-like tone.

"Dream on." Ryan said before they continued their trip.
