I bet someone at some point wondered "Arden series? Is that a type of muffin? What does that entail?"

Well let me assure you it is indeed a muffin. But you cannot eat it.

The Arden series is a multi-universal story that spans across multiple characters. Every character has their own story, their own struggles, and their own victories. All of these characters bear the name 'Arden'. I would love to go into a whole lecture about the lore, but unfortunately I would go on for a LONG time so let's just put that on the back burner for now and re-visit it on a rainy day. However, I will say that the story of Rainer Arden is a fairly long one. There are many hurdles to overcome and the Tournament Arc is simply just the beginning of it all. As you can see this is the second volume. I would highly recommended visiting the first volume as the beginning is just as important as everything that is to come.

Now I have to fill up at least a thousand words here so let me tell you a quick story.

When the world was young there was no light to speak of, only darkness consumed every corner. Creatures of darkness hunted with only their most savage of instincts. Among these creatures were the two firstborn humans. They were like all others creatures in the realm, except for one trait. They were more clever than anyone else. The two humans hunted not by instinct but through trickery, and deceit.

Though their cleverness was able to feed them for a very long time, they wished for more. Though there were two of them, they were quite lonely. They looked up at the infinitely dark sky and wondered what it would be like if there was more of them. As they lay there, deep in thought, one of the humans noticed a twinkle in the darkness. He quickly sat up straight and focused his gaze on the location. Then it happened again, a twinkle of light shined for only a brief moment and then faded. The two gasped in horror as they wondered what could possibly be up there.

Consumed by curiosity, the one to spot the twinkle first, climbed on the shoulders of the other and he reached upwards. He attempted to grab it when the twinkle reappeared but he was unsuccessful. So they switched places, and the other human tried to grab it, alas he too was unsuccessful. Unable to let go of their curiosity, they decided to climb the highest mountain and reach for it once more.

Upon reaching the peak of the highest mountain, the first human reached towards the twinkle and was still unable to touch it. Just when they were about to switch places, the twinkle began to glow brighter. They stared in awe at this light, it was beautiful and yet frightening at the same time. The light grew brighter and brighter until the two humans realized it was coming closer. They quickly ducked behind a boulder and peeked from the sides.

to their surprise, they were staring at a flame. They did not know at the time that this flame would be the beginning of the human race, in fact they feared it. They shuddered behind the boulder hoping it would not notice them. The flame did notice them, it hovered to the rock and asked them to come out so that the flame could greet them. The humans figured that if the flame knew they were there, then hiding was futile. They walked out from behind the boulder and instantly felt the warmth of the fire. They loved the warmth and bowed to the flame.

The flame was taken aback, it was confused to see anyone bow before it. It was not sure what this bowing position actually meant. Neither did the humans, but they just felt it was appropriate. The flame asked for shelter from the cold, and the two humans responded in kind. They led the flame to a cave where it could rest, but it was not enough. The floor of the cave was too cold for the fire to sit upon.

So the two humans ran out of the cave and searched for any sort of warm surface. They first tried bringing a a pile of flat rocks for the flame to sit upon. The flame, unfortunately, found this unamusing as it was the same as sitting on the cold cave floor. The humans seemed very pleased with their pile of rocks so the flame did not reprimand them and instead urged them to find something softer and lighter than rocks.

The two humans once again rushed out to find something for the flame to sit upon. This time they brought back sand. The flame was once again unamused, and deeply concerned that these humans were completely moronic. So the flame sent them back out to find something that was harder than sand, but lighter than a rock. The humans frantically searched for the flame's ideal throne. One of the humans found what he believed was perfect for the job. They walked back into the cave with a large cube of ice. The flame stared at them in shock. It could not believe such a creature was so stupid. The flame was so frustrated that it began to glow brighter and grow bigger. The two human then threw wood at the flame out of fear.

Not able to control itself, the flame began to meld with the wood, and after a minute or two of struggling, it was trapped. The humans had captured fire and now used it for their own benefit. The flame never argued with the humans again. It was fed more wood and in return it kept the humans warm.

And there you are, the story of the Flame and the two Humans.

So my dear readers, That is all I have to say. Happy Reading!!!
