The Need for Power

A Frenzied Arya rushed towards Jason as she flew faster than she had ever before to reach him as she took his shriveled body in her arms.

"Why do you have to do this every time??" Arya cried out in a devastated tone as she gazed at the state of his body. It was all shriveled as if someone sucked out all the nutrients from his body, even his bones were showing underneath his skin, it looked as if he would pass away any moment.

Even his two new tattoos looked horrifying and his skin was burnt around the tattoos.

"What is up with him and fainting" Harry commented as he came up to them but when he gazed at the state Jason was he stooped that very moment and he shut his jaw shut as his face scrunched up in a furious look, he clenched his fists tightly almost wounding himself. He felt responsible for Jason's current state as they were crossing this city in search of his parents and he himself was not strong enough to fight the enemies and Jason had to fight them alone causing him to almost be killed in the process.

Right now he felt as if he was utterly useless and powerless, he was just strong enough to fight normal zombies with the help of a gun and he was nothing more than a burden in fights beyond that. Kim, Arya, Jason all three of them had some sort of superpower but he had nothing, he was just a normal human who could not even help them in the time of need.

Suddenly a hand came squeezed his shoulder slightly breaking him from his thoughts. Kim had come up to him and she too was looking at the unconscious Jason with a complicated expression.

"It's not just you, none of us are strong enough and Jason has to risk his life every time for us " Kim said in a down voice.

"I won't let this little brother of mine risk his life again for us. I need to grow strong enough, we need to grow strong enough" Kim said in a determined voice.

"We'll have to if we want to survive, we can't have brother risking his life for us again and again," Aiden said with a tear-stained face as she hugged Jason with the same devastated look on her face.

"Take him to the truck, we'll drive somewhere safe first" Kim took charge as she asked Arya to fly Jason to the truck as they followed her to the truck.

There were no signs of the soldiers who accompanied the man who assaulted Jason. Some of them were killed during the fight and the others ran away with their tails in between their legs.

They strapped Jason to a bed as Aiden stayed by his side to take care of him and the others came to the front of the truck as they moved on the road with an unnatural silence shrouding it.

"How can I become stronger? How do I get powers like you all" Harry broke the silence with a voice that was almost a whisper? His voice was rough and was full of boiling emotions.

He could not bear to be the weakest one in the group, only Aiden was weaker than him and she was just a school going girl. Having to rely on others to fight his battles as he looked from afar hoping they defeat the enemy was killing him from the inside.

"We don't know, Harry. All of us are weak, we need to do something so that next time it's us fighting alongside Jason not him fighting alone. "Kim said as she had a hard look on her face. She was disappointed in herself, she had lighting powers for god's sake and all she could do was stay in the side-lines. She was nothing more than a supercharged taser right now and she had to change that soon or she will not survive another encounter like this.

"We can assume that the man was one of the invaders. Only they can be as strong as he was and I also heard him talk about dwarves and high mortals." Arya spoke in a leveled tone.

"If all of them are as strong as he was then we are fucked and we need to step up our game. One of our fatal flaws is that we use pure power without any technique. I saw how my strongest attack didn't even scratch the golden shield of the man."

"I have the same problem, but how do we solve it?" Kim replied with a slight frown on the face.

"Anime, novels " Harry replied with a weird look on his face. These two were the only viable places for them to learn how to use their powers. But for them to watch anime when there are hordes of zombies coming after them would be ridiculous.

"We don't have time for that but, you and Jason read a lot of fantasy books and you watch anime all the time. You can tell us about some possible techniques and we'll try them out to see if they work.

"Yeah I could do that, It would be awesome to help you increase your powers," Harry said in an enthusiastic voice but on the inside, he had decided to do something about his own powerlessness in this apocalypse.
