5 Skill Crystal

"Let him inside. I'd like to speak to him… privately," said the Chief.

"What! That's unacceptable! I cannot allow this suspicious kid to be alone with the Chief! Who knows what he'll do!" Alaric instantly showed his disagreement.

Even Dhea was frowning at her decision.

"Chief, I agree with Alaric. It is too risky."

"We still know nothing about him. He also cannot understand the human language — the basic common language of this world— so trying to communicate with him is already impossible! It is simply too dangerous to leave him alone with you."

The Chief turned silent for a moment to think.

"I understand, but this is what I want. I do not want to make this an order, Dhea." The Chief said, stubbornness in her gaze.

"Nnn…" Alaric gnashed his teeth. He wanted to say something, but the sharp gaze from the Chief strictly prevented his mouth from even opening.

Dhea also tightened the muscles around her jaw, her hands gripped into a fist.

She couldn't understand what the Chief was thinking no matter how hard she racked her brain.

Why would she want to be alone with this suspicious stranger?

"I will not repeat myself. Let us be."

"Yes…" Dhea sighed. "Alaric, let's leave."

"But…!"

"Hurry up!" Dhea grabbed him by the ear and yanked him outside.

Ru Ning couldn't understand what they were arguing about, but one thing was for sure — the two did not seem to like what the Chief had just said to them.

It was at this moment Dhea walked out of the house with disappointment clearly written on her face, her grip still on Alaric's ear.

She then looked at Ru Ning and pointed at him and then into the house, signaling him to go inside.

Ru Ning looked into the house at the old lady, her hands beckoning him to go inside.

He quickly understood why they were disgruntled, and without further ado, he walked inside.

The two barbarians glared at him, clearly still suspicious.

"@%@&!%@"

The Chief said something the moment Ru Ning arrived inside the house, and the furrow between Dhea's brows deepened.

"#*@..."

Dhea closed the door for them, leaving the two alone inside.

Inside the house, Ru Ning silently stood there, waiting for the Chief act first.

"@%!&#?"

The Chief said something to him, but being unable to understand these words, he only shook his head.

The Chief then pointed at the wooden box on the shelf by the corner of the room.

"You want me to bring that to you?" he asked while pointing at himself, then to the box, and finally to her.

The Chief nodded, confirming his thoughts.

Ru Ning then walked to the box and brought it to her.

She opened it, and from Ru Ning's view, he was able to see many colorful crystals inside.

He was also able to notice the Chief looking at him — at least he think she was looking at him with the corner of her eyes.

After searching for some time, the Chief finally closed the box, and in her hands was a yellow crystal the size of a baby's hand.

She held it in front of her and Ru Ning, indicating him to take it.

Ru Ning grabbed it, and the moment he did, a transparent screen appeared before him.

<Do you wish to use Skill Crystal for {Tier 2}[Passive: Human Language(Advanced)]?>

<Yes> <No>

If he was correct, then this crystal could be used to help him understand the language of this world.

But Ru Ning didn't instantly use the Skill Crystal and instead looked at the Chief, making sure that what he was thinking is what she wanted.

The Chief nodded with a smile.

Ru Ning touched <Yes> upon her confirmation.

Ru Ning was dazed at this moment. The inside of his head was currently being fed the entirety of the Human Language, and the feeling was akin to having a realistic dream.

When he came to, the Chief was watching him with a gentle smile.

"Can you understand my words, now?" she asked him.

"Yes…" Ru Ning sounded calm, but he was secretly baffled at how he just learned a foreign language nearly instantly, and it was all because of some crystal.

"Good… now that we can communicate properly… Let's have a chat, shall we?"
