Shyburn smiled.“That’s been accounted for.The walls are actually doubled.The outer layer,the one with the constellations on it,moves in time with Ymoro.As the stars shift in the sky,so will they on these walls.”

“But what are these?”She pointed to the groups of lines.“They ruin theeffect.You can hardly see some of the constellations at all.”

“Ahhhh.”Shyburn’s sigh was part mystery,part bliss.“That would be the Regent’s masterpiece.”

We waited for him to elaborate,but instead,Shyburn stepped to the middle of the room.

“Come,”he said,keying in a code on a pad next to the lift’s door.The glass separated in the middle,half disappearing into a slot in the floor,half lifting upward to allow us access to stand inside.“The observation deck awaits.”

It was a tight fit,but I pressed into the back corner to give Vescha as much space as possible.When the lift began to rise,she squeaked and stared at the floor.
