4 Legacy

As he walked deeper into the library, he noticed that some of the shelves were marked with names - names of people he had never heard of before but who seemed to hold great significance. Other shelves were marked with symbols or images that he couldn't quite make out but which seemed to pulse with otherworldly energy.

As he continued walking, Yuan noticed that there were some vague silhouettes in the library. As Yuan approached them, there were actually four silhouettes they looked ethereal. They did not have any face or body.

When Yuan went close, the four silhouettes turned around. The Four tried to sense something from Yuan. But it seemed Yuan did not have what they were looking for as silhouettes seem disappointed.

Finally, First Silhouette spoke.

"Welcome, little one, our descendant. We, your ancestors, have moved on to the next life. These are, but our last wills left behind. You can select any of our legacies and cultivate the power of seekers.

Even though you do not have an affinity to it, my legacy gives you the power of a Memory seeker. It's The ability to manipulate and control one's own memories, as well as those of others. With practice, this power could evolve into being able to create and delete memories and even implant false memories in others."

After explaining the legacy, the first silhouette went silent.

Second Silhouette spoke, "Even though you do not have an affinity for it, my legacy gives you the power of telekinesis. You can use this ability to move objects with the power of one's mind. As this power evolves, the user could gain greater control over the objects they manipulate, eventually being able to levitate and control larger and more complex objects."

After explaining the legacy, the second silhouette went silent.

Third Sillhoute spoke, "Even though you do not have an affinity for it, my legacy will give you the power of a Dream seeker. The ability to enter and control the dreams of others. With time and practice, this power could evolve into being able to enter and control people's subconscious minds, as well as being able to enter the dream world itself."

Fourth Sillhoute spoke, "Even though you do not have an affinity for it, my legacy will give you the power of Empathic seeker. The ability to heal physical and emotional wounds by channeling positive energy through the power of empathy. This power could evolve into being able to heal not just oneself and others but also the environment and the world at large through positive intention and focused energy."

The fourth silhouette continued, "You can select any of our legacies, but you must select only one. Selecting more than one would be a deterrent to your growth."

Yuan was in Dilemma. He was not sure which ability he should select. Should he go for the memory seeker or dream seeker or telekinesis, or empathic seeker?

When he was about to make a choice, suddenly, one more Silhouette appeared. When that silhouette moved forward, the other silhouettes went backward and let this silhouette stand in the front.

The silhouette was more vague and transparent than others as if it would disappear anytime. The silhouette gave a deep look to Yuan and spoke, " So you are one of the last of us? When you go out, no matter who asks, even your family, do not tell them what you received here. You do not try to take revenge. Just live your life and use the powers carefully."

The silhouette continued, " I am the founder of seekers. The arcane art everyone feared. I was the one where it all started. My legacy gives you the power of a truth seeker. This power allows you to see the truth of the world. You have an affinity to my legacy if you choose to accept my legacy."

Silhouette went quiet for a while, waiting for Yuan to ask any questions. Yuan was too surprised right now. He was trying to calm himself. Thinking this world was amazing and filled with magic, mystery, and immortals

Seeing Yuan not asking any questions, Silhouette spoke again, "This legacy is the progenitor of all the legacies of seekers. All the powers of seekers originate from this power of truth. It allows the wielder to see through lies and deception. They can easily detect when someone is not telling the truth and can discern the true motives behind their words and actions. This makes them excellent judges of character and highly skilled at detecting falsehoods and dishonesty.

As the wielder of this power becomes more advanced, their abilities evolve to encompass a broader range of truths. They are able to perceive the hidden agendas of individuals, organizations, and even entire nations and can anticipate the consequences of their actions. They can also see through the veil of time, glimpsing the past and future with perfect clarity.

At its highest level, the power of truth allows the wielder to perceive the underlying nature of reality itself. They can see the interconnectedness of all things and understand the fundamental principles that govern the universe. They become true seers, able to perceive the deeper truths that lie beneath the surface of everyday life and the possibilities that come with it limitless but be sure to use them wisely. Because this power makes you very dangerous, if the world finds out about it, humans, immortals, arcanists, beasts, and devils, all of them would try to find you and kill you. This is my final will. You will be carrying the torch of seekers in the grand cosmos."

"Do you accept my Legacy?" asked the Silhouette

Yuan nodded and spoke, " I accept."

As Yuan accepted the legacy of the Truth Seeker, he felt a powerful surge of energy entering his mind. He closed his eyes and focused on his breathing, trying to keep calm as the energy enveloped him. Slowly, he felt his mind expanding as if a veil had been lifted from his consciousness. There was a golden space filled with misty fog in his consciousness now.

He felt he could see through the facade of everyday life and understand the deeper truths beneath the surface. He could read people's emotions and intentions with uncanny accuracy and felt a sense of power that he had never experienced before.

The vague silhouettes of his ancestors began to fade away, leaving behind a brilliant light that enveloped Yuan's entire being. As the light dissipated, Yuan felt a new sense of clarity. He could sense if he tried; he could understand the underlying meaning in everything around him as if a new layer of reality had been revealed to him.

Yuan felt grateful to his ancestors for bestowing this power upon him. He now actually had the opportunity to become stronger in this world of magic and immortals. Even though it came with dangers, this world was filled with dangers already. Even in hunting, he was risking his life. At least with this newfound power, he will have better chances to protect himself.

He bowed respectfully to their fading silhouettes and promised to use the truth seeker's legacy wisely.
