48 Saved Sheloah

"Move away! I'll have to do checks on her," Isobel shouted as she squeezed in the crowd surrounding Sheloah.

Sheloah heard Isobel's voice. Her head started throbbing when she heard her best friend's loud voice. She wanted to open her eyes but she couldn't.

"Chill! Sheloah's already in front of you. You don't have to panic," Josh said and Isobel sighed.

"Who wouldn't panic knowing that your friend fell off a cliff even though it was not that high!? It was a good thing Veon was there when she fell," Isobel said as she was washing her hands in the basin of water beside her.

"I'm angry at myself," Veon said and Sheloah felt that he was near her. "If only I didn't push her… she wouldn't have fell off. Now she has bruises and scratches on her body," he added and Sheloah still struggled forcing herself to open her eyes.

'Bruises and scratches?'

"Don't say that! The important thing is you saved Sheloah and that she's okay," Isobel said and they heard Veon sigh deeply.

"It was really a stupid move. Why did I do that all of a sudden," Veon asked to himself.

Sheloah wanted to talk with them but she just couldn't open her eyes, and couldn't even move any part of her body! Her body seemed to be still adjusting before she could move any part of it.

"It already happened, Veon. At least you saved Sheloah from the zombies. It's better if she's in this situation rather than losing her to those mindless beings," Tyler comforted him and Sheloah then moved her fingers a little.

Isobel noticed it. "She's waking up!" Sheloah opened her eyes slowly.

The moment she opened her eyes, she saw the stars in the sky. She felt the warm air on her skin and she slowly looked to her left and right. She saw her mom, sleeping beside her. She looked stressed. Then on her right, she saw Veon, Isobel, Josh, and Tyler.

They looked happy to see her wake up but they were also worried about her condition. Her mother woke up and held her daughter's hand. Sheloah tried to sit up but she felt her whole body ache and stopped midway.

Veon suddenly held her back to support her. "Don't move. Your body can't take it yet," he said in concern as he helped her lean on the tree behind her. Sheloah then studied her surroundings.

The parents were inside 7-Eleven. Their classmates made a bonfire outside and sat in groups. The others were eating, the others were resting. Sheloah felt relieved to see them safe.

She then looked at the people near her. "What time is it," she asked and Isobel sat down beside her.

"8:21PM," she answered as she put some betadine on the cotton. She lifted up her skirt a little and applied it on the scratch on her leg. Sheloah groaned a little when she felt a pang of pain.

"Thank you," she said and Isobel smiled at her as she fixed her first aid kit.

"I'm done. Eat your dinner then rest," Isobel said then left to sit with their other classmates. Josh and Tyler looked at Sheloah.

"It's a relief that you're okay, Sheloah," Josh said and she smiled at him.

"If you were gone, then we won't be able to bully someone," Tyler added and Sheloah laughed slightly. She felt her stomach ache when she laughed. Her body seemed weak at the moment.

"Thanks for the concern, guys." She thanked them and the two left to be with Alice and Dannie.

Veon sat beside Sheloah as he handed her a lunchbox with today's dinner inside. It was rice and chicken curry.

Sheloah looked at Veon. "Thanks." Veon nodded and Sheloah's mom smiled at the boy beside her daughter.

"Are you okay," Sheloah's mother asked as she opened the lunchbox. She got a spoon then she started to feed her daughter.

"My body kind of aches but it's better than, y'know…" Sheloah's mother just nodded as she knew what her daughter meant. Sheloah's mother looked at Veon and she smiled at him.

"I'll take it from here. Thank you, Veon. I'll feed her," she said and Veon nodded at Sheloah's mother, a little embarrassed. He left and joined Dean's group after he greeted the two good bye for the meantime.
