Part 3 - The Harsh Reality

The sun was hot, the clouds were bright, and the sky was clear. Silver was standing on top of a hill with Ekko while his hoodie wrapped around his waist, and bandana tied to his forehead blew in the heavy breeze that passed by.

"So! You've chosen the bad guys side huh?!" Silver yelled out loud towards the bottom of a hill with a playful and joyous smile. Keeping his arms crossed Ofcourse.

At the bottom of the hill, where the sunlight didn't shine and pieces of trash and scraps laid, were Lucy and Powder. "Well yeah, I'd feel bad if Powder was here all alone!" Lucy exclaimed loudly with a guilty face.

"That's fine! Ofcourse we're going to win anyways!" Powder protested with a playfully sinister smile plastered across her face. However the entire time she was talking, Silver and Ekko were whispering to eachother to tease the two down below.

"Okay okay, let's get to this match! It's good to be able to play once and awhile. Plus it's good practice for out there. So…" Vi on the sidelines explained to the others as the four kids readied their guards in preparation for battle with eachother.

"Begin!!" Vi yelled out loud with her hand raised in the air, causing the kids to sprint at eachother with roaring battle cries.

This was only a year ago, unfortunately at the time they didn't know that these playful battles were temporary. The fun in the sun would soon dim out and form into dark clouds covered in grey skies. If only they knew.

A year later, around the time of the conflict between piltover up city, and the under city. Powder was slouching slightly, her vibrant eye color seemed dimmer and less colorful than usual.

Powder walked back inside of the restaurant after her talk with Silver. Her feet were sliding and she was visibly upset. When she walked into the restaurant she overheard Vi and Mylo talking. So she creeped over to the side of the door to listen in on their conversation.

"I'm just saying Vi, if you keep bringing her along, she's gonna continue to ruin things." Mylo was explaining while laying on the couch and throwing a ball in the air over and over again.

"Mylo, she's just a kid. She has a long way to go yes, but I have faith in her." Vi explained with a sincere face and tone.

"Sure thing but while you're busy having that faith of yours in her, she's only gonna continue to put others in danger. Maybe it's time to let her go from this type of work. She's not built for it. I mean you were 10x the kid she was!" Mylo explained with obvious frustration towards Powder.

The sudden outburst from Mylo caused Vi to go completely silent and stare at the stained hardwood floors of the room. Powder watched from the door, hoping Vi would say something.

But she didn't..

Powder frowned with a mix of sadness and anger filling her heart. She clenched her fists tightly before storming out from that area.

She was so upset she didn't even notice Silver walking towards the room where Mylo and Vi were talking. Unfortunately by the time Vi was about to say anything, Powder had stormed off, and Silver barged into the room with a mad frown.

Mylo and Vi jumped from the sudden barge in before looking at Silver with confusion. "What's up kid?" Vi questioned. She was standing up in a confrontational position towards Mylo, looking like she was gonna tell him off.

"Shut it Mylo..don't you ever stop to think that maybe if you encouraged her, she'd be able to do better?" Silver asked, confrontational. He was mad at Mylo for the way he was treating Powder. Especially after that talk he had with powder from behind the restaurant.

"S-she's a good person okay? Maybe she needs some more training and that's fine but she can do it! And I'll be sure to help her do it!" Silver yelled these words out passionately in defense of Powder. After seeing her struggles so much, seeing the light from her eyes fade after every mess up, he wanted to help her.

Mylo and Vi stood there in shock from Silvers sudden confrontation. Mylo specifically looked guilty.

Vi then suddenly began to chuckle before sitting back down and relaxing from the confrontational position she was standing in. "I was about to go off on him but it seems like you had it kid. Listen, there's no need to be too upset. This knucklehead over here doesn't have the position to kick Powder out even if he wanted. Despite all that though, he does love her..we love eachorher." Vi spoke sincerely with a positive smile while Silvers angry face started to become more relaxed and cool.

"Right Mylo?!" Vi growled aggressively to Mylo with a heavy handed punch to his arm.

"O-ow yes I love her jeez!" Mylo stuttered out while holding and rubbing over the arm that was punched. This caused Silver and Vi to burst out into laughter from the teasing of Mylo.

On the upcity of Piltover, there was a big trial to decide the punishment of Jayce for the possession of hex crystals that resulted in the explosion that everyone's talking about.

Jayce is an inventor who's goal is to progress Piltover with the use of technology and Magic. Though thats easier said than done.

"You know magic like that is prohibited In piltover. It only leads to destruction, and with the progression of it, it will certainly become unstable." Heimerdinger said with upmost confidence. "As one of the founders of Piltover and someone's who's lived long enough to see what magic has done, I forbid you from using it again."

Jayce stood in the spotlight, surrounded by multiple council members. His face was filled with anxiousness. "B-but this can do a lot for Piltover, this can make us one of the most progressed cities all around. I just know for a fact that I can keep it stable, I'm this close to a whole new way of living!" Jayce pleaded but the council members didn't seem convinced. Well, not all of them.

"You knew the rules. And despite that you broke them. I don't think you should be banished since you can still create great things. Magical technology just isn't going to be one of them. I propose Jayce to be expelled from the academy and any use of magic again will result in banishment." Hoskel, a man in ridiculous attire and a large beard said.

Majority of the council members then raised their hands to show that they were in favor of that proposal. This resulted in Jayce standing there as if his whole world fell apart.

Hours after the trial in Jayce's workshop where the explosion took place, Jayce was standing at the edge of the floor where what laid ahead was certain death. He stared up at the starry night sky and the city of Piltover. "Looking at this city..all I see are the ways we can progress. Ways the world can be revolutionized..if I'm not doing that, then what am I?" Jayce said to himself with a downed look. He then slowly closed his eyes and began to lean forward over the edge.

"So, you're the Jayce I've heard so much about." A man from behind Jayce interrupted with polite smile. This caused Jayce to back away slowly and look over at the man confused.

"My name is Viktor..it's nice to me you. And might I say these notes of yours are extraordinary. I can really see the future of Piltover in here." The man said with a smile as he held Jayce's notebook about everything magic.

Jayce sighed before falling down onto the floor in a sitting position. "It doesn't matter. I'm expelled from the academy and if I use anything magic again then I'll be banished.." Jayce assured.

"Well..no one said it was gonna be a walk in the park. Progression takes time, but it takes risk more than anything..are you willing to risk your life for this?" Viktor questioned Jayce before walking over to him with a hand held out.

Jayce looked at the hand that Viktor held out. He saw a ray of hope in that hand so he held his out aswell and grabbed onto it. Viktor pulled him up and they looked eachother in the eyes with nods of agreement.

Viktor led the way out of the room and towards the library where all of Jayce's machinery was being held to be destroyed. "This is it..a step towards the destruction of the undercity." Viktor muttered silently to himself with a devious smile. In the shadows of the dark hallway they walked through, Viktors bright yellow eyes seemed to be passionately glowing.
