32 Death Qi

When Drrak consumed me, I floated in moving world of darkness. Drrak was near me, as I floated and we shuttled through space. This was an advantage of Drrak being my shadow, as he a higher level void being he could act as a bridge for me. By finding the spatial node earlier, all Drrak had to do was shatter it.

He exists both in this world and the outside world. With a general idea of the way out from Carol, he was able to reverse engineer it. Then he acted like a moderator and shuttled us through. My eyes slowly opened as I saw a pleasant sight. Raynard and Carol were arguing with each other, the nobles and commoners were yelling at each other, and Teacher Elton looked on in curiosity.

When he saw that I was awake he gestured with his hand to be quiet. The crowd quickly quieted because of Teacher Elton's intimidating presence.

"Lucas, did you see anything suspicious in the formation?" Teacher Elton asked

"None at all, I just fought 1 hobgoblin by myself," I said with feigned ignorance

"hmm...." Teacher Elton muttered as he thought in silence

"But Teacher Elton they were far too organized, there is definitely someone manipulating the goblins," Raynard said as he got closer to Teacher Elton.

Earlier he wanted to report about the person behind the scenes for benefits. But his weapon lost its spirituality now, it was about regaining what was lost. As Raynard spoke I smiled at Carol much to her surprise. For a moment she thought I had come around and learned better. That I had improved and would listen to her without disrespecting her.

So she lightly smiled back at me, Raynard walked back to let Teacher Elton think. When he looked over at Carol smiling, his heart chilled. He followed Carol's line of sight and saw I was smiling at her. His face distorted in anger at not me but Carol. He was screwed both times he tried to mess with me. So he decided to divert his anger to a more suitable target.

"You bitch, are you responsible for everything?" Raynard said to Carol

Although Carol's family engaged her and she was happy to marry Raynard. She wouldn't allow her lesser status to allow him to insult her. I had calculated that based on her interactions with me.

"What did you say, Raynard?" She said as she subtly hinted at her anger

"I asked you, did you plan that shit with Lucas?" Raynard accused

"Oh, and how would I do that?" She said mockingly

"By working with Lucas of course, and the person who could speak beast script," Raynard growled

I was so gleeful at that comment, it's going even better than I thought.

'They already separated me from the beast script user. The most important part though was Raynard was using his specialty, arrogant stupidity. Without it, I wouldn't have such a great performance to watch though.'

"I had nothing to do with it, and at least if you want to run you big mouth; bring evidence as big or just shut up." Carol angrily responded

"Oh evidence ahahahha, Why were you smiling at each other?" Raynard chuckled trying to hold back his anger

"We reconciled our differences and decided to work together." She said as she smiled at me

I quickly responded to add oil to the raging fire that was Raynard.

"Indeed, I couldn't resist the charms of your beautiful lady. So I buried the hatchet, I can bury you as well if you try anything." I said as I chuckled

"Oh stop," Carol said shyly as she waved me off. She moved her brown locks from her face, and smiled with a light blush on her face, trying to look coy to anger Raynard and charm me.

With that Raynard said something he couldn't regret more.

"You need evidence hehe, How did you conveniently survive long enough for the safe word to work? But I was conveniently killed before it worked and lost my weapon hmmm?" He said all that in a yelling and stressed voice

'You Gallius Raynard are my lucky star, all I say are a few words and you do as I desire. Even if I say nothing you will do as I want.' I thought as my heart felt full of joy

But in turn, Carol's face turned pale. Teacher Elton stopped thinking his face darkened as he stood up.

"That will be enough, you especially Raynard." Teacher Elton said while stressing Raynard as he spoke

Raynard just realized the consequences of his action, as his demeanor lowered as became lowly. This was an advantage of human nature, quick to anger but fearful of danger. To Raynard I am a danger, he won't want to directly fight me anymore. But his anger was through the roof he had to direct it somewhere.

Why not his loving girlfriend and future wife? She should be able to handle his anger is probably what he thought in his mind. Or she is no danger to him, even if I completely offend her with his anger. But his girlfriend's pride is through the roof, no way she would accept Raynard's behavior.

'Oh this is just too perfect, Drrak why aren't you enjoying this.' I said to Drrak

'I couldn't care less about mortal affairs?' Drrak said arrogantly

'What the hell do you all day then? Aren't you bored out your mind?' I asked

But Drrak didn't respond he just went back to doing whatever it is he does.

"Lucas you have done especially well. You score 1165 this time, for increasing your rank by over 350 in a month. I will be doubling your monthly income, and giving you 2 hours in the Code Fane."

"Thank you, teacher Elton," I said as I bowed

Carol was surprised and so was Raynard, 1165 was incredible and was a record made only by pinnacle genius' of an Era. The way Carol looked at me became heated as she gazed at me. I could feel her ambitious eyes, but my heart was already dead from Anna. I hadn't even registered it as anything important, I saw it as a point of manipulation and a possible threat.

'Only power is king, everything is bullcrap.' I said as it the words resounded in my heart.

"Since you are no longer a rookie, I can ask you this now. Are you willing to be my first disciple?" Elton kindly said

I acted surprised and responded quickly

"Yes, Teacher Elton I would love to be your disciple," I said as I did a bow to him

He smiled appreciatively as his face calmed from it's angered version from before.

"Some of you will no longer be allowed in the academy. Go to job registration for further information."

As he said that the faces of the nobles and commoners. Especially John's grew pale, internally I was smiling but I kept a cold facade.

"But teacher Elton we didn't have any fairness, yet even Raynard would remain?" John said

Teacher Elton didn't even bother to respond he just looked at John. But with his stare, he overwhelmed him with his presence, as John's mind wandered. He looked out into space quietly as Teacher Elton looked away.

'I am surprised he only recruited me now, I guess the rookie rules get in the way.' I thought

"I hope all of you get some class." Teacher Elton said in quiet anger

Then he jumped and gained speed, he grabbed me and we moved away. I was being held by teacher Elton, he was moving so fast everything seemed like a blur. I could only feel the wind burn my skin, but I was used to the burning sensation. We flew to the gate of the academy and jumped over the walls. Then Elton turned around again and blasted at the iron gate, he took out his medallion as a portal started to open in front of the gate.

After we entered I saw various flying people and carriages approaching a massive palace. A few people were riding winged beasts as the stopped near the palace. The black armored guards would verify each person before allowing entry. We entered without the guard stopping us, we went the largest house in the teacher's area. Teacher Elton stopped running and put me down.

"I want you to meet some people, and also meet my grandfather and your Grandmaster," Elton said solemnly

I didn't respond there was no point in saying more than necessary. So I just quietly listened to whatever Teacher Elton said. We entered the house and saw a few teachers and students with them. All around the room, and there were waiters serving food. Even a table with foods that were being served, I looked around and saw a stand at the front.

'Some kind of banquet I assume.'

I looked around and saw Brian he smiled and waved but that wasn't what caught my attention. It was behind him, a middle-aged man. He had a powerful burning aura around him, but to me, something felt wrong. I couldn't quite put my finger on it and then Drrak answered.

'Shit, be careful Lucas' that guy made a deal with a demon. Also, it wasn't just any demon, it was something at the level of an utmost demon. I can't hide the death qi on me from him...'
