2 Chapter 2 - Arcanism

- So he did not take the papers? - Megan cut an apple with a small knife and put it in her mouth. - We've been waiting for it, have not we?

Still calm, the air on the coast collided with the two of them, swinging their clothes to the side. The smell of salt was strong, and the sound of seagulls resounded above.

- I tried to show that it works, all magic circles use equal runic circles, when we spread the magic, it disperses into smaller fragments, so ..."

- Stop, Orion. - Megan stuffed a piece of apple into his mouth. - You know I do not understand Arcanism, you have to explain it more easily.

Orion chewed and swallowed the apple, settled himself on the stone and looked around, looking for people who might be looking at them.

- It's all right. Do the following, release the mana, as you are from the Molecule School, I have something for you. - He smiled, getting more and more excited.

Megan Vidian, a young woman of the same age as Orion. A prodigy with immense magical ability, being put like one of the main heirs of the house of the Vidian.

Unlike all other people, the woman liked her friendship with Orion Baker, whether he was handsome, whether he was smart or whether he was crazy.

Other than the facts, Megan always had fun when she was with her friend.

- Did you learn Basic Arcana Geometry? - He stared at her, pausing for a second.

- You taught me, do not you? - You're so focused on Arcanism that she forgets things. You're going to die fast like that, you know that?

- Idiot, use the numbering number 42 and make it centered on the edge? Orion challenged her with a smile on his face.

Of all the people Megan knew, the only one who remembered almost everything was Orion himself, her memory was something she could not compare with anyone else. Once, she saw him completely memorize an entire four-sheet article in less than a day.

A book, it was how she saw it in situations like that.

- Eh, number 42?

- Generate Mana more aggressively in smaller circles so the concentration is higher - he replied, shrugging. - You call it ...

- Little Prince - she laughed. - You should use the magicians' slang.

- My father does not approve of this. Come on, let the manna condense around the little circles at the edges.

Megan was a prodigy, which she did not possess with Arcanism ability, she compensated with its innate capacity of understanding with Mana.

Arcanism and Mana, however complete, were totally different. Arcanism, used to understand mana, was always represented by algebraic questions, so all laws could be defined.

However, Mana was the condensation of the Arcane Soul, which directly indicated the School that a magician should follow, and also how he should proceed for the rest of his life.

In the world of magic, your Schools could not be changed, the reason? She was born with you and condemned at age 10.

Orion Baker, unlike most people in the world, was born without an Arcane Soul.

The spheres circled out of Megan's hands, and the runic circles formed, took the symbol of the basic magic of Molecules, Molecular Earthquake.

It did not take her even 4 seconds to recreate the spell and looked at Orion, about to launch it:

- And now?

- Make the Little Prince.

The additional mana integrated into the rim circles and further strengthened its strength. The entire magic circle gained momentum and Megan's palm trembled.

His eyes widen, staring soberly at the small change made at Orion's request.

The ocean water, far away from them for more than 30 meters rippled on the same frequency as Megan's palm. She opened her hand suddenly exploded a huge concentration of waves around the area that exposed the magic.

Still frightened and astonished, she looked at her own hand:

- That was incredible!

-The little difference of another school makes a difference in concentration format in another. - Orion put both hands back and looked up. - I wish I could show it to others.

-No, do not do that -Megan shook her head. - You know damn well no one would.

- Yeah, I know that. - Orion closed his eyes, letting the wind blow through his hair. - I know that.

***

Orion left her friend in a small boat and saw her go to Vidian Island. The Islet Boilers were an immense chain of small and medium islands connected by rotational sea currents.

The ocean was a complicated area to explore, an immense vortex was in the center, sucking everything around, pulling them up to its center. Fortunately, used boats possessed magical charms made by families so they would not be pulled.

The Baker family stood on one of the furthest islands, which made the movement turbulent. Orion waited for Megan to reach the back shore and nod. She was safe.

He returned home by a short cut in the middle of a small narrow valley made of stones. As he passed through it, he dragged the little vegetation that covered the passage and out through the courtyard of one of the houses.

As he advanced, he tried not to make a sound, this was the Old Wizard's house, and even though he was old, he listened to everything. At the first drag of the foot, a strange noise rose from the small house.

- Orion, is that you? - The hoarse voice came and opened the door. The Herald's hearing compensated for his vision; he was half blind. Bald and wrinkled all over his face, he was an Advanced Magician whose age was over 100 years old.

- Yes, Mr. Herald. - Snorting, Orion turned to him. - Do you want anything?

- It's a good thing you asked, young man - he smiled, showing his white teeth, the only thing Orion admired in that old man. - Take these documents from Arcana to your father, he must know how to respond.

A pile of papers appeared in his hand and handed to Orion who hit his eyes, quickly.

- These are scholastic questions, sir. My dad does not like solving other school issues or is not Arcane Complex, he will waste his time. He stretched the papers back. - Mr. Goulart can answer these questions of Mana-Equilibrium Security.

Herald was silent for a few moments, surprised.

- Mr. Goulart is from the Germaco family, right?

- Yes sir. He produced the article "Thermal Equilibrium" for the School of Electricity - Orion scratched his brow, still wondering why he spent so much time with that old man. - Can I go now, sir?

As if lost in another world, the old man nodded, shaking his hand.

- All right, all right - and stopped halfway, looking at Orion's face. - How did he know it was Mana's Balance of Security?" Strange, very strange.

Orion continued to cross and came home. It was two o'clock in the afternoon, when he entered the house, he went straight to his room and sat in the chair in the corner, returning to his studies.

He spent 3 hours and he continued to write, even if he did repeated exercises, he was adapted to the routine, when lowering the pencil, he took a deep breath.

He took a book from his bookshelf, the "Ray and Contrast of Light," a book written by an Arche-Magician named Cristofer Megolom.

After a few minutes reading, two rings came from the door.

- Hi Dad. Welcome back.

No answers, as always. Oliver Baker was influential even from one family dishonored, it was common for the other six families to call him to meetings every day.

Two more knock on the door.

- Come in, Dad.

The door opened, Oliver appeared carrying his cane with a certain tiredness on his face. He did not come in, but his heavy stare was already telling Orion a lot. Something was wrong.

- Come into the living room.

Orion stood up quickly, startled by the request. He walked behind his father without saying a single word. When they reached the room, the boy swallowed the dry one.

- Orion, this is Mr. Felipe Vidian, and this is your daughter ... Megan Vidian.

Orion swallowed, but held his solemn posture.
