19 Luminous Flower Lily

3rd POV

In the humble town of Thare. A place bustle with activities and chatter of daily gossip from the pedestrians. Truly, bad news travels further than good news.

At one end of the town, an old car with a known brand 'Koyoka' drove to a stop. At the tight parking lot nearby a supermarket store. Though, the vehicle seems to be a starking contrast when compared to the owner's wealth.

"So, this is Thare?" Miss questions and exits from the backseat. Narrowing her eyes towards the buildings of the town as if inspecting for something.

"Yes, Miss. This is the town of Thare where the appointment with the Doctor of Babel takes place, " A woman clad in a protective combat suit stood beside her. Answering Miss's question with a committed tone.

Miss relaxes her gaze and looks upon the long road leading to the town square. She grazes the ring at her hand with a soft touch.

"I guess everything doesn't stay the same all the time- better change than repeating the same stuff, " Miss mutters under her breath. Closing the car door behind her.

Her eyes soften at the sight of the town, a familiar scene replays in her mind. A family of three taking a relaxing walk together through this peaceful town without a care for the chaotic world.

Her silver hair flatters against the breeze. The gentle wind gives her shivers due to reminisce.

A question pops up in her sea of consciousness.

Was it worth it?

To go to this length to reach for a dim-lit ideal future?

The endless wealth she has until now, was it something to be proud of?

The family, ashes, souls, would they sing blessings for her? Or spat curses instead?

Miss shook her head and thought that it would just be a waste of time if she thought too deep in the matter as reminded herself of one of her principles, 'No pain no gain'.

Taking risks is her game, the mistakes are her gain. There are no losses in the pain, as she's the only one in the play. Waiting for eternity for someone to come and say.

Miss shifts her gaze away and wears the ring at her right ring finger, "The three of you, stay here. It won't take long for me to settle this business. "

"But, Miss. Your safety is our priority- "

"You're hired by me so my words are absolute. Call me stubborn but, I know when to limit myself though, there's nothing that can put a lid on my capability, " She gave them a large smile before clicking her heels away from the marble path.

"Stubborn Miss, sure… we'll heed to your orders and stand ground at this spot until you come back, " The guard bumps her torso with a fist, a signature normally exchanged between the members under Miss's company.

Miss chuckles at the sight of her worried guards. She was taller than all of them so she took the liberty to pat their shoulders and heads.

"The three of you are silly. Take this money and go spend it on some food and stuff- a lucky day for you three, " She pulls out a thick envelope of money and pushes it into one of the guard's hands.

Patches of stitched blurry photos replace Miss's whole being before turning into metal rust, carried by the wind bits by bits like dust.

The guard yelps before gazing somewhere else in panic before seeing Miss who was already some few steps ahead into the city. As if some magic has happened.

............

Miss remembers the map of Thare by heart. Something which she holds dear despite the itching tendency to wander wild in the place but, she seems to favour a peaceful approach of a breeze walk. Also, she is wearing casual clothes instead of her usual formal long skirt and suit. A cap with a t-shirt and a baggy pair of shorts barely passing her knee.

An attempt of trying to blend in with the normal lives of the pedestrians.

"Living normally… sometimes, wishes could be impossible— though, I could help myself from becoming a mad fool, " She whispers to herself while admiring the subtle vibes from the passerby as she continues to walk towards the town square.

The calm wind brushes against the threads of her bangs. Fluttering her eyelashes against the wind like flower petals enjoying the soft touches of nature.

Miss, akin to a lost flower among the common bunch of beauty. Unique and mysterious. Thorns on her stems and poison on the edges of her petals. Only grown on the high altitude of a mythic mountain. A dangerous beauty but also sentimental. She is either a madwoman or a poet.

If one to look from afar with keen eyesight, she stood out the most from the typical flocks. Her silver hair, her eyes glowing despite the eye contacts worn and both of her birthmarks exuding strong white and black each hue underneath the band-aid.

Despite being a small town, the streets were busy with food stalls when in the morning. People flooding the pathway like ants.

The lively atmosphere was music to Miss's ears. Like a song with a random melody that soothes her mind away from the stress of work.

Though, a particular call for help broke the mood in an instant causing her face to twist slightly into sour.

"Somebody, help me! He got my purse!" A certain red-haired woman screams from the bottom of her lungs.

Crimes could be done for a good reason. Such as stealing food to sate one's hunger or snatching some money to buy supplies for a family without any choice left. But the man who stole the purse from the woman seems to be wearing the clothes of a wealthy man but tattered, which means that this person is once rich and wasted the chances he can take risks to earn more.

These are the types of people that make Miss fume with disgust and hate. People who hesitate in taking chances to sprint ahead in the race.

"I don't want to help but, I feel kind of ticked off today… -Memento Memoria- "
