56 Are You Done Showing Off!

They searched near the current location of Somya and Varun for some time before heading to another street.

Somya was so terrified that she closed her eyes and started praying to the god in her mind.

Even after those people left the alley, she was still squatting in the same position with her eyes closed in Varun's embrace. Her soft hairs were tickling Varun's face because of their close proximity, and Varun can't help but breathe in her scent, which made him feel enchanted every time. After some time, when he was sure that those people were gone, he gently nudged Somya,

"Hey."

Somya fearfully opened her eyes and asked with concern, "What happened? Are we dead? Or am I dead?"

"No one is dead. Get up."

Ha...Thank you, Mahadev*! I promise I will come to pray next time with Dhatura and Bhang* for you," she said, joining her hands and gazing up.

When she tried to get up with the support of her hands, a gasp escaped her mouth, and she felt pain in her left hand.

"What's wrong?" Varun asked her, and before she can reply, he already removed the cloth covering her hand. There was a wound on her forearm, and it was bleeding.

"Huh? When did it happen? I don't remember getting injured!" Somya asked innocently.

"Maybe when we crossed the bushes," he answered and tore a piece of cloth from her saree to gauze her wound.

Somya glared at him.

"Why are you staring at me with so much love in your eyes?' Varun asked her without looking up and still dealing with her wound.

" How dare you ruin my saree! Mumma bought this for me, and I really loved it. How dare you!" She started hitting him with her other hands.

"How dare you tear it!" She kept punching him.

"It's only a saree. Don't cry over it! I will get you a new one."

Who believes you! Had you ever even bought me a handkerchief that you are talking about giving a saree!" She pouted and kept mumbling under her breath, "Oh, my poor saree!"

Varun clutched the little hands punching him and said, "If you are done mourning for your clothes shall we move? We have to get out of here."

Somya looked up and questioned him, "Varun, do you have a phone?"

"Yes, I do."

"Then use it, or do you plan to bring it with you to our grave?"

"Hmm. I am glad to see that you know how to use your brain." He chuckled and pulled his phone out of his pocket.

He didn't call anyone and instead dropped a message to someone. "Let's go."

Somya didn't get his way but still followed him.

But just as they were about to step out, those people who left to search for them came back.

"They must be hiding somewhere near here. How can someone disappear suddenly!?" One of the men said and started searching the empty street again.

"You stay here. I will be back soon," Varun whispered to Somya and got up to go out.

But Somya tugged his hand tightly with worry to show her unwillingness.

Varun gently put his hand on her hand and tried to comfort her, "Don't worry. Nothing will happen to me, and I had already informed someone. They will be here to help us soon." He left quickly, leaving Somya with no other choice but to hide and wait.

"Are you finally trying to surrender? Good. We will try to give you an easy death," the leader of the gang mocked him.

Varun didn't utter anything, but his cold gaze swept over each of them, and it explained his intentions to them, which were no good.

Suddenly the already quietened surroundings became chilly. The sudden drop in temperature was enough to make the people standing there shudder.

They don't know why, but the man standing in front of them was sending chills in their spines only with his stare, even if he is unarmed.

"Kill him!" And they all marched forward to attack him.

Varun kicked the first man on his stomach, and the person instantly fell on the floor and spat blood. Then he picked up his sword and moved it playfully. Next, what the other members witnessed was a bloodbath of their own brothers in the hands of this cold devil.

When the gang leader saw that his men were falling he tried to attack him from the back.

But just when he was about to raise his sword, a big stone hit him on his head, and his head started bleeding from the impact.

"Uncle, you look like a Rajput, so you should not taint a Rajput's reputation by attacking from the back," Somya mocked while picking a steel pipe from a corner, "If you are done showing off on your own, then buddy, let's fight together!"

Varun smiled without looking back and asked her while still fighting, "But what if your saree got damaged even more?"

"Didn't you say earlier that you will buy me a new one?" And she started hitting those people who were trying to get up from the ground.

~They didn't have a 'normal' relationship

they teased each other

they play and hit each other

they call each other teasing names

but underneath that

anyone could see how much they cared for each other

because if you listen closely

to every joking "how dare you"

there was a hidden "I love you"~
