2 Magni Börsson

Magni Börsson, at nearly 7 feet tall and weighing a massive 27 stone(roughly 380 pounds), was enormous and powerful. His black beard and hair were thick & coarse. His hands were massive and worn. He had a portion of a Direwolf pelt draped over his broad shoulders. Underneath the wolf's hide, he wore a shirt and pants made of thick rough canvas.

Magni woke up in a great mood; he felt more potent than ever. He'd had what he thought was an impossible dream. Magni got out of bed and went about his day as usual. Magni started by eating eggs and wild boar that Var prepared for him, he kissed her and headed out to the forest to cut wood. Twelve and a half hours later, Magni returned home to eat supper. Nothing had struck Magni as odd until Var served him his meat. It was uncannily similar to that dream.

Magni had dreamt that Var, his wife, would go into labor after he finished eating his meat. Then she would drop a plate and scream at him.

Next, Olga would knock on the door and offer to deliver his child personally. (Olga was the Jarl's wife and the eldest Healer of the town). Then Magni would run 40 miles North of Skagi(a northern town) through thigh-deep snow at incredible speed, cut a massive oak tree down, and carry it on one shoulder, after which a herald would appear although he couldn't remember how the dream had ended.

After he finished his bountiful plate of meat. The incidents began to happen. Var going into labor, the plate dropping, the ordinarily timid Var screaming, and Olga arriving.

In this world, people believed that the husband staying for the birth was a bad omen. Any baby born in front of men would be cursed and wicked. It was just an excuse for men to stay at the tavern all night. And until his prophetic dream had happened, he had also planned to drink with his family and friends.

He'd decided he would meet with them at the tavern later. He wouldn't be able to justify this to anyone, not even himself. But instead of going to the bar first, which he had wanted to do, Magni had to see if an oak tree was growing at the base of The Cela Down Mountains.

He effortlessly plowed through the deep snow, running faster than he ever had. After sprinting forty miles at top speed, he had arrived in under an hour!

There stood the majestic oak. Only ash and pine trees grew around this area; at least he had thought that was the case. Once he'd witnessed the oak for himself, he felt compelled to cut it down just as he'd felt about running here.

Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! In just three swings of his ax, Magni cut the huge tree down. The massive tree creaked and cracked as it slowly leaned, louder and louder before it crashed into the snow. Massive clouds and chunks of rock shot out in the mighty fall.

Magni looked at the enormous beast of an oak tree, "Okay, now I'm supposed to lift it? Ridiculous..." He paused and realized how fast he had cut it down. And how he'd run here faster than a bird. What could it hurt to try?

He bent over and hugged the tree at the base and squeezed. At first, it wouldn't budge. Magni continued to apply as much force as he could. The tree began to crack and crush under his newfound strength. Incredibly, the oak started to lift off the ground.

Magni was strong, but this was a legendary feat that far surpassed mortal strength. This tree was not only awkward and hard to grab but weighed 22,285 stone(156 tons)!

Slowly but surely, it lifted until the tree was entirely off the ground. Magni was lifting so hard that his nose began to bleed. He just kept forcing with pure brute strength.

The tree was tilted upwards now, Magni felt a surge of power. He hoisted the tree backward and caught it with just his right arm. It defied physics and common sense.

He started walking towards the mountains with the oak on his shoulder. Each step he took made tremors and cracked the ground beneath him. He reached the Cela Down mountains and began to ascend. He climbed like a madman with one hand while holding the tree with the other.

Magni felt that he had finally arrived where he needed to be. He stood at the peak of a mountain and took a deep breath. He was in disbelief at this entire night.

"This must be the work of the gods." As Magni spoke, the sky lit up, and rays of light beamed downwards. Some sort of a powerful being was descending from the clouds. The herald from his dreams was here.

Of everything that had happened tonight, this shocked him most. The herald of Ozen Raw, Erin, was floating right in front of him.

Erin wore perfect chrome armor. She had a brilliant white aura emanating from her entire body.

"Well done, mortal." Erin's expression stayed calm, "Ozen Raw blesses your son!" Her voice was powerful and authoritative. Indeed she was the herald of Ozen herself. "He shall not bear your name, but he is your blood."

Magni's heart sunk, and his face showed it.

"Your son is being given an amazing gift. Do you accept its conditions?"

Magni knew this was a legendary moment, and his ego would not get in the way. His son would not bear the name Magnisson.

"I accept."

Erin nodded and replied, "Give me the oak tree that grew at the base of the mountain."

He offered the tree, Erin placed her arm out and lifted it with telekinesis. Erin's arms started to move in vast and slow circular motions. The tree began to turn. Leaves branches and acorns tumbled and flew in all directions. At first, its speed had been modest, but as Erin's circular motions became smaller and faster, so did the oak. It kept spinning faster until it became a blur. Its shape was changing before their eyes. It then started to emit blue bolts of mana.

Every leaf, branch, acorn, and twig began to fly back and rejoin the spinning tree... It gradually shrank and compressed, more and more. It retained all the weight from the original oak tree.

Magni merely watched in awe at this spectacular scene before him. Erin, the herald, had just created a legendary item! She must have given him these powers? His thoughts were interrupted as Erin spoke to him once more.

"You shall name your son Mars. He will have no last name!" Erin slammed her hands together, and a shockwave of blue energy exploded directly on the spinning oak. The light was so bright that Magni was momentarily blinded, but as his vision returned. A Wizard's tome floated towards him.

"Behold the Oak Tome! Bring this to your son right away. Have him place his palm upon its cover." Erin's hands seemed to quickly cast a spell before she disappeared from Magni's sight.

It was intricate and had runic carvings all over. Magni placed both hands upon the Oak Tome, and he felt it's incredible weight. This book weighed 156 tons, which caught him off guard as he nearly fell down the mountain as a result. He regained his composure and started to head back.

Magni still had his overwhelming strength and vitality; he descended the mountain with no issues. As he ran home, he began to feel the fatigue and exhaustion starting to set in. His strength was finally draining.
