7 Chapter 7 - New Magic, Anger, and Comfort

(Author's Note - I honestly don't know how I fucking landed on this skill. It was randomized. It was a 1/45 chance but I guess we going with it. The other 22 possibilities all had 2/45 chance but this was the only one I had set for 1/45. Like damn oh well guess I get broken healing magic skills then.)

(Rain) - Level 10, Experience 28/1,000, Human, Evolver

March 14th

It was 12 at noon in the day when I woke up after that night of excruciating pain. Waking up feeling sore all over I continued to lay in bed groaning in pain. Although I no longer felt the pain, it more like a psychological pain causing me to still feel pain all over my body still. Groaning the whole time as I slowly got out bed I headed out of the bed to lay on the couch in the living room since the tossing, turning, and excessive moving throughout the night had caused the blanket to be soaked in a heavy amount of excessive sweat. There was so much sweat that if you grabbed the blanket and dropped it on the ground you would probably hear a squelching sound coming from the blanket. Lying on the couch after awkwardly walking in pain for five minutes my body had already dried off for the most part. Feeling tired I passed out on the couch until 3 in the afternoon when someone started knocking on my door. Resisting the urge to get up and check who it is I continued to lay there tired and exhausted. However, as if to go against my desires they continued knocking harder without stopping. Annoyed I got up and went to the dressed, went to the bathroom, and when I was finished brushing my teeth I noticed my body changed. My formerly black hair had become a light blue color, a tinge of darker blue at the tips, and had grown out from almost nothing to a decent size, my eyes also changed from my original eye color, which looked black in my opinion, into a shade of blue that matched with my blue hair. Noticing my body's changes and continuing to ignore the knocking that had at this point become banging on the door I continued to check if anything else had changed. The only thing I noticed was my hair had grown, changed colors, and my eyes changed colors too.

Finally, not being able to take it any longer I went over to the front door and opened the door ready to yell at whoever was banging on the door as I was still tired and hadn't felt like leaving today. However, when I saw who it was I suddenly felt deep inside I was screwed for some reason. The person in front of me was Major General Grant. Awkwardly starting at each other for a good five minutes as he was considering if I was the same person cause my hair and eye color changed it looked like he started to wonder if he got the wrong room as he continued to look confused at me, the room number outside the door, and his phone to confirm. Finally, he broke the silence after another few awkward minutes of staring at each other.

(Major General Grant) - "Would- Would you happen to be Rain?"

(Rain) - "I am. Major General Grant? Why don't you come inside?"

(Major General Grant) - "Sure."

While he came in and sat down on a chair in the dining room across from me we stared at each other awkwardly for another few minutes. The whole time we were staring I was thinking of ways to explain what happened to my body but there was really no explaining this! My whole hair length, color, and eye color all changed in a night. This was clearly no fake coloring or contacts or hair extensions it clearly all natural no matter how one looked at it which was just weird considering this shouldn't be possible. In the end, there was just no way to explain this and gave up on this and decided to explain what happened.

(Rain) - "So. Where should I start Major General Grant? You can decide what to ask."

(Major General Grant) - "First off, I would like to ask about the new look and what happened. Regarding your looks, you clearly didn't look like this before and I very much doubt that you were able to go to someplace to get this done for you."

(Rain) - "For this one, to be honest, I'm not quite sure as well. All I know is last night when I went to sleep I looked like how I was before then after I put my status points into something from reaching level 10 I got hit with extreme pain, then I blacked out, then finally looked like this in the morning."

(Major General Grant) - "Extreme pain? Are you the one the noise complaint came for? We didn't know exactly who was causing it last night due to the loud screams coming out from the room for around 10 minutes before it died down. Was that you?"

(Rain) - "Yes, yes it was. To me, it felt like getting stabbed through all over my body yet knowing you can't die from the pain. All you could do was feel it consume your whole body from the tip of your head all the way down to the tip of your toes. That is the best way I can describe it as. I guess if I had to another analogy it would be similar to the pain people who say they felt they got bit by a bullet ant felt. However, the pain was all over the body and not emanating from just the source of the bite."

(Major General Grant) - "I see. Information noted. Alright, onto the second point, we heard from a certain source that you could use a sort of magic. Wind magic to be more precise. Care to explain this?"

Damn! That brat or her mom spilled the beans! I'll try to play it off and see first.

(Rain) - "Oh! Where did you hear that from? I certainly don't remember having the ability to magic. Much less wind magic."

