1 Awakening

A hole with no end,

No way to rise from the fall,

No strength to swim through this void,

Loss count of the time has passed,

Slipping away from the light,

Embracing of what awaits me...

But it seems, I need to...

Wake-up

.................................

"Ha.... ha...., " I breath out frantically as I gaze at the ceiling above me.

I lifted my upper body from the bed before observing my surroundings, which seems to be a neat room. Old but neat enough for a patient's room, but none of the items seems familiar to me according to my memory...

"Memory?" I muttered looking down on the white bedsheets.

"Gahh!" I grunted from the sudden sting of pain from my headache. My eyes widen in response upon realisation.

"My name! My name!" I touched my torso while shouting. Desperate in search of something dear which is lost.

My gaze went disarray as I was holding onto my white t-shirt. My arms were shaking from my state of panic before I grabbed onto some sort of name tag on my chest pocket.

"Elos..., " I said after calming myself from breathing heavily. Looking at the half-broken name tag with tears starts to build up in my eyes.

"Only this... who was I in the past? Was I important?" I became frantic once again.

"Or at least worth of something to someone?" I asked myself as thoughts race coursed through my mind which caused my breathing to be heavy again.

The desperation for an answer drove my hands haywire. I kept reaching for something on the bed but there are no more hints of my past or whatsoever except for my name tag.

'What if I am a good person?' That would be a relief.

'What if I am the opposite?' Then, I do not know. Thinking like this raises the anxiety within me.

Regardless of these questions, only one matter the most… 'Is there someone waiting for me?'

Or maybe, the name could be the only thing I would ever have from now and so on. But, I could not afford to entertain myself with my self-doubts.

I tried to stand up from the bed but the reality is a cruel friend, and fate is a bastard.

*Thud!*

I fell onto the cold marble floor as I touched my thighs with a horrified expression. Worsening my mood as tears spilt out of my eyes, "I can't move my legs!"

Even within the mist of my self-doubt, an idea popped up in my mind as I shouted, "Doctor! Nurse!"

This seems to be a hospital, based on the basic knowledge I possessed. So, asking for help from the medical staff is the best option as I thought that there were no other choices.

I kept shouting for a minute but no one came. Nor footsteps were coming towards my room. But, I have to keep trying.

.................................

"Miss, the main target kept shouting for help for 3 minutes now. If this goes on, the view rate of our show would decrease, " One of the staff members said and voiced out her opinion.

"I know, you don't have to remind me, " The woman, the boss, replied with a slightly irritated look on her pretty face before becoming invested back on the screen.

"Should I trigger the trap now, Miss?"

"Give him 30 more seconds before we give him a little 'push'. "

The staff member nods and readies her index finger on a small lever switch.

.................................

My throat dried up quickly as my chest heaved up and down heavily from the shouting. I rolled and spread my body on the floor. Using the coldness of it to relive my tired lungs.

*Rumble*

An uncomfortable sound gave me goosebumps. I glanced up towards the wall and saw that it was slowly moving towards me.

Fortunately, the opposite wall does not move, only one seems to be capable of that feat.

"The door, I need to get out!" I said before trying to drag myself on the floor towards the door. Fearing of getting squished to death. But, there are only a few amounts of strength in my arms.

Only by then, I notice that my arms are skinny with little muscles left. I managed to lift my upper body but no more than that. Which makes the short distance between me and the door seem to be a far journey.

It seems like I slept too long that my body had lost most of its muscles. A regular sleep does not affect until this degree of degradation… so, the most sensible answer is, I was in a coma.

Besides that, a part of me tried to convince me to give up, but the need to find an answer to who I am... turns the gear of my guts. The base of my instincts pestering me to survive.

"That's it, " I wipe off the sweats from my forehead after spotting the wheelchair at the other end of the corner which is far from the door.

I brainstormed to get an idea, even a small one worths for survival. But none came to my head until I gaze at the bedsheets and my clothes, "But that isn't enough to hook the wheelchair... I need some kind of a decent weight sturdy item, a large one. "

I looked up at the short end table beside me which was moving along with the wall as my eyebrows knit close to one another.

"Good, " I grabbed onto the large plastic vase of flowers off the table. Taking the flowers out before drinking the precious water to sate my thirsty throat.

