5 Dreaded Situation

They stood next to each other in the arena the next day. There were more people than before, with the arena completely packed. Their opponents, standing opposite from them, were last year's winners, two simply remarkable mages, they used a Hellish Tome and a Summoning Tome, two powerful fire based tomes. They were both friends but were extremely competitive with each other, meaning that they often like to gamble to make a better move than the other. As soon as the bell rang the ground began shaking, "Julia! Move!" Simeon shouted as a massive hand emerged from the ground, "They are combining their spells! Pain Tome, Unbroken Will, Pain Tome, Spirit Break," He blocked the other hand that emerged from the round, but it pushed down on him so much that the ground beneath his feet cracked and cratered. He pushed it aside and moved back towards Julia as a large beast emerged from the ground. It was a Archdemon, a spell that was a combination of a Hell Blaze and Summon Demon, two spells that were hard to control. It had two massive arms that were covered in rusty looking armor. It roared at them before swinging at Simeon. Its arm hit him, but bounce back, "You are a spell, I don't care about them."

"Air Tome, Whirling Winds," Heavy Winds began moving sand in the arena, hiding both him and Julia from sight from the Demon and the two other mages. A large ball of flames slammed into Simeon but only faded without exploding. The demon swung its hand down and cracked the stones beneath it, "Air Tome, Ultimate Bolt, I'll use it, you focus on protecting," A massive hand of flames slammed into her causing the sandstorm to fade, he never saw it coming. He rushed over to her and blocked another spell, "Simeon, it hurts," She said grimacing. He put his hands up, standing in front of her as the two mages stopped.

"Can you agree to let her leave without hitting her more?"

"Of course, we are good sports," The demon vanished, "Is she all right?"

"I don't know," He knelt down near her as the countdown neared zero, "Pain Tome, Split-Pain."

"Well, we will allow her to only be hit with that spell," The other one spoke, "You are next, you know."

"Simeon, just give up, you, you don't have enough spells to get through all three rounds," She said as the medical team rushed in, "Trust me."

"No, you need to trust me, I will get us to the finals, no matter what, I don't want to let you down, and," He chuckled, "When have I ever let you down?"

"Never."

He stood alone as the two mages stared him down. Julia was out of the fight, taken out on a stretcher and was probably still following the match from somewhere, watching him, "Pain Tome, Gloom," Black filled the whites of his eyes and his eyes went from brown to golden, "Pain Tome, Unforgiving Rage, Pain Tome, Spirit Break, Pain Tome, Unbroken Will, Pain Tome, Unforgiving Rage," His heart rate increased as adrenaline began pumping into his body to counteract his pain. One of the mages, Killian, fired a large hand of flames at him, the same spell that had hit Julia. He stood still and let the flames engulf him. The crowd gasped as the flames faded, he was standing still, with his hand out as a flame died in his hand. He glared at them as they seemed to take him a little more seriously, "I don't get affected by your magic, you should've done your homework," He began walking towards them, slowly, as several balls of fire appeared around Killian before flying towards Simeon. They slammed into him, engulfing him in flames once more. Smoke cleared to reveal Simeon still standing, only have been pushed back as he crushed a ball of flames in his hands.

A massive snake lunged at him out of nowhere. He ducked under the attack before slamming his fist into the beast's soft underbelly before it crumbled to pieces, broken by his Spirit Break, "Pain Tome, Unforgiving Rage," Another hand of fire flew at him but missed him as he knocked it off path and it exploded on the ground, "7, only 15 left, 3 more summons and 12 more flames," He mumbled as he blocked another spell with his left hand, "They will probably use ultimate spells now."

"Hellish Tome, Overburn," He instantly looked at Killian, "Hellish Tome, Incendiary Storm," A red and black, swirling cloud formed above Simeon as fire began raining down on him.