(Major General Grant) - "There's no point in playing this out like this young man. I'm not such an amateur to tell you the source of the information. Being strictly honest, I can feel that they weren't lying as well. We even used a lie detector as well on the source. The chances of this being a lie are much lower with that as well."

They went so far for that information!? They couldn't just play it off as fake? Whhhyyy!

(Major General Grant) - "There's no point lying now. Tell me the truth!"

While my mind was whirling around and around inside of my head I wasn't paying attention and by the time I noticed it, Major General Grant, I had whipped a pistol out pointing at me and far enough out of reach that I wouldn't be able to touch it without making obvious moves.

(Major General Grant) - "Don't think you can get out of this. Tell me the truth and you will leave this alive. Even if you manage to kill me there are at least another 50 fully armed personnel around this building. Give it up kid."

(Rain) - "*Sigh*" Leaning my head back I stared at the roof of the room before continuing to speak. "So now the military is threatening the very people you are supposed to be protecting? Is that how you do things after the Apocalypse?" Looking back down dead into his eyes disregarding the gun before my eyes I spoke again. "Tell me, is this information that important to you that you are willing to disregard the military's relationship with me. Just for this?"

(Major General Grant) - "Yes, that's correct. Information like this about the ability of magic is more than important enough for this kind of treatment. Now, tell me."

(Rain) - "If you are willing that far. Fine then. I believe I told you before about the strength mutant zombie correct?"

(Major General Grant) - "That is correct."

(Rain) - "I obtained a book from it. I read it and learned magic. Simple as that. However, don't get me wrong. Not all mutants give skill books out. The easier way to get a skill would simply to reach level 10 killing zombies and becoming an Evolver. I can't confirm that you will get a useful skill or even a skill at all once you put to get a random skill from becoming an evolver. I am not telling you my new skill, however, because I can't trust you, people, as much anymore after all."

(Major General Grant) - "Is that so. That's too bad then. Guess this stunt really did force us to create a wall between us."

(Rain) - "Indeed it did. After you put me and gunpoint. Even if I use my wind magic I have the confidence to at least have killed you. But, to escape the others after your shot goes off. Hmph, that's just not likely."

Still being held at gunpoint while this goes on he still doesn't lower his guard at all.

(Major General Grant) - "Might as well push it further then. Tell me to what extent can your wind magic go then. Also, tell me, is your new skill an attack type, support, defense?"

(Rain) - "*Sigh* There really is no winning with you. Wind magic is a mix of attack, support, and defense. My new magic is a support skill. For my wind magic skill, I can currently only create condensed blades of wind, enchant an item with the wind to make it sharper, and use the wind magic to create compressed fields of air that create a push in a direction and I can layer these as well. That's it. Anything else more than this and you better expect me to be willing to risk killing you here and now and breaking out. I still have to have trump cards as a survivor after all."

(Major General Grant) - "Fine, we stop here then. Thanks for your information. I can believe at least most of what you're telling me. Your steady eyes give me that feeling at least. Don't worry I personally didn't want to do this though. Orders from Luitenent General Charles who is still hiding in the main base in this state. Also, don't forget to get a new I.D. for entering and leaving the gates since your appearance is different now."

Seeing him getting up to leave and right as he was at the door I decided to leave a message.

(Rain) - "Feel free to feed zombies and then kill them. Makes it easier to find a higher level one!"

As I finished saying that door closed shut close and with the fact, he already locked the bottom of the door when he left it was locked on him right as he heard that and stopped moving. Feeling tired I decided to laze around for the day and dry my bed and stuff out in the living room. After putting on new sets of sheets and getting a new blanket from the closet I laid on bed tired ready to sleep if it came to me. After an hour of lying around and as I was about to fall asleep I heard knocking coming from the door again. Sighing inwardly at this I got up from my bed tossed on my shirt and pants again I went towards the door before opening it. Standing there in front of me was a crying Reina and a mad Reina's Mom who seemed to be chastising her daughter the whole time. Seeing me come out they were both surprised and confused at my new appearance. Seeing Reina there I put on a slightly annoyed face and stared at her.

(Reina's Mom) - "Eh? This is the right room right Reina? It says it's the right number."

(Reina) - "I don't know either!"

(Rain) - "What does the damn rat want with me. I know it was you who spilled the beans about my magic you daddy complex girl."

(Reina) - "AAHHH! It is you! I don't have a daddy complex!"

(Rain) - "Piss off brat! I ought to have you buried six feet under right now! I had to spend a fucking wonderful afternoon with Major General Grant holding a gun to my face thanks to you!"