Wasting no time, I opened the drawers of the end table and found several containers of expired medicines, "Even better. "

I empty the contents of the container into the vase and fill it to the brim. Taking off my t-shirt and wrapped it around the vase to prevent the medicines from spilling out. Grabbing onto the bed sheet before rolling and tie it into a rope. I connect it to the clothed vase and create the perfect item for the current situation.

"Please, get hooked!" I reeled my arms behind before throwing the end of the rope, which is the clothed vase up into the air towards the wheelchair. But, it failed.

The first attempt ended up in a total dump, but there is always room for improvements. Which is an optimistic way of thinking. Maybe it is the remnants of what I have left of my previous personality in the past.

I inspected the bed and found out there are springs in it as I tried to push it down. Giving me another idea for my second attempt.

"Another one, " I threw it up high, almost reaching the ceiling as the clothed vase fell towards the bed. In return, it bounces off the furniture and heads towards the wheelchair.

The clothed vase reached behind the wheelchair as I pulled on the makeshift rope. A part of it tightens and bends upon contract with the backrest of the wheelchair. The clothed vase moves through the bottom of the transport device before landing onto the seat and rolls through the bottom of the armrest, which creates a sturdy bind on it.

"Ugh!" I grunted as I pushed my little strength to limits. My small muscles convulse in pain. Only managed to pull the wheelchair slowly, but steady.

*Wosh*

An unsettling noise caught my attention after I got to pull the wheelchair at the end of the bed. A small hole has formed on the moving wall. But, I ignore it and focus on the current task until...

*Swishh!*

A long spike protruded out of the hole and pierced through my makeshift rope. The long metal smashed into the opposite wall. Cutting the ties between me and the wheelchair.

"Drats!" I cursed as my upper body fell back onto the cold floor.

As I thought, the unexpectedness of fate is on a different level. The panic in my eyes expresses that.

*Wosh*

Another hole opened on the moving wall, In the direction of my head. I gaze into the hole with dread for a second before a dangerous glint of metal shines towards me.

I narrowly dodged the incoming spike by lifting my head as it managed to inflict a wound on my right cheek.

Even though it is a small scratch, it hurts as much as a large gash. Maybe it is because this is the first time in a while that my body feels pain.

Whoever created these spikes, gave me no time to rest as another hole appeared and aimed for my face again.

The third long spike gave a second wound on my cheek as I let my head fall to dodge it.

Resting my head against the second long spike, I gaze to the ceiling. As I witness a small hole open on it to my dismay. I rolled my whole body in the nick of time and avoided instant death.

Now, facing the direction of the opposite wall. I began to expect the bad cases of scenarios, and speak of the devil, it happened. A 5th small hole appeared on the wall and targeted my heart.

I tried to move my upper body away but my neck is locked between two long metals. So, I cannot move my head down. Rolling my body would also cause my life too.

My heart began to race as the adrenaline starts to rush my blood. Causing an unknown pain from the inside of my body. My breathing became ragged once more as I tried to hold it in and composed myself, but only able to control it slightly. Frequent headaches kept hitting my head like a hammer.

In the face of death, the incoming spike seems to be slow, including everything else. As a small memory of mine began to resurface, "Trom-"

A name which is not my own, but it sounds to be something which could protect me from danger. Even if I know that I might fail, it does not hurt to try.... because if it did not work, I would die.

"TROMBE!" I shouted at the top of my lungs as my vision liquefies along with the outer appearance of the rest of my body. An aura seems to envelop my whole being before I witness a humanoid figure appear in front of me.

It has a spherical shaped speaker as it's head, with a fit body of an athlete. The muscles of the figure are constricted by blue, red and green wires and there a large belt made out of the same wires which spiral down to its feet from its waist.

A particular thought flashed in my mind as I gaze on the strong back of the figure… which is the want to escape and witness the dawn of tomorrow.

'This is my will!' I thought while this humanoid which seems to be connected to me, grab onto the incoming spike. Before punching it once and launches another hook.

The humanoid connects its fists rapidly on the spike in a chain of a ground pound. Bending the moving metal as it comes closer to my heart.

Every bash on the incoming metal tenses my body up. The eerie sound of the figure's fists colliding with it gives me a sense of hope. Which gives me the confidence to deny whatever fate has in store.

The pain in my body becomes greater after the humanoid formed from me, but I gave all my best to ignore it. Focussing on getting away from death's door as I push my will to the limit.
