2 Growth

I wandered out of the den, I was officially a year old, mother was having pups again. Me and my siblings would have to help raise them. Wotoh curled under my maw, as we laid, watching the elk graze. I licked his ears before standing, I ran up to Father. "Father, when may me hunt?" I asked, my curiosity somewhat annoyed him sometimes. "Later."

Was always the answer to the questions we asked Father. I slumped down, giving Father puppy eyes. "Ugh, we can do it now I guess." He sighed. I stood and ran back over to Wotoh, he gave a yip in excitement. The pack gathered down by the prairie, while the pups slept in the den. Wotoh stood near the river, while Aorl stood at the top of the hunting spot. Father and me gathered on one side of the herd, while Mother was with Woro on the other. Aorl ran to the pack of the herd, making them run, then running back to her spot. Wotoh stood at the bottom, supposed to turn the elk upwards, then Father would be able to see which stumbled and he would take the killing bite to the neck. This time they didn't even notice Wotoh due to his size, they had run straight past him. Father sighed, but I kept chasing them, everyone glared at me. I took a bite at a young buck, sinking my teeth into its throat, Father decided to run over to help take it down, the elk had shook me off, but I leaped right back to its neck. It fumbled to the ground with a thud, Mother and Father ate first, then me, then Woro, then Aorl, then Wotoh. Lucky for Wotoh I saved some goods parts from being eaten, so he nodded at me and chowed down. A twig snapped, the leaves crunched. Wotoh was the first to see them, he gave a small yip. Everyone's heads turned, an enemy pack was on the horizon of the borders, Father growled, Mother ran up to the pups. "Wotoh, help Mother get the pups to safety!" I yelled at him, he obeyed and chased after her. Everyone else stayed, I soon saw a pale wolf looking for scents of wolves who ran. I made a weak yip, to make them come after me, I ran, I jumped over streams, but no matter where I went, they followed. They we're too strong to fight, but not hard to trick. I ran over a log, to another side of a deep hole, they hopped on, I ran head first I to them, knocking them down. I heard their ribs shatter, with a following howl, my Father's last howl. I tried to run back to the territory, but there was more of the wolves, enough we're I couldn't trick them all. I tried to run back to the territory, then I heard the enemy's pack howling, a howl with achievement blasted in it. I glared, I couldn't get back, I couldn't see them, I ran, and ran, and ran.