(Reina's Mom) - "Yes, about that I wish to apologize. I only realized what happened when it was too late. I apologize for my daughter's ingratitude."

(Reina) - "Mom! Don't apologize to a rude person like him!"

(Reina's Mom) - "You're the rude one giving clearly sensitive information about someone out like that you dumb daughter!"

(Reina) - "But, Mom!"

(Rain) - "Heh, are you here to pick a fight with me or what daddy complex girl."

(Reina) - "I told you I don't have a daddy complex!"

(Rain) - "I would believe you if you didn't spend a damn hour trying to beg a damn man who clearly lost his blood from excessive bleeding at that point already and was clearly dead as a zombie could be yet you were still trying to 'daddy this! daddy that!' all over the place."

(Reina) - "How rude! How dare you slander me like that!?"

(Rain) - "You think you have the right to say that to me? After spilling the beans about abilities I clearly didn't want them to know about! Yet, you still think I have to treat you like your some saint or something?"

(Author's Note - I'm basing Reina's personality on a fucking customer I had to deal with before. Man, I hated her Hahaha. This is just in case you were curious. Sorry for the non-commercial break.)

(Reina) - "Yeah, so what about it!"

(Reina's Mom) - "Young lady you best watch your words! He saved our lives! Your dad already died! He just put him to rest finally!"

(Reina) - "I still don't believe that we couldn't bring dad back!"

(Reina's Mom) - "I am truly sorry for my daughter's behavior. I wanted her to apologize but it seems that she just can't learn. I sincerely thank you for putting my husband to rest. I also wish to thank you for saving us since you didn't have to bring us with you."

(Rain) - "You are welcome Mrs. Just next time should you apologize just please don't bring this girl with you if it's towards my place. She acts as if she has some sort of old blood feud with me and I really can't stand her."

(Reina) - "You still slander me! How dare you!"

(Reina's Mom) - "Reina Alicia Jones! You best be quiet young missy! I apologize we shall take out leave here."

Leaving it at that Reina's Mom, Mrs.Jones, left pulling Reina along by the ear while Reina was screaming in protest the whole time while she was getting pulled along. Finally, having them leave it felt much quieter. I decided to finally go grab something to eat since my stomach started to growl. After eating I laid in my room and tried to activate the new magic skill I got. I closed my eyes and used healing magic on my whole body as I had felt some sore spots which were likely from me sleeping weird from the pain in my body causing it to tense up. Having used it on my body for around 180 seconds or three minutes my magic ran out but at the same time, my body felt much better compared to before. At least now I didn't feel a glaring pain in my sides and head. It just felt like a light dull pain now as if it got hit by something. Feeling the effects of this magic I could only wish that I had this when I had that large bruise on my side making me have to sleep facing the other direction that I usually sleep on to even fall asleep.

Lazying around for the day was enjoyable no major stress besides the early day events. However, it was quite boring considering that electricity usage was quite limited and so was the internet usage. Since I could only enjoy myself by downloading things for an hour before watching random things throughout the day. It was an enjoyable time since I didn't have to be worried about a zombie reaching me as being on the third floor I would at least know if zombies broke through somehow. After all, I would at least have heard a gunshot and even if I didn't I was sure the bottom floors people would be screaming and running if the military ran from a bunch of zombies leaving them.

(Author's Note - In case of you all haven't noticed I'm only presuming that internet access is still available after people turn. As technically the technology to run it would continue for a duration of time by itself without maintenance from their servers as long as their servers are still running on what electricity is still going through the grids or that is remained stored up.)

Feeling the comfort of lazing around to be extremely enjoyable. I enjoyed using my phone until 9 at night when my phone was almost out of battery. I had downloaded a lot of stuff during that time. Though slightly dissatisfied by the fact that my original phone provider's service went off the grid so I couldn't use my phone's internet as well. Deciding to head to eat dinner for once, since I was used to only eating a meal once a day to save time while at college, this was an unusual event.

(Author's Note - Ya, I am here again, sorry to interrupt. Just a little bit. Actually, make sure to eat. Don't skip meals they are good for the energy your body needs rather than to let your self starve and run on low reserves of energy making you feel bad all day. Also, I would feel bad ending it on this day since I haven't hit my goal of hitting at least 4k word count a chapter. It's just gonna be shorter by around 850 words.)

After eating I was lying around for another 30 minutes before taking a shower. After showering, I went to sleep for the night I stayed up for another 30 minutes to let my now longer hair to dry while standing outside of my room looking out towards the night sky. After 30 minutes of letting my hair dry in the night time spring breeze, I went in and decided to sleep for the night.
