Prologue

'How could he do this to me again? That jerk. I'm pregnant with his child but he wouldn't even bother to show up for another ultrasound. I understand his busy at the office but damn, our beautiful baby girl isn't even born yet and his already flaking out.'

'He needs to understand that she is the most important thing right now. I love him with all of my heart, but things cannot keep going this way.'

The thoughts invaded her mind like swarming bees. And it was true, she loved her husband so much that she would do anything for him, but being six months pregnant with a non-cooperative husband took a toll on her. She just couldn't understand why the love of her life was acting this way. She loved her daughter so much that she couldn't wait to see and hold her.

And hopefully he wouldn't be late to the birth of their daughter as well.

After the ultrasound was done, she walked out of the hospital and waited for him. Placing her hands on her huge belly, she felt her daughter kick and she instantly smiled. Her eyes caught a glimpse of her wedding ring and wondered where her husband was.

Two minutes later, and after she left him a bunch of calls, a white car pulled up in front of her and she immediately knew who it was. She crossed her arms over her chest and snapped her head the other way. He sprinted out of the car and stood in front of her.

"I'm so sorry baby." He said while trying to control his breathing. She was obviously mad at him and didn't say anything. "You're made at me?" He asked and suddenly she turned to meet his dark brown eyes.

After looking at him with an intentive stare, she left him there and opened the passenger door and hopped in. He sighed as he ran his fingers through his brown hair and turned around to get in his car.

He knew she would be mad again and he knew he had to choose his words carefully to apologize to his wife.

"I'm sorry, Madison." She didn't budge to glance at him. "And I'm sorry baby." He placed the palm of his hand on her growing belly. "Daddy is so sorry."

"Just drive Christian." She suddenly said with a hint of anger in her voice, and after caressing her belly for one last time he pulled his hand away.

"Seat belt on." He said and she did just that-still mad at him. He then started the engine and drove off.

Ten minutes in and they still on their way home. Traffic is bad in New York. Silence filled the car as they both didn't speak a word to each other.

Madison just stared out the window and saw the snow falling from the blue-gray skies and Christmas decorations all over the city, including the stream of lights at every traffic light and small shops alongside the road.

Out of the blue she asked.

"Are you cheating on me?"

"What type of Christmas spirit is that Madison?" Christian asked frowning.

"Are you fucking cheating on me Christian?!" She yelled and turned to look at him.

"No I'm not cheating on you. Why would you think such bullshit?!" He tightened his grip on the steering wheel out of anger.

"Oh I don't know... maybe because you hardly at home and don't have time for me anymore."

Red light.

He hit brakes, and faced her. "Just cut your bullshit." She gasped when she heard that but he continued. "We'll talk about this when we get home." He stated angrily with his eyes fixed on the road.

"No, let's talk about this now!" She snarled.

Green Light.

"Madison, please just stop. I don't want to argue about this again. I love you okay? I will never have an affair." He took a deep breath in and continued driving. He tried making the situation less tense, so he asked. "Aren't you going to tell me about the ultra-"

And just like that everything went black because of the drastic impact they experienced...

A car crashed into Madison's side in an instant, causing the driver of the other car to smash his head into his windshield.

Madison's head instantly banged against the window and caused her leg to slightly bend of the massive impact. Her neck got fractured as well.

Christian's head came into contact with his window causing pain to shock through his head, and head started bleeding.

After a minute of complete darkness he opened his eyes while growning from the agonizing pain he felt in his head as he touched it. He felt abit dizzy. His brain took a second to comprehend what had just happened.

They got into a car accident on one of the busiest cross roads in the city.

His head shot to the side and saw his wife unconscious with a bleeding head. All he could think about right now was her's and their daughter's health. He unbuckled his seat belt in a panic and leaned over Madison in an instant. Right then and there he didn't care about his small migraine, he cared about his wife that was in a much more worse space.

"Madison? No please... Madison wake up!" He cried out almost screaming while shaking her gently.

He looked down and saw blood running down her legs, and in an instant he knew something was wrong with the baby.

"No! No no please... Baby please don't give up on me!" He cried while touching her stomach gently.

His head hung low, he whispered. "I love you Madison, don't leave me." Tears ran down his face as he leaned over to kiss her belly.

"Please God... Please don't let anything happen to my princess."

...

Nurses and doctors bursts in his wife's body on a wheeled stretcher through the hospital doors. Christian ran close behind, followed by a nurse that bombarded him with all types of questions but he wasn't in the right state of mind to answer any of them. He just wanted to go see his wife.

He couldn't even sign the hospital papers because of his shaking and distraught body. But he protested against the nurses that tried holding him back to run off and be by his wife's side, but was unable to do so.

He felt numb.

The nurse sat him down and tried to get some type of information out of him, as they immediately took Madison in the theatre for an emergency cesarean.

Christian tried really hard to explain the events that had happened to her, but just ended up breaking down, crying uncontrollably.

He blamed himself for this.

It was his fault.

If only she had known the real reason why he was late, or maybe he should've dropped everything and arrived earlier to pick her up then none of this would've happened.

She and his baby girl's life wouldn't be on the line right now.

"They're going to be fine." His sister, Liz said as he sat down anxiously in his chair.

But he didn't believe his sister.

Chris didn't care about the way his hair looked with that nasty scar on his forehead or his disheveled shirt. All he could think about was Madison.

They've been in the theatre for an hour and still nothing, no results.

His parents was there too, anxiously waiting, but Madison's mother couldn't stand the sight of her son in law and moved to sit somewhere else. In her eyes, he was to blame for her daughter's state.

Maybe it was wrong for her to do so but Maddie was her only child, the only person she has left. She had every right to feel mad even though she loved Christian.

Suddenly the theatre door glowed green, opening, and everyone instantly stood up surrounding the doctor.

The doctor approached them, removing the surgical face mask from his face.

"How is she? Is she-" Madison's mother started but Christian cut her off.

"Is my wife alive?" He asked frantically.

The doctor nods. "The patient is alive, but she's sleeping. She will need a lot of time to rest."

Christian felt a huge relief from off his shoulders. His wife was alive.

"And what about the baby, doc?" Olivia, his mother asked.

The doctor looked down, gulping. He looked Christian in the eye and said: "Unfortunately the baby sir, didn't make it." The shocking looks on their faces made the doctor further explain. "There was a complication with her breathing and..."

He couldn't believe it.

He didn't want to believe it.

He shook his head uncontrollably, blurring out the doctors words. It didn't take long for the tears to start making it's way down his face as his family immediately comforted him.

"Alot of blood was lost. We tried everything we could..."

His daughter died and he truly believed it was all his fault.

Christian didn't know what he was going to say to Maddie when she wakes up.

His heart physically ached knowing that this will destroy her, knowing that she won't be happy after this. But he was going to try and put everything in their marriage to make it the same again and be by her side. No matter what.

He let go of his sister and parent's embrace and looked to the side, finding Adelaide, her mother, crying.

Chris walked up to her crying. "I'm sorry." He failed at giving her daughter the very best, and he knew he would have to heavily pay for it.

Adelaide cupped her son in law's face, wiping the tears away.

"Now is the chance to try harder and be there for her. Do you hear, son?" He nodded. "She's going to need you to be strong for her. This is a tragic thing that happened and we all are deeply saddened, but with time, and with our heavenly father it will get better. Don't give up on her, don't give up on yourself."
