13 Security Team

Stepping out of Blissful Day Spa, I sighed in contentment. All the small kinks and knots in my muscles had been worked out and my mind felt as clear as crystal. It was saddening having to leave the spa, but I knew I had to. I couldn't just stay there all the time.

There were some things that I needed to do. First off, I had to find someone who could help me train my body. While I was putting that guy in the sauna in his place, I didn't feel as fast, flexible, or strong compared to my last years in the apocalypse. I had to train my body much more vigorously. Instead of the one hour period for working out I put into my schedule, I needed to increase it to at least four hours.

Next on my list, I needed to start training people to be well prepared for the coming storm. They would have to be proficient in firearms, hand to hand combat, and be resistant to mental attack. This last one was very important. Many people went insane when the apocalypse started and only people with enough mental resistance would preserver and strive to get stronger instead of hiding in a corner.

The third thing on my list was to improve upon my base. Since I lacked the funds to do anything else, I didn't create all that I had wanted to right in the beginning. When I had the money, I am going to build more walls, like the walls that medieval kingdoms had. There would be one wall, which is already built, around the 'castle', another wall around the built around the 'nobility', and a third built around the 'peasants' with lots of housing. Of course, it wouldn't be as strict as that, but that is just a rough idea.

Also, the more the fortress expands, the more walls that I will put up. This is just in case zombies somehow overpower the walls, there will be a place to fall back to.

With my to-do list made in my head, I arrived back at the fortress, which is just a very large mansion with a wall and other buildings at the moment.

The first thing on my list wasn't going to be too hard. I had a friend who went off to work in the military, coming back just last year. He was a very friendly person, always helping people anyway that he can, and he also is very skilled in combat and body tempering. His washboard abs and well defined muscles are a testament to that.

Going over to the cell phone to call him, I stop myself. 'Wait, I have a better idea than to just ask him to train me. I can use him to train my 'personal security team'.' Smiling to myself at my plan, I decided that I could hire my friend to train people, giving them the fortress to train at, but before I could do that, I needed to improve my base a little.

With that, improving my fortress went to the top of my to-do list, meaning gaining money was also up there. I remembered that I needed to get an office so that I can work from there instead of from my house, so the first thing I was going to do was rent or buy a building.

Next, after that, I was going to have my friend and lawyer Natalie hire some good lawyers that she knows to work for me in my legal department so that huge companies couldn't just steamroll my company. That had been something that I had been worrying about for awhile now, so I needed to get it out of the way.

After I did that, I could either rent out more of my drones or I could directly sell some different blueprints to companies, making lots of money really quickly. I decided that I could just sell the blueprints, it was a hassle to make a lot of something and to ship it to somebody, which I am already doing.

After that, I will build barracks in my base and some training... stuff. I didn't really know what my friend would need to train people into soldiers, so I would just ask him for what he needed to accomplish this.

With another plan worked out in my head, I booked a flight back to Long Beach, where I am going to start searching for an office building that I could either rent or buy.

----------------------------------------------------

Sighing that last of the paperwork, I now owned a 19,000 square foot office building four stories tall. The entire building cost a total of 3.5 million dollars, using up a decent portion of my money.

The building had a modern feel to it, with smooth, white painted concrete, sharp edges, and windows covering most of the outside. It was the exact image of a modern building.

I had bought the building already furnished, which is why the building cost 3.5 instead of 3.25 million dollars. This really saved me a lot of time and effort because I had no clue what should and shouldn't be in an office.

Sitting in my office on the top floor, I called Natalie. Before buying the building, I had asked her to see if she knew anyone that was a lawyer who were trustworthy, hardworking, and currently seeking employment. Within the three days that it took me to find and buy the office building, Natalie had already found five friends from law school who fit the bill. A few of them were a few years older, with a few being my age. The reason that it was like this is because Natalie and I had both been amazing students, leading to us being three years ahead of everyone else.

While I had Natalie call to find any lawyers she knew, I also had her find two people that would like a decent paying job as receptionists. She quickly found two women that were my age that would be perfect.

Natalie brought all of her lawyer friends and the two receptionists over to the office building so that I could officially hire them. When that was over, I sent the lawyers down to the third floor, which was going to be my legal department and I sent the two girls to the second floor. I'm going to make the second floor the security team's office. In reality, nobody from the security team would ever frequently go there, they would mostly stay at the fortress. The real purpose the security floor will be to recruit people to be on the security team.

I will staff the floor with receptionists who will answer calls of people looking to join the security team. To make calls come in, I put up a new tab on my company's website called ~Hiring~. Under that, I would put that I was looking to hire people for my security team and that I was hiring receptionists. Under each tab was a number that someone could call if they were interested and there was also a description of the job.

Under the security job description, I wrote that people didn't need any experience and that the would be trained by us. Under the receptionists job description, I wrote that they would be answering calls from people looking to be hired and they would answer any questions that customers called to asked them about.

With that all done, I finally went to call my friend who worked in the military. Picking up my cellphone, I called his contact number. The phone rang a few times before it was answered.

"Hey Natasha, how have you been? I haven't heard from you for awhile!" The happy voice of my friend came across the line.

"Hey Micheal, I've been good. How are you?" I respond.

"I've been doing fine. Haven't really been doing anything recently, so I've been quite bored."

My eyes lit up hearing this. 'That means that he probably hadn't gotten a decent job since getting returning from service. It will be easier to hire him then!' I happily think to myself.

"So, Micheal, I wanted to call you because I need someone with your skills for a job. I want to hire you to train a security team for me. I can give you a very good paycheck too."

I sense that Micheal was stunned by my words,"Of course, I would be happy to, but what would you need a security team for? Is someone trying to hurt you?!" He exclaimed at the end. He was very protective of his friends. If he thought that someone was going to hurt me he would be there in a flash.

"No, nothing like that. I just recently made a company, and it has been doing really well, making lots of money. With my company's reputation increasing, I fear that someone will try to do something to me, my property, or my employees." I had thought up this explanation beforehand if he asked what I needed security for.

"Well, if you put it that way, I would be glad to. I don't have anything tying me down in New York, so I can just book a flight to you. Where should I go to meet you?" He responds in a happy, cheerful voice.

I was surprised that he agreed so readily. I thought that it would at least take a little convincing to get him to come work for me, but that didn't seem to be the case. "You can meet me in Long Beach California. The address of my home is ...." I give him my address, telling him also not to worry about the plane ticket. I will have Natalie arrange for his travel.

Thanking me, we say our goodbyes. Putting down my phone, I let out a sigh of relief that my problem about a creating a trained force is mostly taken care of. All that I needed to do now was to sell some blueprints to a big company to make some money and to use that money to build some barracks and training facilities.

Leaning back in my chair, I realize that I still have a long ways to go to be prepared for the apocalypse.
