3 Delion Catell the second

Stonemason Daril's death was at many aspects confusing but at the same time it wasn't.

Everyone just assumes that he died in his bed, possibly from heart problems due to the death of his wife years ago. It can be hard to withstand based on how connected one would be to his partner.

But Ellie, she claims that this isn't the case and shouts it with all her guts and intent.

After waking up, she explained to chief Ambers about the noises she has heard at night!

Brooms dropping after getting set straight 3 times in a row, buckets rattling for no apparent logical reason, one side of her bed being elevated a foot off the ground before being lightly dropped again and of course the undefeated feeling that she wasn't alone in her room!

Chief Ambers found it hard to believe although such reports have been made rarely over the years, such as weird figures or people walking around or flashing in front of a few villagers.

She has never heard of ghosts murdering someone and definitely never heard of the paranormal being this close to a pre-suspecting human.

Chief Ambers tried to convince Ellie that she just might have been over paranoid, the time of hearing the broom drop down might have just started a cycle of fear.

But Ellie withstood to her points, her paranoia after all could have not made the bottom side of the bed lift up for a foot! Ellie isn't even sure if stereotypical witches can do that.

Regardless, they've let this case escape unnoticed. Although people would find it easy to believe in ghost stories, Ellie is breaking the normal with her's.

And if chief Ambers says that Ellie is paranoid then she is paranoid.

Ambers is the chief of the village for a reason, no one can match her intelligence and problem solving. She has an attitude about the same size of her height.

Speaking of problem solving, she has decided to call for a... friend in a nearby hunting camp.

The said location is 10 kilometers far from the village of Blenar and actually that hunter has directed Edgar the less fortunate here, once spotting the old man being tad lost.

This hunter goes by the name of Delion Katell the second and he is... a rather different person.

One would mostly see him alone, he spends most of his time hunting or preparing for it. He doesn't speak much but when he does, it is commonly followed up by attitude.

Apart from being a hunter, this man is commonly called a qualified detective. He has solved cases for royalty in the big cities but has put that life far behind him.

Ambers' idea is to have him here, investigating the situation but it could be tricky to convince Delion.

"Why have you called me here?" Delion spoke, a bit angry but hiding his mild anger behind a reactionless face and adding. "I'm busy."

"Busy with what? You have enough meat stocked up for years!" Chief Ambers spoke, gentle actually and indirectly trying to raise his ego. "We need your level of expertise, people are randomly dying!"

They have discovered old Edgar's body too thankfully, most thought it to be due to old age since there isn't blood, nor signs of struggle or a fight.

They've discovered the body, when the foul stench of a dead corpse reached their noses. Not the best experience, but at least they have granted him a coffin along with a grave at the village's cemetery.

Stonemason Daril was granted a grave as well, but Ellie fainted three times throughout the process.

She lost her mother and now her father as well? It isn't something easy to withstand, and she refuses to go back to her own house thinking that someone will kill her.

Chief Ambers has decided to take her in, she will feel a lot more protected with a 6.4 foot tall lady to her aid and Ambers will feel better if 17 year old Ellie is under her safety.

Getting back to the point, this small but yet impactful sentence called for Delion's attention. Raising his eyebrow high, and boldly asking. "How is it my problem?"

Still feeling unsure if he should take the case or not, but expressing it in an unpleasant way.

Delion has been called in the chief's house to speak in private, therefore Ambers has the capability to drip a bag of bronze coins on the table.

With a smirk across her face, she weighs in. "400 bronze coins, it's not how much your royals paid you but here it is considered 4 salaries!"

"It is odd for you to think that bronze coins, or gold coins for that matter would change my mind." Getting up from his chair, Delion let out a stressful sigh and adds. "Thank you for wasting my time."

The moment he stood up, Chief Ambers grabbed him by the collar and pulled him back down.

Now they are face to face, being only a few inches away from each other. She speaks out in a low tone, "Take this case and I'll give you what you wanted this whole time."

Delion is a big guy, 5.9 feet tall and undoubtedly buff but not to the extreme. We can call him mildly buff, but his muscles obviously aren't enough to escape chief Ambers' grip.

Indirectly accepting it, he sits down and removes Amber's grip from his collar, asking. "When was the first death registered?"

"Today, stonemason Daril is gone. We think he just died naturally on his bed, but his daughter claims to have noticed paranormal activities. Although not seeing anything, she felt her bed elevating!" Ambers got to the case directly, knowing that he has accepted the job and having a rather noticeable smirk on her face thanks to it.

"So the bed just lifted up without anyone being in the room?" He asks, finding it a bit unbelievable and afterwards questioning. "How old is she?"

"17." Ambers spoke lightly, as if reading Delion's mind she added. "So it can't be just a little girl's fantasies, she is almost an adult and in such a case would have no reason to lie."

"Is that the only death?" He asks, perhaps it will make sense if another victim is included. Because the information he is getting is too scarce and would in no way link up.

"No, we also found an old man dead in his tent. He might have died earlier, perhaps 1-7 days ago? We didn't really notice until today." Recalling that the old man mentioned a hunter in the very beginning, Ambers cites. "You knew old Edgar."

"Edgar is dead?" He asked, curious and at the same time a bit sad about it but not enough to raise his voice and none the less cause a scene.

"Yes, he might have died out of old age and the case could be unrelated. Like Daril's death, his had no sign of a fight nor a scar." She was swift to explain the cases, so the detective here can get a grasp of the situation quicker.

Realizing that the information he is getting out of chief Ambers is not enough, he demands. "I need to have a closer look at the crime scenes."