"14 flames left," He grabbed a ball of flames as it fell before hurling it at the two mages, "Come on! Fight me!" He began running towards them as fire rained down around him. He dived out of the way of a Frozen Spirit cast, "2 summons," He mumbled. He began nearing them but a massive creature burst from the ground and flung him back. He landed and quickly got to his feet as a massive burning golem stood above him, "1 summon, 13 flames," He threw a punch as the golem did the same. Their fists collided and stopped, knocking up sand with the shock wave of the collision. He kept the creature locked in a stalemate with him but a ball of flames sent him flying to the side, causing him to tumble in the sand, "12 flames, 1 summon," He got up quickly and blocked the tail of the massive creature, "You are but a spell, to me, you are nothing!" He drove his right hand into the creatures tail, and just like the snake, it crumbled to dust. The red blood on his hand faded off as he turned back to the mages. He broke into a sprint as two fire spells were cast simultaneously, "10 flames, 1 summon" He turned slightly sideways and broke through the large fire spells, both were Hell Grasp casts, stronger hands than the one that hit Julia, but hard to hit on more mobile targets than Simeon. He shrugged them off as he continued to power forwards. Another creature appeared out of a tear in the air and slammed into him, sending him off course, "0 summons left, only 10 flames," He flung the beast off of him as more flames hit him, "9 flames, Pain Tome, Spirit Break," He drove his hand down onto the beast's throat and pushed his fingers into it and then ripped out anything he could making it crumble to dust like the ones before, "Pain Tome, Unbroken Will, Pain Tome, Unforgiving Rage, 3 pains" Another fire spell hit him as the bell rang, "9 flames."

He breathed heavily as adrenaline kept pumping through his body, his Gloom spell had faded so his pain was sharper than before, but he had to wait until the start of the next round to use it again. He move restlessly as the bell rang, "Pain Tome, Gloom, Pain Tome, Unforgiving Rage, Pain Tome, Spirit Break, Pain Tome, Unbroken Will, Pain Tome, Unforgiving Rage," He began moving towards the two mages once more.

"Hellish Tome, Blaze Tornado," A whirlwind of fire formed around him. His golden eyes looked around at the flames and he simply placed his hand forwards, destroying the spell.

"8 flames."

"Hellish Tome, Ultimate Inferno!" Flames swirled into a ball in front of Killian's hand as Roger simply looked on as Simeon glared at them with his black and gold eyes. Each of his steps seemed to make them more nervous. A massive fireball was now formed in front of Killian's hand.

"Pain Tome, Pain-Split, 7 flames," He looked at Rogers as the spell cast, making him collapse to the floor, "2 pains," This made Killian lose focus for half a second. He fired his spell and it was instantly caught by Simeon, who compressed it between his hands, as he couldn't instantly break ultimate spells. He soon had a tiny ball in his hands as his Spirit Break timed out. He hurled the spell at the both of them and then turned and shielded himself, "Boom," The spell detonated and the blast launched him and the two other mages along with the sand that covered the floor of the arena.

The countdown began, "Pain Tome, Unforgiving Rage, Pain Tome, Agony! Agony! Agony! 1 pain left" His body stood up alone as pain pumped through his body. His eyes saw both of the mages downed, one still churning in pain while the other was motionless. His eyes lost their black and gold colors, the countdown hit 0, the bell rang. His body collapsed, his knees nearly bounced off of the floor as he fell motionless into the sand, he had made it past them both in an instant, but he used Gloom, "I, I did it, f-for you, Julia, Gloom, I finally used it again," He smiled as he rolled onto his back as medics rushed to both of the teams, "I need to rest," He wheezed, "Trust me, I know, I know my, my magic."

"Oxygen! Get oxygen!"

"I guess that won't, won't hurt," He chuckled, "I am fine, trust me."

"You will still be checked, Simeon, it is a miracle you are still in one piece after that match," One of the doctors said placing a mask over his mouth as he felt himself being lifted onto a stretcher, "Julia is waiting for you."

"Is she fine?" He mumbled.

"Yes, she recovered quickly she was more scared than scarred, don't worry about that," He let his eyes close and his head lean back as he left the arena, victorious, but nearly completely broken, by his own magic.
