6 Race to Mayhem: (part 1)

Waking up it seems so peaceful. It has been 2 months since we all got here it felt like home.

Madie and Lizzie arestill sleeping soundly. So you decide to get up and go for a run around the gym. then shower and head to the office. Sitting down working on some more tactical stuff when Drake walks in and drops his coffee startling you. "Dude you okay?" You ask coming over to him. He is frozen cant say a word. just points in the direction of the Mayhem clock. It Is set to go off in 10 days. "Shit." Tommy says running to Dr.Ivin's lab.

Dr.Ivin is sitting at the table going over data. "Dr.Ivin please tell me you are close to finishing up the serum." Tommy said sounding pleading. "There is still this one part that isn't right. It attacks the infection and does what its suppose to then it resorts back to deteration. Having a living specimen or one of the fleshies would help if I might suggest that." Dr.Ivin said looking out the window.

"No one would go for that." Tommy said. He sighs out of frustration. "Look Dr.Ivin Mayhem clock is set to go off in 10days and 9hours." He continued. Dr.Ivin Paled. "In order for this to work I need a specimen. Either Living or dead." Dr.Ivin said looking down. "Living? But that would mean you would have to infect them somehow." Tommy said looking at him curiously. Dr.Ivin looked down and nodded. "That's suicide. There has to be another way." Tommy ran his hands through his hair.

Dr.Ivin slammed his fists on the metal table knocking stuff everywhere.

"I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING POSSIBLE DAY AND NIGHT... There is no other way. I'm sorry." He said defeated and almost sobbing. Tommy went over to him and put a hand on his shoulder.

"What do we need to do?" Is all Tommy said.

Drake and Tommy called a meeting with the men. They explained what was going on to the boys.

"Dr.Ivin needs a infected being. One of the Fleshies." Tommy said looking at all of them. They all stared. "Okay we can shoot one and bring it back." Theo said not understanding what he meant.

Drake shook his head. "NO Alive. He needs the brain still functioning or it is useless." Drake said.

"Are you out of your fucking mind? Those things are dangerous and you want to bring them here. Where the families sleep." Frank angrly said. "The Mayhem clock goes off in 10 days and 2hours.. Without that serum we are fucked." Tommy angrly pointed to the clock. Everyone looked shocked to see it actually on. "We will end up just like the Facility we protected. Except its all of the united states." Drake stated. "There is another option. Dr.Ivin said one of us could get infected. There is a sure way to keep us safe. And its reversible with the serum." Tommy said looking at the pure disgust on everyones faces but Drakes and Phillips.

"I'll do it." Phillip suggested. "Its Reversible than I won't lose anything and be valuable." He continued cheeks rosy because everyone looked at him at the same time.

"NO." Tommy said firmly. "I can't let you Phillip. It's too dangerous." Tommy continued. "I will do it. No arguments." Tommy said quietly as if someone might be listening outside the door. Everyone was quiet. No one objected. After it was said and done they all came up with the plan to ensure safety and then dispersed.

When everyone was leaving Tommy saw Madie was outside waiting. Tommy froze.

"Were you even going to discuss it with me?" You say feeling betrayed and hurt. He just stands there quite. You shake your head. "So much for a team." You walk away fast to not let him see you cry.

Tommy appears at Dr.Ivins lab. "I'm ready Dr.Ivin." The Doctor looks at him and nods for him to sit down. Theo comes running in the room. "Stop. I am going to do it." Theo says pointing a gun at the Doctor. "I need to do this.. You have a family to think about." Theo continued hand out open for the Doctor to give him the virus in the syringe. Dr.Ivin looked at Tommy and then Theo. "Let me redeem myself.. For my wife. I was a coward and let her die. I did nothing. NOTHING." Theo begins to sob. Tommy moves towards him slowly. "Okay Theo.. Are you sure this is how you want to redeem yourself. Your wife knew how much you loved her." Tommy takes the gun from him and sets it on the Metal table. "She was all I had in this dark cruel world. The only one who could sooth all the bad away. Do you think God is punishing us? For what we did?" Theo sobs and looks you in the eye at the last part. "I don't know. Does that sound like something he would do?" Tommy asks. "No." Theo sobbed out. "Then no. Man kind did this Not Our God." Tommy took the syringe and looked at Theo. "Ready?" Tommy asked. Theo nodded. And just like that Tommy plunged the syringe into Theo's arm. Theo walked over to the bulletproof glass cell in the corner and sat on the bed. "What now?" Theo asked. Tommy looked at the clock. "We wait." He said sitting down next to Dr.Ivin. Regret filling him as he sits and watches his comrade. His Friend turn into a mindless monster.

Is there really hope?
