8 Original: Meet the parents

It was thirty minutes after seven already and Trevor wasn't here. For God's sake, he could be reconsidering their deal.

"Sorry I'm late" a familiar deep, velvety voice said.

She hadn't hear the bell ring, Hailey must have opened the door for him.

"It's okay. You have other important matters to attend to" Alessia replied.

"No, it's not about that. You know what? We should make our way to your driveway, we're already late" he paused after having just noticed Hailey who was smiling cheekily like a cheshire cat "Hello Miss, you look quite beautiful. I'm Trevor Reynolds and you are?" he said smoothly, bringing his hand forward to shake hers.

Seriously? She dressed up for him and he didn't even acknowledge that or compliment her. Why was he always nice to everybody but her? Stupid rich man.

Hailey blushed red from his compliment. "who wouldn't know who you are?" Hailey exclaimed. I heard him mumbled something that sounded like some girl don't under his breath. "I'm Hailey. Hailey Sterling and this idiot's best friend. You don't look bad yourself " Hailey replied him charmingly.

Hailey just inflated his ego with the compliment she gave him. Sure, he's hot, maybe sexy. He was in one of his black business suit, so dark like his heart. No doubt, he looked good in it, she was sure if he wore a chicken costume, he would absolutely pull it off.

He smiled politely at Hailey which she returned with a grin. They both made their way to his sleek black Ferrari. It's obvious that this man knows cars, and maybe cherishes it.

The car interiors was breathtaking, soft leather seats in red colour, she was scared to even touch it, we never can tell, it could be stained by her wandering fingers. Hailey went in graciously, Hailey's family may not have been rich like Reynolds' but she's had her fair share of sleek cars. She stood at the door for a few seconds contemplating to go in or not.

Trevor came to her side and opened the door, wow, such a gentleman indeed. She was sure he did it because Hailey was there. He gave her a nudge to go in which she eventually budged.

The car ride was silent except for the ignition's sound and Hailey being a chatter box.

After what felt like forever, they pulled up at a magnificent white mansion. Could this day get any better?

His valet came towards his door and opened for him, after doing that he went to Hailey's side and did the same whilst Trevor opened hers. He gave the valet the car key and nodded his head at him.

This place must have cost a fortune. Even the Valet's uniform looked expensive, perks of working for a billionaire. She and Hailey strode after Trevor and finally, they reached the main door. Trevor pressed the bell, few seconds later, a petite lady widely opened the mahogany door. She gave Trevor a dirty look and shooed him out of the way to get a look at what or who was behind him. Trevor said something to his mom in Italian and pointed at her, the woman gave her a once over and smiled.

"Good morning Ma'am" she said unsure of what to do next.

"Nonsense! Call me mom darling. And who is this beautiful young lady?" she asked referring to Hailey.

"She's my best friend Ma'... I mean mom" she said in shaky voice and gave Hailey a silent nod in the woman's direction.

Hailey greeted her and commented nicely on her designer satin gown almost like hers.

Trevor's mom was a beautiful woman even at her golden age, her face was bare of any makeup except for the clear lip gloss on her lips. She was what you'd call 'a natural beauty', Trevor must have gotten some of his good looks from her.

"Come in children, I've been expecting you for the past thirty minutes" Trevor's mom grinned. You could tell the woman is happy about her son bringing a girlfriend home.

The woman took them to the breakfast room, she told them she would be right back with her husband.

"Hailey, I'm nervous as hell" she said nervously

"Calm down, nothing will go wrong today and your mother in-law is a nice woman" Hailey assured her.

That she know of, Trevor's mother was. nothing like him. The petite woman who she later got to know that her name's- Camilla while her husband's name was George, she was so accommodating and kind, she had expected the inside of the mansion to be so cold and lonely but instead, the inside was filled with a homey feeling and cooking aroma.

Camilla came back with her husband, George who eyed her suspiciously. He has this intimidating aura like his son's that she finds herself wanting to cower down from his gaze. Trevor intimidates everyone except for her, with his 6'2 which should intimidate anyone, her height reached just his chest. But his dad with his dark grey eyes which seems to be searching her soul, probably digging dirt on her.

George was a fine man, he was an older replica of Trevor. Good genes sure runs in the Reynolds' household.

She rose up to greet the man, just as she was about to bring her hand out for a handshake, surprisingly, the man pulled her in for a hug. His hug was comforting and the way his hand pats her back, like a father would do to his daughter. During that moment, she missed her father terribly.

Shit! She was supposed to bring her mom fresh clothes to the hospital today, what kind of a daughter is she?

They sat back on their previous seats, the maid served their food, they said a quick prayer and began to eat.

"So Ally, where did you and Trevor met?" Camilla asked. She choked on her food, Trevor gave her a glass of water to sip and pats her back affectionately, she wasn't prepared for this, shit what should she do now?

"Mom, we met at Alessia's college and we sort of clicked together, we've been dating for two years now, we decided to keep it a secret because Alessia detest the limelight. And we're getting married in two days" Trevor answered for her.

Whew! That was a narrow escape, she said a mental thank goodness in her head. She suddenly felt bad for lying to his parents, they are too nice to be played.

"Two days Trevor?" his mom shrieked

"Alessia's mom is sick and she wants her daughter to get married before her surgery, which is a few days away" he said smoothly.

His lies sounded believing, perks of being a ruthless businessman.

"oh! I'm so sorry about that Ally, you can get married but Ally, do you love Trevor?" she asked with one brow raised.

"Yes mom, I love him, he's the best thing that has ever happened to me" Aless said, hoping it sounds truthful to their ears.

She wasn't sure about the former but she was sincere about him being the best thing, after all, he's giving she and her mother a new life even if it was done by blackmailing.

"and you Trevor?"

he made eye contacts with her "I've loved her since the moment my eyes met hers" he said, his voice sincere and down a little, his eyes flashed some kind of emotion but she was too late to notice.

Her breath hitched, it felt like he was communicating to her through his eyes and for a few seconds they were in their own little world, gazing at each other faces, their moment was cut short when Hailey fake-coughed.

Alessia quickly pulled herself together. What was that? She gave a Hailey a dirty look and smiled warmly at George who gave a knowing look. For the rest of their breakfast, she avoided making eye contacts with Trevor.

After their breakfast, they all went to the family room but Alessia's mind wasn't settled, having noticed this, Trevor gave her a questioning look which she just shrugged her shoulder to.

"What's up with you Alessia?" he asked worriedly.

Trevor? Worried? They didn't even fit in the same place. Maybe he thought she wanted to call off their fake wedding.

"I was supposed to bring my mom her stuffs this morning, but with the excitement going on in my life, it must have slipped my mind"

"about that? don't bother yourself, I sent someone there already and before you ask about how I knew, I keep tracks of your mom's health" he said

In that moment, she could hug him or maybe kiss him.

"Thank you Trevor" she said sincerely in a meek voice.
