19 Winner

Chapter 18: Winner

You would think high level players would have trained themselves in combat to give themselves the opportunity to jump leaps and bounds above their competitors and solidify their position at the topmost of the rankings. however, what you wouldn't have expected was the remaining players were nothing more than clowns who waved their sticks around hoping to slay the dragon.

In other words, they are naive, lack resourcefulness, and are just trash.

'I've seen a farmer fight with more skill against my undead!'

A barbarian who over relies on skills, an assassin who cannot maintain a leveled head, and 3 warriors who cannot even launch a successful counterattack.

'This is just depressing, have they even considered that acting without the system support could result in a large increase in combat ability?'

*Sigh*

'Whatever, I'm just unlucky, people such as this are clearly the type to use others to fuel their own growth.'

Rising to his feet, he began making his way towards the remaining five players. They were no fools, an existence such as him, how could his approach bring anything good; it was clear that he was coming to intervene in the fight and that only one of them would survive. With the penalty of dying being the regression of a full level along with an experience gain penalty that decreases the amount of experience gained over the course of the next 24 hours, In-game, how could they not feel extremely anxious.

Subconsciously they had decided that working together could be the best course of action; while this guy is extremely powerful the game developers wouldn't have placed him in this area if he was undefeatable. Right?

Around a meter in front of the five, Zodiac stopped and smiled before he used his mana to surround the five and create a large flame pillar.

*Ding*

[Congratulations, you have successfully casted the spell: Flame Pillar.]

[Congratulations, you have obtained the spell Flame Pillar.]

~~~~~~~~~~
Spell: Flame Pillar [Common]
-Created a large pillar of fire
·Applies the Burn status effect
~~~~~~~~~~

"I prefer you come out now, else, I'll just burn that pile of corpses into ash along with yourself ."

A sound of panic could be heard as a woman with many childlike features made her way from underneath the pile of dead bodies. She had long dark blue hair, wore a decorative purple robe, and held onto two half's of a broken wooden staff; If it wasn't for the blood covering her body, one would say that she gave off a feeling of elegance.

Zodiac was at a loss for words, "What is a child doing here?"

'Should I just wait here for the players to make their way back or…' Zodiac was really at a lost; he hadn't expected a child to get caught up in this whole experience. I mean what kind of parenting is going on now a days to let one's child play these types of games, much less appear on a field of slaughter.

"I'M NOT A CHILD! I MIGHT BE ON THE SHORT SIDE, BUT I'M STILL A 20-YEAR-OLD WOMEN!!!"

Zodiac with a look of astonishment smiled wryly before saying, "I can't see it; well, even so, you are the last one standing so congrats on that."

[Player: Demonist has completed the task Zodiac's Trial. You have gained 7,500 Exp]

[You have leveled up; you have recovered 13 random stats.]

'Wait! I get Exp from handing out tasks? Interesting.'

Looking at the 'Woman' in front of he walked over and to pat her shoulders but unlike what he had expected she jumped backwards to keep a distance; it was clear that if he were to continue walking forward that she would just try to run off.

Scratching his head with a face full of embarrassment he continued, "well anyways, I need you to look up some information for me in the city of troy. I want you to gather some information on the Undead Lord Zodiac of the past and the war that took place between the Undead, Gods, Mortal, and Demons; however, prioritize information of the Undead Lord."

*Ding*

[You are about to issue an information gathering quest; would you like to add compensation? Y/N]

'Yea…'

Taking a quick look around the field, Zodiac's eyes landed on the corpse of the Elite, 'Perfect'; reaching his hand towards it he made a grasping motion which resulted in its soul being forcefully pulled out.

Using the lingering death energy in the area, he began to compress and refine the soul before proceeding to split it into three parts. With the infusion of his mana along with half of the spirits he revived from the deceased players into the three soul fragments, they began to slowly form three crimson coins; with a skull imprinted on its front and a boy's face one the back. The coin gave off an ominous feeling that one would only get after appearing in areas filled with undead energy.

*Ding*

Demonist was feeling a little startled; she had never seen something like this. This kid, no monster, who stood in front of her just pulled something out of the elite and created three crimson coins. With eyes turning a blueish color she focused her gaze on the three coins in front of her, "S-Sir what are these? How did you make this?"

"Soul Forging." Zodiac casually replied.

To Zodiac the concept of crafting items with the souls of creatures was as simple as breathing the air around him.

In this world one could create any item they wanted without having the skills related to craftsmanship; while yes the quality of the Item would suffer, but that didn't mean it not having the skill would keep one from doing it, else how would anything ever get done? Such a world could only empower the capable while suppressing the worlds development.

After mentioning the words 'Soul Forging' he could feel this girl's, or rather woman's, desire for this knowledge. Putting on a mocking face he asked the girl "Soul Forging is an exclusive crafting method of the Undead Race and High-Level Necromancers. Do you really think it would be that easy to learn?"

Realizing she had been seen through Demonist blush for a quick second and turned her head so as to not reveal the embarrassed expression she was currently displaying. "So, I presume you are the latter?"

"And why would I tell you that? For all you know I'm really a High-Level undead who's race has never been seen by the people of this world." Turning to see his mocking face Demonist retracted her gaze as she said, "I was just asking. Also, as for this task of yours I would gladly accept it."

*Ding*

[The Player Demonist has accepted your Quest.]

Reaching into her bag Demonist looked at Zodiac once more before pulling out a scroll and tearing it open.

"I wonder if I could convert this girl to the side of the Undead. It would be nice if I could make an Undead on of the top players in this game... world."

'I should really stop thinking of this world as just a game or until at least I can confirm if I am able to revive or not.'

After walking a while Zodiac began thinking about his Minor Plain.

After Demonist had left, he decided used his ability [<Spatial Portal>].

Spatial Portal: [Unique][Evolvable][Tier 0]

This ability opens a temporary portal to 'Zodiac's' Minor Plain.

Upon opening the portal, he took his remaining Ethereal Spirits and several skeleton and walked through the portal. Infront of his eye was nothing but a Barron land complete with a large lake in the center surrounded by fertile soil without the slightest sign of plant life in sight.

After seeing that the ground has to grow plants, I had the undead round up some plant seeds and dig up patches of grass in the forest. 'Hopefully this plain of mine has the ability to support plant growth, because if so I will be able to grow some rare plant and make a decent profit off of them; not to mention the different potions and elixirs that could be concocted with those ingredients.'

Zodiac continued to ponder on the various ways that he would develop him plain in order to make the most use of the limited space available.

After finishing his train of thought he took a step before dashing towards the bottom of the mountain.

After reappearing he found himself standing against an army of players who looked much like the ones who participated in his 'Trial'. In the lead was a silver headed half-elf, a tall heavily armored muscular man, and the King of Nirvana who looked completely flabbergasted as he stair at Zodiac.
