1 Walking Calamity's Legendary Actions

Chapter 1: Walking Calamity's legendary actions

There is a world where one can be anything, you create your path, and everything is possible, it all depends on your own efforts. Power both in real life and in-game work together to create the ultimate gaming experience.

It was in this game, Valnir's Ruin, that the legend of the Walking Calamity was born.

-

In the continent of Balmorra. The Sun's Empire and Freedom Hawks, the two largest guilds of Valnir waged war in the biggest event yet since its launch, their alliance was for but one purpose, to defeat the god of chaos, Zarkanan.

In the front lines, where the corrupted bodies of the Dead rose from their tombs to stop their advance.

"Kalir! What the fuck are you doing!? Open the bubble!" Grand Leader Voxxun cried in anger, as he cast his signature skill, Edge's Abyss, against the Abyssal Dark Green Dragon summoned by Zarkanan.

Kalir wasn't like Voxxun, a professional player, he was a commoner among kings, the only reason he was part of the Freedom Hawks, was due to a special skill he created early on during the game's second Major Expansion.

[War Song Dominion], the strongest AOE support skill to exist in the game for the last seven years. Its effect was quite simple, but its effectiveness was far greater than any other skill.

Due to the inner workings of Valnir's engine, the strongest player is the one with the highest APM, reflex, instincts, and cleverness. There was no such a thing as cooldown, or skill trees.

One had to create his own path by choosing what he wished to learn, and those who went a step further were the ones that learned to create their own skills and abilities.

Kalir's skills had the heaven-defying effect of Increasing a player's time perception, reduce mental exhaustion, and buff their primary attributes, making them stronger and faster all at the same time.

It was such a useful all-rounder skill, that even magic casting classes could benefit from it.

"Sorry! I'm replenishing my mana!" Kalir cried helplessly as he poured down dozens of blue flasks in his mouth without even bothering to drink the liquid, he was simply eating the glass containers together with their content and ignoring the pain of drinking broken glass.

"What!? Why!?" Avoiding the Abyssal Flame Breath of the Dragon, Voxxun shouted in anger. He was pretty sure that he told Allys to keep replenishing Kalir's mana.

"I-It is Allys, she died somehow! I didn't even saw how it happened!" Kalir's desperate reply came together with the tears in his eyes.

Before Voxxun could curse this situation. He was startled hearing an explosion on the other side of the battlefield, where their allies, the Sun's Empire led the fight.

Midtir, their queen, was frowning as she lowered her shield, a few meters ahead a large crater charred in black housed the bloody remains of her guild's strongest glass canon.

But that wasn't what made her frown, no, it was something far worse than that, it was the very reason for her strongest mage's death.

Clenching her teeth, she gulped as she reached for the sword in her scabbard. Her eyes stared warily towards the figure of the woman wearing the Dark Lord's Herald Set and carrying the head of the Mana Storage, Allys.

Her set of armor was said to have been born from the very darkness of the Abyss, a mysterious and esoteric material capable of corrupting those that ever encounter it, and whose goals were unknown even now.

Seeing that black metal wrapped in shining red magma that flowed within the runes carved on its hard surface, Midtir didn't know what to do.

The Walking Calamity invaded their battlefield, but why!? Why now of all times? Right when they were about to finish the last raid against Zarkanan!

No! It wasn't time to be frightened, for her guild and for her allies, she would face this calamity head-on and slow her down just as much as she could. Opening the alliance's chat voice, she quickly used the Voice of Authority and conveyed her message.

"Freedom Hawks and my Sun's Empire. The Walking Calamity is among us and carries the blood of Nuke Garver and Mana Storage Allys!"

'What!?' The alliance shook at that moment, the only player that managed to break the level limit of one thousand and complete the Ninth rank advancement, the only player to hold the title of Walking Calamity… how could she be here? No one knew when they would strike, so how!?

"OI! MIDTIR! WHAT IS SHE TRYING TO DO?" Voxxun cried desperately, he had to know the mysterious Walking Calamity goals, since everyone there was well known, there were rewards for their deaths, if she was only there to collect some bounties it wouldn't be a problem, but if her goal was something else, he was afraid of what would happen.

"She came for blood, Voxxun. I'm not sure why though, but she clearly has the intention of fighting us all."

Clenching his teeth, Voxxun grabbed a nearby appraiser and pointed towards Zarkanan who was being bombarded by large AOE skills.

"How much health left!?"

"Ahh!" Hearing the angry voice of his leader, the man cowered in fear as he quickly appraised the god's status and replied. "There is only, five percent health left sir!"

Dropping the appraiser, he turned towards the humanoid giant boss clad in dark armored robes and clenched his fist.

"Damn it!" Voxxun opened the Guild's inventory and took out a weapon, it was a golden sword with two golden halos floating around its hilt and a golden aura covering the exquisite blade.

