Chapter 30 - Undercurrents

The boundary of Zaun's mid-level, in the underground facility of an alchemy workshop.

A sturdy bald man with a height of at least two meters and a tattoo of the Baju people on the Bilgewater Python Islands is beating a yellow-haired teenager who was lying on the ground.

The boy covered his head with his hands and curled up into a ball, "No! I learned my lesson!"

He vomited blood and pleaded to a thin middle-aged man, who sat on a chair in the shadow, played with a metal syringe.

The bald man looked back at the man in the distance.

After getting his signal, a goon came and put the boy on a chair and held a metal pipe to his throat.

"Deka, my instructions were to show them around and watch them." The middle-aged man's voice had a mature magnetic resonance, "Indeed you watched, you watched them open fire in the Lanes, then watched Vander take them away."

He inserted a tube of purple liquid into the syringe in his hand and pressed the button at his left eye.

"You were smart enough to run away ... so you did understand that "watch them" was not only "watch" them."

"I'm... I'm sorry! I really... didn't know they had a gun..." Deka begged for mercy, "I thought they were…"

"Excuses for your incompetence." The middle-aged man snorted, with anger in his tone, "Defective tools have no place here…"

As soon as the man's voice fell off, the hand that held the pipe, pressed it against Deka's throat slowly.

Deka, who was unable to breathe because of the pressure on his throat, flushed red.

Feeling the passing of his life, he used all his strength to squeeze out a sentence: "Please... please give me... a chance, I... will not... disappoint..."

The middle-aged man waved his hand, and the goon relaxed the pressure.

"Cough cough cough..." Deka, relieved, coughed violently, breathing air greedily.

With the sound of footsteps, the middle-aged man stepped out of the shadows.

He was wearing a red shirt and a black vest, his face was extremely pale, and the left half of his face was disfigured and covered with hideous scars.

The most eye-catching thing is his abnormal left eye. The white of the eye is completely black, and the dim gold and red pupils shined, like a devil's eye.

His name is Silco.

"I will give you a chance to make yourself useful."

Silco walked slowly behind Deka, and put his hand on his shoulder lightly, with a smile of villainy.

When Deka heard that Silco was willing to give himself a chance, his face was full of hope, he nodded frantically, and said in a hoarse voice: "Yes! Of course! Anything!"

"Very good."

A muscular goon pulled Deka's arm to make him stand up. Silco walked in front of him and tidied his clothes.

Then, his eyes turned to the corner of the room full of bottles and jars filled with purple liquid.

There stood another slightly bald, middle-aged man with high cheekbones and deeply sunken cheeks.

He was holding a test tube full of purple liquid, using a dropper to draw liquid from a flask, then adding it into the test tube.

Instantly, countless bubbles appeared in the test tube.

Silco walked toward him with his hands behind his back, "Singed, how is the progress of the experiment?"

"It's almost done," Singed responded while shaking the test tube and observing.

"Show me."

Singed walked to a large cultivation box on the other side of the room, picked up a sphinx, staring at a rat inside the glass.

"Dinner time."

Saying that, Singed put the cat into the box, and then locked the metal mortise lock above it.

In the training warehouse, there is a mouse lying on the ground sleeping.

The sphinx cat's pupils dilated, and he lowered his body and approached his prey.

"Are there any side effects?"

"Not very stable." Singed knocked on the glass, waking the sleeping mouse.

Seeing the approaching enemy, the trained mouse subconsciously ran to the back, opened its mouth at the end of the tube that was connected to the tube filled with purple liquid, and drank the liquid.

After swallowing a considerable portion of the purple liquid, the mouse twitched and made a loud screech.

At the same time, its pupils suddenly changed, and the blood vessels all over its body protruded from the skin, showing the same color as the liquid in the jar.

With the purple blood vessel all over the mouse's body, the bones and muscles on its body began to bulge abnormally.

In just two or three seconds, the rat had turned into a monster that was a size bigger than the enemy in front of him.

The cat's back arched and took a few steps back in fear.

Both Silco and Deka stared intently through the glass.

Immediately afterwards, the rat let out a violent roar, and in the blink of an eye, it rushed to the cat and tackled it against the glass of the cultivation bin.

Blood splattered on the fractured glass, and the rat easily pierced the cat's throat with its sharp teeth.

After a shrill scream, there was only the crunching sound of chewing flesh and bones in the box.

Deka looked horrified when he saw what was in front of him, "What…what's this!?"

"It's for you." Silco glanced at Deka.

"What? No! I'll die if I drink this stuff!" Deckard took a few steps back and fell to the ground.

Silco said calmly, "Here is a rule that I learned when I was your age."

Seeing the man walking towards him step by step, Deka stumbled backwards, with fear in his eyes.

"Power." Silco took a bottle of purple liquid test tube from the table.

"Real power never belongs to someone who is born strong, agile, or smart, never...it only belongs to someone who will do anything to achieve it."

Silco held the potion in front of the boy.

Deka breathed heavily, and hesitantly glanced around him. Surrounded.

"You'll be fine, boy."

I'll be fine!? After seeing that!?

Deka roared in his mind, but his trembling hand reached out to the potion in Silco's hand unconsciously.

"Everyone has a monster in them. Now, let the monster in your heart crawl out."

"Damn it!" He grabbed the potion and poured it into his mouth.

Under the effect of the potion, Deka, like the mice in the box, clasped his neck in pain and knelt to the ground, his body suddenly convulsing.

"Ah!!!!!"

Silco looked down at the screaming Deka condescendingly, without a trace of pity on his face.

"They promised me there'll be a riot uptown … time to pay Vander a visit..."
