4 Chapter 4

My walk to the classroom near to the Slytherin common room has been quiet and peaceful. I entered the classroom of potions that is packed with Slytherin and Gryffindor students and sat in an empty place slightly closer to Slytherin than Gryffindor students.

Mulciber and Avery arrived to the classroom a little bit after me. In the classroom I had the chance to observe two of the Marauders, the group that old Severus has nothing but loading and despise.

Looking at the short and fat boy that is watching his vicinity and the tired looking boy with gentle features on his face.

I start thinking about their whole group. The Marauders or at least Sirius Black and James Potter will not leave me be, that I am sure of. James and Sirius in his misdirected sense of justice thinks that anyone who practice or be interested in even a little bit of dark magic is a future murderer. Of course, old Severus being close to Lily has been a accelerator for James.

For Sirius, it was the disdain he was feeling against his family infecting to dark arts what made Sirius not okay with Severus.

In any case, I am Severus now. Although I won't go against them just for this, I will not allow them to treat me like they have done with old Severus.

I will try to be low profile to the dark and light to avoid trouble, but if anyone tried anything with me I will give according or even harder of a response. I can't let anyone walk over me just to avoid trouble or death. Haven't I died once anyway. What is the point of living if I escape from everything.

Soon all the students arrived and the door is closed. While I was taking out my potion book for the class. I noticed someone sat beside me. I looked to the person that sat behind me. I thought I would have more time to deal with this. There is Lily Evans sitting beside me trying to act like it is the most normal thing in our current relationship.

I expected now that I have prevented my death eater career in front of everyone in Hogwarts before even starting, at some point this year Lily would try to connect with me, but it looks like why Lily ended her friendship with old Severus is way more because of his closeness and plans with future death eater than him calling her "mudblood".

I wonder, What would old Severus do if he knew about this? Would he stop all his plans joining Voldemort and gaining power and influence or would he continue even knowing he will lose her exactly for this?

We listened Slughorn and prepared the ingredients for the potion in silence. We started making the Draught of Peace potion, with how well cooperated the old Severus and Lily was it was an easy practice.

After making the potion and getting the evaluation indicating that it is easily the best potion in the class. Of course, I had to endure Slughorn praise us needlessly and James Potter giving me sting eye because I am sitting beside Lily.

After class is finished, while I quickly packed my items and left the classroom, I saw Lily is following me.

I would like to do this without gathering a crowd if it is possible. I saw Lily's two friends Mary and Marlene follow her with worried faces and a little bit behind them James Potter was pulling an uninterested Sirius Black to follow signaling the other Marauders to follow.

Just great… :(

"Why!! Why all of a sudden you chose to make a vow saying you won't be a death eater? And Why!! Why did it take so long for you to say that you won't be a death eater?" said Lily visibly looking hurt.

I kept my silence and waited for her to tell everything she kept herself.

"I thought I lost you to them, I thought you would be one of them. I thought you would lose yourself to dark magic, lose yourself to power!!"

"I'm sorry, I never wanted to hurt you." I said.

"Now that you aren't planning to be a death eater and practicing dark arts, nothing is important right now. We can be friends again like nothing happened. It may be just like before" she said trying to hug me.

I stopped her…

Surprised, she looked at my face.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I would like for us to stay as friends but I don't think I want to be as close to you as before. If there is one thing the Slytherins and Gryffindors are right about it is that our friendship won't survive for much. We even made it so far, but I don't think it will survive the coming years even if we try."

"We are different Lily. Yes, I made a vow saying I won't be a death eater. But I will never stop my pursuing of power and I won't stop my search to know dark arts or any kind of magic."

She and everyone else stand surprised.

"You can't understand my craving for power Lily, you never needed power. You have never been in my place."

I am doing good J. Now is just to time to take a cool sentence from the Doflamingo Sensei.

"Evil? Righteousness? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history! Kids who have never seen peace and love and kids who have never seen war and loathing have different values! Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right!"

"I won't stoop myself so low for power like being a death eater, but that doesn't mean I will stop searching for it."

"I admire your righteousness, even if it is in naïve side Lily, I value you and with all my heart I wish this inevitably coming war does not break you.

Goodbye."

I left them there thinking about the things I said without waiting for anyone's reply.
