There's always another mountain. Yang Yichen had always heard this saying as a child, but he never believed it. Within the village he was the strongest genius, surpassing all the youths in the village by 10 years old. Upon entering the Blood Sword Sect, he trampled upon everyone in the entrance exam and swiftly rose to the position of Core Disciple by the age of 15. In his view, there wasn't another mountain, he was the mountain. That was, at least, until his entire worldview was shattered.
"I am just telling you Yichen, pride always comes before the fall." An old man with sharp eyes, a wrinkled face, and a long grey beard said. He was sitting before a young man who couldn't be older than 16 who was dressed in blood red robes.
The young man had light red hair, and red eyes. An imposing aura surrounded the young man, but it could be seen that he held great respect for the old man before him.
"Sect Master I understand your concerns but I've never met an opponent within the same generation who could best me." The young man who was presumably Yichen replied locking eyes with the elderly man.
"Haizz, I've told you this before Yichen. While you're a great talent within our Blood Rain Region, we're merely one of a hundred regions within the entirety of the Grand Sword Domain. If you keep up your arrogance you will only fail miserably."
Hearing this the youth merely nodded his head. "All right I understand. On another note I just perfected my Blood Sword, but I feel as if there's still more improvements I can make." Yichen replied trying to shift the topic of conversation.
"Perfected? Have you already reached Complete Mastery?" His eyes widened, but before he could speak another word a disciple rushed towards their pavilion.
"S-Sect Master! Senior Brother Yang! Visitors claiming to be from the Earth Sword Region's Starry Sky Sect have appeared. They've already defeated everyone else, Senior Brother Yang you're our only hope!" The disciple pleaded as he bowed towards the two.
"What!? They dare enter my Blood Sword Sect and beat up my fellow disciples?!" Yang Yichen roared, rising from his seat. On the other hand the Sect Master merely raised a brow before shaking his head in dismay.
'This is bad, but hopefully Yichen will learn from it.' He sighed, the youth had already ran off to defend the Sect's honor, but he knew that there was only one possible outcome. That being, defeat.
Less than a minute later Yang Yichen arrived at the Bloody Arena. In the stands his fellow disciples sat dressed in brown and red robes, but atop the stage two people he'd never seen before stood in dark blue robes.
"Senior Brother Yang has arrived!"
"The hope of our Blood Sword Sect!"
"Beat them up for us Senior Brother!"
The disciples chanted, merely seeing Yang Yichen had filled them with hope. On the other hand his opponents merely glanced at him, before disappointedly shaking their heads.
"Senior Brother I thought you said the Blood Sword Sect was one of the strongest within the Blood Rain Region. Why are they so weak?"
Immediately the Bloody Arena went silent, and Yang Yichen raised a brow before jumping atop the stage. Weren't these visitors a bit too arrogant? Not only that but they had made a judgement of his strength before a single blow was even traded.
"Junior I already told you that small regions like the Blood Rain Region can't compare to our Earth Sword Region. Next time don't stay dragging us to these places just because you want to have a good fight."
"But shouldn't one always seek new challenges?"
"Look we don't have time for this, we're meant to regroup with the others in an hour, I say we go check out some restaurants first."
The two blue robed people discussed, not even acknowledging Yang Yichen's existence save for the initial glance. Naturally this angered Yang Yichen greatly. Never before in his life had he been disregarded as such.
"ENOUGH! I heard you were here for a fight? Or is it normal for you Earth Sword Region people to talk shit and do nothing after?" Yang Yichen roared immediately drawing the blue robed people's attentions.
".....But I already fought? And I can tell just by looking at you that you won't be much of a fight either." The smaller one replied, tilting his head to the side as if he was confused. "...Okay how about this, if you can take on attack from me we can fight."
"Hmph! I've never met someone so arrogant in my life. Fine I Yang Yichen, disciple of the Blood Sword Sect accepts."
"Great, I am Qin Shan disciple of the Starry Sky Sect. I hope you won't regret your decision." The smaller one chuckled before getting into a battle ready stance. His Senior Brother hopped off the stage and stood some distance away.
"Make this quick Junior Brother!"
Yang Yichen on the other hand also took a stance, his right arm fully extended, his hand clenching the air as if he were holding a sword. A dark, blood red aura then suffused his body, before congregating on his right hand and forming a completely solid sword.
"I-Is that...no it can't be, the Blood Sword at Complete Mastery!?"
Someone in the crowd shouted, and soon the entire arena was set ablaze. This was their Senior Brother, a genius like no other. If before they had some doubts on whether he could win the fight, now they were certain he'd send these visitors packing.
"What an interesting technique. Your fellow disciples also performed a similar move but it was not nearly as perfected. Well enough about that, seeing as you're ready I suppose I can make my move now."
With that before Yang Yichen's very eyes he disappeared, before reappearing merely a meter away from his face his palm slamming towards him. Immediately Yang Yichen swung his sword upwards in order to deflect the blow.
Unfortunately it was all for naught. Qin Shan's palm glowed in a blue light, before a massive 2 meter tall projection of a palm manifested dissolving Yichen's sword instantaneously and sending him flying right out of the stage.
"....How unfortunate, I can't say I didn't expect more." That was the last thing Yang Yichen heard before he drifted into unconsciousness.
