Fang

The headache lasted a little longer as Mallory stayed in bed resting up a little more while Tia paid some visits to do a quick checkup and prescribed some things for her to recover faster.

Tia was the only person she had seen but she had learned from her that everyone was fine.

It was good news to hear everyone was doing well even if she was the one to come back in a poor state.

It was not like she was feeling too good about having been put in such a dangerous position but she knew that not many of them would have been able to help.

It was already good enough that they were all uninjured so she put the matter behind her.

Once she was able to sit up, another figure appeared in her room after knocking on the door and entering.

It was a slightly taller dark skinned woman with dark hair and eyes, her body was quite well built too which showed off her half amazon bloodline that were strong female warriors.

Almura had rarely acted during the mission and rarely stood out to the point that it was easy to forget she was there.

That was due to her having to allow the new recruits to get an opportunity to do something to contribute to the group.

Even when things were at their very worst, Almura was busy making sure that everyone was safe and was providing protection where it was needed.

As much as she wished to contribute further, Almura knew that her level and status was still low compared to the opponents that showed up later.

Even Almura who was half amazonian and half dwarf did not feel confident in being able to assist Mallory in the main battle but she did have some when it came to watching over everyone else while Mallory handled the main threat.

After clearing up the battlefield of all of the weapons, she came across several interesting things which caught her eye, it was why she had come to Mallory so soon.

She a small amount of weapons before dropping them to the ground near Mallory. "Remember these?"

Mallory looked over them and recognised that they were previously held by the people she had fought with. "Those were quite troublesome to deal with."

She fought against such weapons and knew how dangerous they were.

Her own weapon could not compare to them so she had to be careful not to clash head on with them too often.

Despite her attempts to do so, Valis was knocked out of her grasp and she had to fight without it.

Such an experience made her realise that she was very lacking when it came to having a very powerful and sturdy weapon.

Valis may have been a very useful tool and weapon for her but it was still very lacking.

The materials used to make Valis were not the best and it was far from being a weapon that could last long term with her own power growth.

The previous battle had let her recognise that she needed a weapon that could match her current status and would be hold up to others weapons or anything else it came into contact with.

Almura must have seen Mallory's thoughts since she then tossed over another weapon to the floor. "It is still usable but too much repeating of such events will only cause it to break faster."

Mallory nodded in response then let out a sigh. "So what do you have planned for these weapons? I doubt they will be of any use to me so just hand them to others who can use them or something."

She remembered that there was mainly the bow and the heavy sword which seemed to pose the biggest threat to her.

Almura pointed towards the weapons again and stated. "I have looked over them and I have to say that the materials used were of very high quality but the workmanship is.. well.. you can pretty much guess my meaning."

Mallory got her point and stated. "So whoever forged them must have sucked huh? Could you do better?"

Almura nodded in response as she patted her chest proudly. "I believe I can do it. I just need to know what to do with them."

Mallory started to think to herself. 'Hmm.. as much as I do love Valis and using a spear which has a wide flexibility of uses, I would really prefer to have something with more killing power.'

There were times when one stab or cut with Valis was not enough to take down an enemy.

It was even more troublesome when they wore armour or used potions to heal their wounds.

There needed to be a way for her to do more damage to her enemy when stabbing and thrusting was not enough to put her enemy down.

After spending some time to think it over, Mallory asked. "Could you have one of them smelted down into a halberd type weapon?"

Among many types of weapons that existed, the halberd definitely had excellent reach and could be used well against much larger groups.

If used on armoured people or monsters then it would prove useful in dealing a powerful cut that could turn the tides of a battle.

If it was heavy then it would be even more dangerous as a weapon to use since each slash would carry more weight within it.

Almura nodded in response. "So you are no longer focussing on your magic item path?"

Mallory shook her head in response. "You misunderstand.. it is just that I have realised the need for more versatility and options. I will continue to try to make better versions of Valis."

Having a staff or a weapon that allowed magic use was something she still needed so she could not abandon such a useful tool like Valis even if it was more fragile and could break soon if pushed too far.

It just meant that she needed to improve upon the original design and work on building funds for a sturdier version to be built.

Different types of weapons would be needed for different opponents and having spares was something that she had learned would be very important if she did not want to face such danger like the previous battle.

Almura understood Mallory since she too did not wish for Mallory to give up on such things.

It was fun for them to work together and forge new interesting things so she hoped Mallory would keep her interest towards item creation and helping with the forging process. "Come by the forge tomorrow and we will begin."

While she was skilled in forging, Almura recognised that Mallory was needed to provide her unique contributions to the entire process.

Nobody else could offer such unique techniques which could improve her forging process by so much. "What would you like to call it?"

Mallory watched as Almura was picking up the weapons to leave then she answered. "Fang. Call it fang."
