4 Moving Up in the Competition

He swatted shards of ice out of the air as hundreds were projected at them by a blizzard in the arena. He placed his black aura hands on the floor and the storm died down. The two mages in front of them were very powerful, using the Aqua and Frozen tomes to perfection.

"Aqua tome, Tidal wave."

"Frozen tome, Create Golem," The wave froze and a massive figure of ice burst from the frozen wave, "Kill them," A massive frozen blade slammed into Simeon, sending him crashing to the floor, leaving Julia alone. He saw that the Frozen mage was acting out the golem's movements. He looked back at Julia, who dodged the downwards strike of the golem. He got up and sprinted at the mages, who had ignored him.

He speared the frozen mage from behind, causing the golem to fall to the floor, "Surprise," He lifted the mage up and suplexed her to the floor, causing the golem to shatter as her focus was broken. A water pulse sent him away from her but barely hurt him. He had both the golden and black auras.

"Air tome, Gale Force!" He turned and saw Julia casting a spell, a massive gust of wind launched the blocks and bit of ice towards them. They were projected back as the massive force picked them from the floor.

All three of them were on the floor. He rolled onto his stomach before pushing up slowly, "Pain tome, Agony," The pain made him stand and then feel weak, "Pain tome, Agony, Agony, Agony," He reeled his head back, fell to one knee and screamed as his body throbbed before he felt light. He got up once more and was met by Julia, who had run over to him.

"Are you okay? Simeon? I am sorry."

"I am fine," He said even if his body was beat, "What are you doing? Finish them, I don't have any spells left."

"What? We already won, did you not hear the countdown?"

"No, I used Agony 4 times."

"Oh god, you are crazy."

"I know," He chuckled as the two medical team doctors came up to him and began bombarding him with questions, "How about you slow down a little?"

"Sorry, Simeon."

They sat down together in the interview room once more. A different report cane in, "Before we start, I must say that was an amazing match, you demolished them with that Gale Force using the broken golem to eliminate both of them in the first round."

"Yeah, well, like yesterday, I wasn't doing any of the dirty work, I only polished them off."

"You were really impressive, dodging the golem without your support mage's help," She looked offended, "How do you feel about you chances moving on?"

"First of all, like yesterday's interview, you are completely ignoring the fact that there are 2 mages here and also that he is the one who stopped the golem cast and took the brunt of the damage they dished out, second, I trusted in him to do something, so I only had to dodge once, I don't understand how people can't recognise the work a support mage has to put in to not get recognition at all."

"And about you chances? What do you think?" She went to get angry at him but Simeon stopped her.

"I think that we are capable of going very far," Simeon spoke, "And that if we were to make it, it would be a duo effort, unlike you believe, support does matter in the hardest moments."

"Well, thank you, I hope that you two go far in the competition and that you live up to the hype that your duo has gathered."

Julia slammed her fist into the table making him jump, "Ah! Why do you have to care so little?"

"About?"

"The interview, what else would I be talking about?"

"I don't know."

"Yes, yes you do."

"Because I am fine with you having the spotlight."

"Oh, um, but still, I don't want you to be overshadowed by me."

"Well, not much we can do about that."

They were standing in the arena, waiting for the quarter finals to start. They had won their four previous matches, and now they were going to face the Arcane Sisters, two daughters of the leader of the Arcane Angels. He spat towards them as the bell rang, "Pain tome, Unbroken Will."

"Air Tome, Ultimate Bolt," He hurled Julia's spear at them but it vanished, "What?" He shoved her to the floor as a spell slammed into him, "Simeon!"

"Pain Tome, Spirit Break," He reduced the spell and then laughed, "I thought Nullifying Orbs weren't allowed," His comment made one of the sister look uneasy. They seemed to have lost their game plan as they began focusing him. Two swirling spells hit him and shattered in his hands. Julia was up and launched a hail of arrows towards the sisters but all it did was to prove his point further. His body began beaming with energy, "Pain Tome, Unforgiving Rage," Swatting a spell from the air, he drew their attention as he simply walked towards them. He smiled as another combination spell was fired at him. He leaned down and slammed into the large cast and then hugged it before spinning and throwing it back at them. It fizzled as it neared them, as did Julia's spear and arrows, "Cheat all you like, you can't make me quit!" He began sprinting towards them and noticed the faint blue aura near them. He knew that his magic could enter it, being non-offensive, "Julia, give me an ultimate bolt!" She nodded and pointed to where she was going to throw it. He leapt and grabbed onto the spear with his left hand before a spell knocked him back. He rolled on the floor, dodging another spell. He sprinted towards them as a golden book formed in Julia's left hand and a spell formed in the other. He broke into the barrier with the spear intact. He slammed it into the ground and it knocked both of the sisters and himself away from it. He rolled and got up quickly and watched the sisters. One of them panicked more than the other, "Can you arrow them, Julia?"

"Will do," A hail of arrows was created as her other spell finished forming. Only one of them was protected by the arrows, the other created a wall of flames that destroyed the arrows, "I'll hit her, get the other one."

"You do that," He began running once more as the ultimate storm bolt flew towards the sister that was unprotected. He lowered his shoulder and simply tackled the other sister, taking her off of her feet and bringing her to the floor. The spell that Julia had launched hit the other sister as the bell rang.

He walked over to a referee, "Hey, can you check the sisters?"

"What seems to be the problem?"

"I think that one of them is cheating, nullifying orb."

"Very well, that is a serious accusation, I will check both of them, and then give the information to the judges."

"Thanks."

He stood next to Julia as the second round was going to start, but before the bell rang, a voice came over the loudspeaker, "The winners of this round, due to a disqualification for illegal tampering with a match, are Simeon and Julia of the VSM, they shall be moving to the semi finals of the competition."