The [Heavenly Blade] was a Ninth rank forbidden-class weapon acquired by chance a few years ago. Without fulfilling the requirements, it would become useless after one use. His heart was bleeding just from considering it, but now it wasn't the time for that.

He couldn't afford his whole guild dying here in a useless battle, that would make them several months behind the other guilds and force them to level up again to their current level.

He would kill that boss with a single hit and order an emergency retreat.

Without bothering to warn Midtir of his plans, he told what he planned to his guild on the chat and started charging his strongest skill with [Heavenly Blade] equipped to his character.

Meanwhile, the two women merely looked at each other, neither of them moving a muscle. In contrast, Midtir was tensed, shaking, and sweating, while the Walking Calamity was calm and composed, not putting the leader of the Sun's Empire in her eyes at all.

Suddenly, the Walking Calamity turned her back towards her and jumped towards the Freedom Hawks, the power of her legs propelling her upwards like a rocket.

"What-" Just as she questioned what was happening.

A blinding arc of light that seemed to reach the stars streaked across the sky, it was Voxxun's killer skill, Excalibur, a single action skill that consumes all spiritual power of its user in exchange for a momentary boost of power and release of the world's strongest energy blade, this Killer skill was rather tenderly called the mother of all Anti-army skills, the reason behind it being the following explosion issued after the impact…

However, there was something wrong, it has only been a few months since he had launched this ultimate killer skill, why did it feel so much stronger… so frightening?

"Ma'am! Voxxun has chosen to use the [Heavenly Blade]!"

"What!?" Hearing the report of one of her spies, Midtir was shocked.

"He plans to use it to kill Zarkanan in a single strike and retreat while leaving us as a distraction for the Walking Calamity!"

Midtir's face became pale at that instant. The [Heavenly Blade] was the weapon of a fallen light god of time immemorial, said to have been used during the event that came to be known as the Thousand Years war between Angels and Demons.

Its most valuable ability was the skill that required a month to recharge, the [Lord's Miracle] a weapon-skill that could increase the power of any player skill by 10 times and add the extremely rare Blessed element to it, the high-rank version of Light.

However, the scene that played next was even more absurd, a spiraling vortex of darkness surged from the void and engulfed Excalibur's blinding light.

"… Heavens… what is that…?"

Falling to their knees, countless soldiers, including Voxxun, felt like their minds were about to shatter.

Nobody could understand. Excalibur's most overpowered ability was the Shield Piercing trait, nothing could defend against it, once released, whoever stood on its path had to face the full force of the skill or die trying.

And yet, something managed to block it… they couldn't understand this!

Suddenly, someone exclaimed.

"Fuck! Isn't that the Walking Calamity!? Why was she on the path of Excalibur!?"

Hearing this, their morale went down the drain… the Walking Calamity was now capable of defending against Shield Piercing skills like Excalibur? Was there any way to defeat her at this point? She could be crowned a player-boss right now, one possibly even stronger than Zarkanan.

Before their minds could calm down, they were shocked seeing the spiraling vortex appear once more, from it came a similar blinding light compared to Voxxun's Excalibur, however, it was covered in a dark purple vicious aura, it was the Abyssal Element, the evolution of the rare dark element, one that nobody but the Walking Calamity managed to acquire.

When the skill hit Zarkanan, an explosion unlike any other took over the battlefield. One could see the shining purple dome of energy that covered the whole area even from Luminus city, the main hub for players playing the expansion.

Not so long after came the game announcement.

[Congratulations, Player Miriam, for defeating the god of chaos, Zarkanan.]

[Congratulations, Player Miriam, for acquiring the title, bane of armies, for killing every member of the guild Freedom Hawks and Sun's Empire.]

[Congratulations, Player Miriam, for reaching the level cap of 1500 first than any other player, your rewards can be found in the mail tab.]

And so, the news quickly spread, the Walking Calamity decided to reveal her player's name, and in a movement that would be remembered forever in Valnir, she stole a god boss from two guilds, annihilating them in the process.

Miriam, the walking calamity, wouldn't be able to see their expressions though, just as Zarkanan died, a rift opened beneath her feet and swallowed her.

After some time, a young man woke up in a verdant grass plain, blinking his eyes, he quickly stood up and watched his surroundings in panic. Just a few moments ago he had defeated a boss in his favorite game, then suddenly everything went dark as if his VR console had fried or something...

"Where the fuck am I?!" Seeing how he was still wearing his school uniform and wasn't in his character's body, he could only think that he was kidnapped.

Seeing some mountains covered in snow on the horizon, he couldn't help but wonder if someone took him away from his home and dropped him somewhere near Mount Fuji. "Fuck! I shouldn't have come to Japan just to pay less on those fucking games!"

Crying tears of despair, he punched the ground and with a sigh, decided to walk towards them, he was bound to find civilization at some point, right?
