36 Do You Still Trust Him

Veon went to Sheloah and knelt down. "Are you okay," he asked and Sheloah just nodded at him as she gave him a small smile.

"Yes," she said to assure him. "Let's just continue," Sheloah said as she shook the discomfort she felt. She started attacking zombies again.

"Let's just make a run for it. There are only a few zombies left, anyway," Josh suggested and they stopped attacking for a while to catch their breaths.

"Agree. Sheloah is almost at her limit," Tyler added and Sheloah rolled her eyes.

She didn't like pulling the group down. She didn't want them to worry too much, either. Even then, she knew that what they said was right. If they continued attacking now, they would be too tired and would find it difficult to escape by then.

Sheloah sighed. "Sorry for pulling you guys down but you're right. Let's go," she said then they all started running towards the rooftop.

They prioritized their escape. While they were running, they shot zombies that were near them. Their arms started to numb because of their continuous attack. Even their legs started to numb because of their continuous running! But if they stopped now and continued attacking, they might've passed out already.

They were already at the cafeteria when they stopped for a while to rest. They hid behind a wall and sat down for a moment.

Sheloah noticed that she was the most tired of them all. This made her irritated because she felt that as a woman, she was a handicap when it came to physical labors. She wanted to match the stamina of the boys.

She sighed, exasperated. "Let's go." The boys just looked at her as she ran ahead of them. They followed suit.

When they were already in front of the rooftop's door, Sir Jim opened it for them to enter. Once they were inside, Sir Jim locked the door.

The four now sat comfortably on the ground, their fatigue now completely taking toll of their body. Isobel went to them and gave them a bottled water each. They opened it and drank it in one go. At this moment, they noticed that their energy was really now consumed.

They were all resting. They have eaten dinner and they all had their own little world. Tomorrow would be another day of training. They need to have this day to rest since tomorrow would already be the execution of the big plan. They need to be prepared.

Veon sat beside Sheloah. She looked at the boy beside her. "You're not going to be with Josh and Tyler," she asked as Veon rested his back on the wall behind them.

"Nope. Tyler's with Alice. Josh is with Dannie. Dannie seemed depress about her family. She only has her father with her," Veon said and Sheloah stretched her arm.

"I see," she said as she looked at the sky. "Tomorrow afternoon, we will leave after the training," Veon said and he sighed.

"Yeah… that's why we need a lot of rest today so tomorrow we're in good condition," he added and Sheloah smiled at him.

"Sheloah." Veon suddenly became serious. "Did you notice something about Sir Jim when we were near the computer lab," he asked and this caught her attention.

"I knew it. I wasn't the only one who noticed," she said then continued speaking. "He was suddenly quiet, standing still when we were there. I asked him why, but he didn't answer. He just rushed into attacking zombies so we could leave the area quickly."

Veon held his chin in contemplation. "Weird… when we saw him in the home economics room, he was defensive. How about now? I don't understand him," he said and Sheloah sighed, agreeing with him.

"Do you still trust him now," Sheloah asked and Veon looked at her seriously.

"I don't know. But he really did his best in cooperating with the class. Let's just say 50-50? I don't know… I can't explain," Veon just said and Sheloah just nodded at him slowly, understanding what he meant.

Sheloah looked at the time and noticed it was already 8:14PM. "Let's just sleep this off. We need a lot of energy," she suggested and Veon agreed. Thinking about Sir Jim too much won't help them find the answer, anyway.

"Good night."

Veon greeted Sheloah as they both left. Veon went to Dean's group once more, and Sheloah to her family, of course.
