30 Trusting Him

"Attackers, this is what you should remember. Don't panic and attack with focus. Your eye sight should be quite fast enough to read the situation at hand. Even though you're attackers of the group, people still consider you as 'protectors'."

As Veon said this, their classmates focused their grip on the gun each of them have.

Veon didn't actually know what else to say at this moment. If only Sheloah were here, she would have already told a lot.

He was the quiet type of person that is why conversing with other people was difficult for him until someone initiates the conversation with him. Veon always kept his thoughts to himself. He was only comfortable of telling his own thoughts to Sheloah and his other friends. Because what he hated the most was…

People trusting him.

Veon is a very smart and talented person. He always kept his capacities from his classmates because he hated it when people rely on him too much to finish the group works.

He really hated that.

It's not that Veon was selfish… he just hated other people taking the credit he worked very hard for.

Veon took a deep breath as he thought of the situation he was in. Never in his life had he ever thought of leading the class. He always hated having a big responsibility involving such big numbers.

But now he doesn't have a choice.

"The gun is our main weapon. Remember the simple guidelines I just told you when it comes to handling guns," he said as their classmates listened intently.

Veon put on the silencer on his gun as he aimed at the empty space on the rooftop. He pulled the trigger as he shot a part of the wall. Some of their classmates were surprised because of the impact of the gun on the wall.

Veon returned his gaze to his classmates. "Remember, our aim is the walking dead and not real people. Our guns are always loaded with bullets. We have to remember to use the bullets wisely. This ain't like games having unli ammo," he added and the learners nodded.

"One more… even if you keep shooting zombies, you should still be aware of your surroundings. Make your eyes quick and check your aim if it's a real live person or a zombie. You need accuracy. Be careful of how you aim and shoot," he reiterated and someone raised their hand to ask a question.

"Veon… what should we do if ever we lose our ammos?"

"Then we have to resort to melee. There's a foldable spear Sir Erick and Sir Jim made for us as backup weapons," he answered and his classmate nodded.

"Oh, and don't shoot near waters or any hard, metallic surfaces. It might ricochet and might land a hit on you instead."

Veon stood up after he said this and his classmates stood as well.

"Now let's go at the edge of the rooftop. Let's try killing zombies from afar so we could also practice long range attacks and our aim. Remember that tomorrow, we would let some zombies in for you guys to attack." Their classmates' face turned serious when they heard this.

They all went to the edge of the rooftop and let out their hands out of the railings and aimed on zombies. They started shooting them and some were even successful on killing them.

Veon noticed that some were enjoying the training and that some were also struggling to learn how to use the gun.

He looked back and noticed that the supports were also seriously training as well with Josh and Tyler leading them. He also looked at the opposite side and saw the healers listening to Isobel's instruction.

Veon's eyes then landed on a familiar figure, Sheloah.

She was conversing with the other healers as she was checking her first aid kit. He saw her laugh while getting the wrong item from the kit and Isobel smacked the back of Sheloah's head.

Veon wondered if ever Sheloah could handle healing other people, knowing that she feared blood. He also thought how brave she was for deciding to face her fears. She decided to train on how to become a medic.

After some thoughts, Veon looked back at the attackers. He looked at the box of bullets the other group brought and he realized that they had brought quite enough for the meantime. They would have enough bullets to use for the training session and for their escape.

Veon started to assess the situation seriously. He realized that they weren't so sure if they would ever survive the apocalypse and if they would all survive as one big group like how they always believed.

He shook his head from the negative thoughts as he remembered that they were focused on preparing themselves to handle the apocalypse.

He knew they had to live and escape in this real battlefield.
