1 Where Am I?

"A long, long time ago, the world was rich in natural aether. The gods watched the humans and were often pleased and amused of how these unique creatures lived. Often times, they would descend from the heavens and walk along humans in the guise of our forms. These heavenly beings loved the humans as much as they loved themselves, but one day..."

What is this? Whose voice is this? Am I dreaming? Oh, it's a dream. Just a dream. Clearly a dream.

"Young lady!"

"..."

"Young lady, please wake up!"

"Hmmm..."

"Oh Gods! Th-The young lady! Hurry butler, call the physician!"

"So noisy."

Who's making such a ruckus so early in the morning? To top it off, it should be a weekend. My stupid brother was to take care of the flower shop today.

Hearing the cries become much more clearer and louder, I had no choice but to wake up and see what the fuss was all about.

But when I opened my eyes, my blood went cold.

"W-what..."

This was not my house. The ceiling was too different. Why was it so high up? It also looked very expensive, the owner of this house must be a millionaire- wait!

That's not the problem! Where am I?!

My body feels different... and a lot lighter for some reason.

As I was about to stand up, someone suddenly hugged me.

"Oh, young lady! I was so afraid. So afraid, that you wouldn't wake up! Please don't do such a thing ever again!" A lady or should I say a maid, judging from the clothes she's wearing, suddenly broke into tears.

She had messy brown hair tied into a low bun, the loose strands falling into soft curls down her cheeks. Her chocolate-colored eyes had bags underneath them. She looked too stressed for her age.

The maid's western appearance was uncommon in this country.

Who was she calling "young lady" all of a sudden? Who's this "young lady" anyway? Was she talking about me? Definitely not. I was a florist's daughter, not an esteemed brat of a politican.

Could it be... that I was kidnapped? Then got shipped off abroad? Then that explained the presence of this foreign-looking maid!

She's pretty heavy, let's get her off of me first.

"N-no, you're mistaken. You have the wrong person, please let me go." I said as I gently pushed the crying lady away from me.

I could picture my Ma angry at me for not opening the flower shop on time. I wanted to go home so badly.

"H-huh? Young lady? What are you talking about?" The maid asked with a baffled look.

"I'm so sorry but I'm not this 'young lady' you are speaking of. You're surely mistaking me for another person."

Worse, I may truly be kidnapped. Even worse, my body parts were already on their way to the black market. How does one even know that they had missing organs?

Wait a minute. Why am I using another language to think? Last time I checked, I was Asian.

No, no, no! This can't be! With the sudden realization, my eyes went wide.

I didn't die in my past life and suddenly reincarnated into someone else now, did I? Hah! This must be the result of reading too much novels.

Damn it, I had to check. Though I must admit, using a new language for internal monologues felt wonderful and odd at the same time.

"Y-young lady? What's wrong? You've turned pale, please don't scare me." The maid stuttered.

Quickly, I looked around and observed my surroundings. There was definitely no one else here but the both of us.

I looked at my right side, without a doubt I saw an expensive-looking dressing table with a golden frame filled with different kinds of peculiar products and ornaments. Beside it was a wooden cabinet laced with gold bigger than my family's apartment. And to the left, a huge clear glass window that lead to the balcony, a large one at that.

For certain, the owner of this room was crazy about gold.

With every discovery, my jaw fell and my blood chilled. My heartbeat raced faster and faster.

"Young lady Calla! Please tell me, whatever is the matter with you?"

I looked back at the maid whose face was full of worry as she stared at me with bewilderment, maybe thinking that her "young lady" has finally gone mad.

But first, I had to confirm these delusions. The mirror, I had to get-

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door opening very loudly.

"By the goddess! What has taken you so long, butler?!"

As if relieved, the maid ran to the man she'd called "butler" and took the tray he carried.

Along with the butler, a man with a white coat also came inside. He began to set some tools and bottles that seemed like medicine on side table. He must be a doctor. Wait, he's not gonna cut open my guts, is he?

Five seconds later, a man- a handsome man of middle age in formal attire wearing a blank face followed inside. What a scary person.

"So you have awoken, Calla. How are you feeling?" The man sat on the chair next to the bed.

He was looking at me with such a dagger-like gaze. Why? Am I really that "Calla" they keep calling me? No, I am Mai. Mai, the florist's daughter... right?

"What is the matter? Have you finally lost the ability to speak after falling from the second floor of the house?"

He kept staring at me with a straight expression. A face devoid of emotions. I couldn't really tell if he was angry or not.

His dark hair was well-kept, the fabric of his suit is of amazing quality and his posture was so formal. With his arms crossed like that, I might actually think that he was a multi-billionaire with multiple estates all over the country-

But that doesn't seem impossible now though?

"Calla!"

This time, he raised his voice due to me not responding to his questions. Everyone in the room had their attention directed at the both of us.

I have to confirm it. I couldn't take it anymore.

I took off the blanket covering my lower body and stood up. I bolted off to the mirror I had found earlier.

"Oh my! Young lady, where are you going?! My duke, please forgive your daughter. It seems that she has not been listening to her etiquette lessons these days."

Duke? What duke? The maid is apologizing to whom? What's this nonsense you keep spouting about?

Whatever, my confirmation comes first.

As I arrived in front of the mirror, I saw a young and fragile-looking girl about eleven to thirteen years old. A girl with hair the color like cotton. Her straight and soft hair fell to her waist. She had large, light blue eyes with thick eyelashes that resembled a doll. With her small face, she'd definitely pass as an idol. No, she would be a country's national treasure.

What's a fairy-like girl doing inside the mirror?

Then, the realization hit me. That girl wasn't stuck inside the mirror or what. That beautiful girl...

Was me.

I took off my eyes away from the mirror, then back to it again. I did this repeatedly until I had made sure.

I ran as fast as I could to the balcony I saw earlier, not giving a single care about what I might look like to the people inside this room.

Despite the nervous screams from the maid, I still made my way and arrived at the balcony. As I slowly walked forward, a place beyond my wildest imaginations came to unravel. The scenery which I was used to, huge buildings and structures, cars and buses, were gone. The sight in front of me was as if I had been brought back to a hundred years before modern civilization.

Yet something seemed unusual. The skies were a gloomy gray... and there was a sea of different-colored roses everywhere. This place had an abnormal amount of roses no matter where I looked. Every corner, every street and every house was full of them. Yet all of them were wilting, not a single one in full bloom.

And I'm... allergic to flowers.
