Chapter 1

"Arghhhhh" a mother screams in pain inside a hospital room with nobody around except the doctor with tears streaming down her face.

"IT HURTS!?!" she screamed as she clenched the sides of her bed until it all goes away with a cry of a baby.

She looks over to the doctor to see her holding a small baby boy in her hands and she smiles gently.

The doctor comes over to her side and hands her the baby with a smile on his face that seems a bit forced.

The woman who is feeling very weak at the moment took the baby into her arms trying to support it the best she could as she mutters very lowly, "You shall be named Knull may you bring destruction to the shadow cast over our beautiful world, and create hope for the ones you love".

As she spoke these words a strange phenomenon happened, all the energy in the surrounding area seemed to dance with excitement as life started spread throughout the room, the area seemed to have gotten brighter and the baby had stopped crying.

The woman smiled to herself in satisfaction and a bit of regret as she watched her beautiful baby boy who she could not stay with, as she softly mutter for the last time "I'm sorry and I love you".

The child as if sensing that his mother has departed from the world burst out crying in despair, the doctor watched this scene with remorse at the fact he could not save this woman who was all this child had.

He stood there with complex emotions because of the harsh life this child is bound to be facing because he is an orphan.

The thought of adopting knull did cross his mind but then he remembered he is barely getting by feeding his family by himself, having another mouth to feed would cause him to go bankrupt.

So he took the crying baby from the dead mothers arms, bundled it up and took it to the orphanage.

--- Timeskip 5 years ---

A young boy is currently sitting in the corner of a room watching his 'siblings' as the patron forces him to call them play.

He was an odd boy ever since he had been born.

He showed immense intelligence since a very early age picking up basically any subject that was thrown at him in weeks if not days.

By the time he was 6 months old he said his first word, by the time he was 1 he could speak fluently and walk.

When he was 2 he taught himself to read and write as well as speak in different languages.

By the time he was 3 he had learned all books at the elementary school level from his frequent visits to libraries.

He was an extremely mature boy for his age but that wasn't the reason why his so called siblings ostracized him.

It was due to their instinctual fear of him, you see the young boy or Knull as his mother called him wasn't just an ordinary child with an extremely high intelligence.

He had massive mana reserves that should be impossible for someone 10 times his age let alone him.

His personality never really helped either, due to him always being alone and the patron of the orphanage ignoring him he had grown to be quite antisocial.

And so he retreated into the world of knowledge and books, so by the time he was 5 he had surpassed most high schools students in his studies.

But today was different, today the orphanage had a family coming to find a child to adopt, and this wasn't just any family no they were nobles.

To understand nobles you first have to look at the kingdom Knull currently resided in.

Knull was born in the kingdom of light where the king was the greatest mage of the light aside from the chaos mages.

A mage of light was somebody who was born with the light affinity and was able to cast healing magic as well as simple attack spells.

People with an affinity for light were typically very rich due to the high demand for healers all over the continent.

Therefore the kingdom of light that he was born in was the richest of all the kingdoms.

That is not to say however it was better to live in the kingdom of light, quite the contrary actually.

Due to the kingdom of light's mana rich lands there were many monster hordes in the area.

Most of their money was sent straight to the military to fight off these monster hordes that plagued the kingdom and the rest, that went to the nobles.

So back to the couple that was coming to adopt a child, they were counts of the kingdom of light, they were very rich and in charge of the lands around where knull lived.

This is the reason why knull was forced to stay at the orphanage today, the patron didn't want to offend the count for fear of death.

Sadly this would turn out to be a major issue for knull.

He knew that he was very magically strong but this came with the downside of having to hide from other mages until he knew to fight back, at least the dark ones.

Mages were separated into 2 classes white mages and dark mages.

The white mages practiced the main 7 elements as well as null magic in order to become chaos mages.

Dark mages however practiced only one element, the demon element.

Dark mages typically started to cultivate the void energy when they had become the level of mage saint.

Another problem with dark mages is that they were allied with the demon and beastkin armies that were at war with the humans.

Because of this internal strife as well as the war that was constantly ongoing, the humans had been pushed back to the far reaches of the continent barely surviving the constant tides they had to fight off.

And so after centuries of war the 7 elemental nations were established in key positions that acted as a magic formation with a keystone in all 7 corners and 1 in the center of it all, the magic capitol.

The formation of the human kingdoms served to create a massive barrier that repelled all people who were not human and over a certain level of strength.

Because of this we had only had to fight lesser demonkin and low class beastmen for years.

Humans had slowly been regathering their strength and we had created our own magical system that we cultivate.

Aside from the paths of chaos and void, there was the path of knull, the primordial god of life, and nothingness.

The legends had said that he created all and so we dedicated our most powerful path, the path of the scholar to him.

The path of the scholar was extremely demanding on the user, you had to advance through not only magical power of the chaos and void elements but also be extremely knowledgeable in a plethora of spells before you could even become a tier 1 scholar.

That was why scholars were the most respected people in the world, they cultivated knull energy the very thing the barrier was made out of.

That was where my dilemma came from my body naturally circulated all 3 energies, so for the past 5 years my body had been being strengthened by them until it was as fit as the average adult and as magically capable as a tier 5 scholar.

The problem about having all that magical capability is that I had no way to release any of my energy as I didn't know spellcraft or runework.

The count's family could most definitely provide me with everything I need to become a qualified mage, but only the magical capital that was no more than 100 kilometers from my village could provide me with the education I need.

So I decided to sneak out of the orphanage and try to leave from the watchful eye of nobility.

And so I made my way into the forest full of dangerous beasts and magical creatures but the only path I would be able to take to reach the capital, so for now I had to train to get a scholarship to the academy and once I was almost twelve I could set off to begin my magical journey of ascendance.
