6 The Mural

Laplace looked at the huge triangular runic structure in front of him and couldn't help but laugh lightly. However, his emotions were quickly suppressed. The system had set his emotional quotient to about twenty percent but still it couldn't completely erase them. The reason for that was because emotions were a fundamental part of every single human being. The moment they were removed you couldn't consider yourself as a human. Obviously, they also include greed, lust, arrogance, wrath….and if you didn't even have those then what are you?

A Monk?

Even killers and psychos had emotions. Killing people would emotionally stimulate them one way or the other depending upon their tastes.

Laplace quickly distracted himself from these thoughts. Just as he was about check out the RADSTAINS he received an unexpected prompt from the system:

[Energy reserves have reached 0.2%]

[***** procedure's have been activated]

[The procedure shall be completed in three weeks]

Hearing the unexpected prompts, Laplace was quite surprised.

'Hmm...how unexpected. To think I would hit the necessary energy requirement so soon. It's obviously due to the previous battle. But I need to make sufficient preparations before…'

Thus, Laplace began to form a series of meticulous plans. That laid back and relaxed attitude of his was nowhere to be seen for the next few hours.

Meanwhile, beneath him the battlefield was strangely calm. Despite the LESVIP's despicable assault the HALTEAR's had no way of retaliating. They're casualties were not small. On top of that the ration problem still hadn't been solved. Thus, their morale was very low right now.

Even though the HALTEAR commander was enraged he couldn't do anything due to the above reasons.

Right now, both sides had revealed their trump cards and both sides understood each others combat capabilities thus, they decided to bide their time for reinforcements.

Though, each and every one of these soldiers would regret their decisions to stay here in the future…

The lush green forest seemed detached from the world. It offered a peaceful and tranquil feeling. The nearby lake had a few four legged creature drinking water from them. They looked like deers. However, their fur was bluish greenish in colour. The colour closely resembled azure. Their horns were even more strange. They were larger than normal deer horns. Their colour was greenish and faint green lines were present on them. A dark greenish liquid seemed to move and pulse in them.

Suddenly,a shadow flashed by. It quickly grabbed the horns of a stag and exerted a strength it shouldn't be able to and pushed the stag knocking it against a tree.

The other deers were frightened and immediately turned tail and ran away.

Strangely, that shadow was the hummingbird mercenary. It shouldn't have been able to exert that kind of strength. It was almost impossible for a human unless he had barbarian blood.

Even the HALTEAR Commander wouldn't dare provoke these creatures without the Vampiric sword.

Obviously, this inhuman strength had something to do with that hummingbird which had entered the mercenaries head and the rune which appeared afterwards. The same rune which was faintly visible right now on the mercenary's head.

Going back to the battle the mercenary held the stag against the tree despite it struggling frantically. Since when in its entire life had it encountered some random human pinning it against a tree. But the mercenary quickly put an end to its thoughts as it started to knee it randomly without any indication like a madman.

However, the stag was no ordinary creature judging by its appearance. Even though the assault was uncomfortable, it barely caused any injuries.

The hummingbird mercenary seeing that its attack was ineffective decided to use an even more reckless strategy. It swung the stag by its horns and smashed it straight into the ground. The mercenary despite smashing it so brutally into the ground hadn't let go of its horns. He picked it up again and smashed it into a tree opposite to it and kept on repeating it until the stag was finally forced to use its essence which was present in its horns.

However,as soon as the stag urged his essence the hummingbird mercenary forced the stags right horn to directly stab into the golden rune present on his forehead but even though there was the sound of bone breaking not a single drop of blood leaked out considering it was such a grievous wound.

As soon as the horn stabbed into his forehead the rune turned into a golden aura and wrapped around its horns…

About an hour later:

The same stag walked out. It's injuries were healed and there was a faint golden hue present within the greenish liquid flowing between it's horns.

As it walked out it thought:

'Will he really appear…?'

The sounds of footsteps reverberated throughout the hallway. There were strange murals present on the walls of the hallway. It was an immensely large mural. It was scorched by fire at a few points with sword marks barely visible. There was no carpet on the floor. No suits of armor. No swords. No sigils or any form of decoration.

There wasn't even an opening within the walls in order to allow sunlight and air in.

The entire mural despite being damaged beyond compare was still able to depict a battle. Rather,it wasn't a battle. Instead,it should the struggling armies of both camps running around for some reason almost as if a natural calamity was befalling them. The ground was completely crimson. Obviously,it was their blood.

The sound of the steps grew louder and louder until a woman appeared in front of the mural. Her body completely covered by the shadows. Almost,as if they were trying to engulf her.

She stopped in front a specific scene and started to deeply ponder the message conveyed through this masterpiece. While she was lost in her thoughts a shadow seemingly came out of the wall. The shadow covered her mouth before she could even turn around and made a clean slice on her throat.

The woman kneeled on the ground. Her hands clutching her throat trying to prevent the blood from spurting out like a fountain. Eventually she succumbed to her fate and weakly collapsed on the ground. Her eyes clearly displaying the shock and fear she felt before her demise.

Her killer looked at her with indifference and muttered:

'Damned whore'

The killer wiped the daggers on her clothes and sheathed them.

He looked up at the murals and started to observe a mountain peak. But it wasn't the only one. There were another seventy two of them from the start of the murals till the end.

Some big, some small but all of them had one thing in common and that was that there was massive amount of human corpses around them.

Then he averted his eyes towards the top of the mural...
