10 Pack

For the next month Sagar split his training between getting familiar with his saber and going to the forest to hunt. It was only after a month that he felt familiar enough with his saber while also finishing the moves that accompany it.

When he was in the forest Sagar managed to figure out how to freely manipulate earth magic without actually using the spell and felt that the progression of his other elements moving at a much faster pace then they were before.

Today Sagar decided to go deeper than he has gone before as he was having trouble finding anything around his level of power. In this past month he has only encountered ten Intermediate beasts with only the first one he fought managing to wound him and that was because it launched a sneak attack on him when he wasn't being careful.

He felt that he had gotten enough experience at the very least to venture deeper into the forest. There were more dangerous beasts but Sagar felt confidant in avoiding them with another insurance being the amount of points he had gathered over this past month getting about 1000 points in total.

It took Sagar over an hour before he reached a location he hadn't been before and figured that from now on he would be in an area of the forest that he hadn't been to before. It didn't take long before he came across an Intermediate monster but it wasn't alone.

The intermediate monster was a pack leader in charge of several other wolves which were at the novice level. Since Sagar has not fought a pack before he decided that this would be the first one he would fight. It was a decent size and wasn't overly powerful where Sagar would not be absolutely sure if he could survive the battle.

While Sagar managed to learn some group attacking spells he wasn't going to us it for this current fight. With it he would at least be able to heavily injure most of the pack but then he wouldn't get the same level of experience he would get. If there was ever a time when he encountered a group with the majority of the group would be at his level with the leader being higher than him he wouldn't be able to use the same tactic against them.

With this thought in mind he started to approach the wolves and didn't really bother to hide his presence as he wanted them to sense him. Sure enough the pack leader noticed his presence and started to howl giving order to the other wolves. Hearing their alpha the wolves started to move in an organized manner towards their prey.

Looking at the group of wolves making their way toward him Sagar drew out his saber channeled his internal energy into it and performed the move 'Gram Slice'. It caused the energy to shoot out in a crescent shape towards the group at a fast speed but because there was still some distance between them most of the wolves dodged with Sagar's attack hitting two fatally.

Sagar didn't launch another attack as it might not be effective as they were too far apart. When the two opposing forces came upon each other Sagar was quickly surrounded by the organized pack. Standing in the middle Sagar was looking at all the wolves in front of him while also trying to be aware of the ones behind him in case they tried to attack his back.

Eventually three of the ones in front of him started to charge and attack him in a formation that covered all sides in front of him. Sagar didn't sense any activity from his back but busied some of his attention there in case they got any ideas. Still holding his saber Sagar used 'Cleave' to attack the wolf charging directly in front of him. The wolf itself was still charging fearlessly towards him as if he wanted to trade blows but Sagar wasn't going to let him easily to so.

Sagar's attack managed to reach wolf first but as soon as it was about to be hit the other two wolves picked up their speeds attacking him from the side. Sagar didn't want to receive the two hits so he used his other hand and used 'Feral Claw' to attack of them. While doing this in the middle of his attack it reduced the power of the two but the remaining power should be more than enough to fatally wound the wolves not outright killing them.

When the attacks landed on the other two the last wolf took the opportunity to try to bit it's prey's ankle to incapacitate him but what it didn't notice was the slight movement of the earth underneath it which transformed into spike that shot towards it's stomach. Without knowing how it died the spike gutted the wolf and it immediately collapsed.

Sagar breathed out sigh of relief seeing the three die but before he could relax a bit he felt something pounce on his back causing him to fall to his knees. Even though at the beginning he used some thought to try to focus on his back receiving the three wolves attack caused his attention to waver and one of the ones behind him took the chance to leap on his back biting his collar.

Even with the sudden change in the situation Sagar didn't panic instead he put his hand on the wolf performing 'Agi' which started to roast the entirety of the wolf's face killing it effectively. Luckily Sagar's bodily defenses were extremely powerful that the wolf's bite barely pierced his skin only drawing some blood.

As for the other wolves when they saw that their comrade had managed to restrain the prey they started to make their way over but seeing the subsequent death of their comrade they stopped in their tracks and were eyeing the prey again.

Soon after the first attacking group finished their attacks the howl of the alpha rang out and the rest of the wolves opened up their encirclement to make way for the alpha. The alpha itself was a few times larger than those of his fellow pack. It felt that the pack by itself would suffer several casualties before they took down this boy so it decided to join the fight.

Seeing the alpha and feeling it's intentions Sagar felt that the difficulty of the battle jumped up some levels.
