56 Catching Up

Approaching his family Sagar spread out his arms so that he could wrap them all up in on big hug, which they all complied with. Talia did the same thing with her family leaving really only Umbra by herself but she didn't really mind as she knew such a thing would happen whenever she decided to come with the two back to the Drak residence.

Turning back to face Umbra, Sagar introduced her to his parents, "Mom, Dad this is Umbra a friend I made while attending the academy. She was already long time friends with Talia so it didn't take much for us to get acquainted with each other."

Beatrice looked at Umbra for a second and immediately realized who she was, " Wow, you really do look like your mother but it seems like you adopted the Rex signature hair color."

Umbra would be lying if she didn't admit that she was excited to meet Beatrice as she has admired the women for as long as she could remember but hearing her bring up her mother caused Umbra to throw that to the back of her head, "You've met my mother?"

Looking a bit surprised Beatrice answered, "Of course I have. We met at one of the balls that was hosted by the royal family, she was younger at the time and had yet to marry the King. We hung out every now then but lost contact with each other whenever l left the capital.", Beatrice had a somber look on her face before continuing, "We even promised to go to each other's weddings but it didn't turn out in our favor and too many things ended up happening."

Umbra always wondered why her mother talked about Beatrice a lot but Umbra assumed that like her she just admired Beatrice, it turns out that they were friends in the past. "If you want when I return to the palace I could tell her of your return."

Beatrice waved out her hand, "No, you don't have to worry about that she actually came a few months back when it got out that I had returned. We both took the day off and caught with all the things we've been doing these past few years. She did tell me about you and I had thought about having our children meet but who knew that you two had already gotten acquainted with each other."

The two of them continued talking while Sagar and Garris decided to leave them to their own devices while the father-son duo caught up with each other.

"So son, how's the academy been treating you, good I hope."

Sagar nodded his head,"Yes things have been going good over there. I've learned more than I attended to but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. How about you Dad, things over at the Silverback's going good?"

Garris let out a laugh while telling his son, "It's been great, the Commander recently promoted me to the Colonel which allows me to go on harder missions along with earning bigger income.", Garris paused before looking at Beatrice then said in low voice, "With your mom being here with the family she technically can make more coin than me but it's good to have another source of income, I just stopped taking missions as frequently as I used to. There is also not much missions that require a Colonel to lead them so that's another plus.", he then let out a sigh,"Now I just get stuck with some paperwork mainly but I can't really complain."

Garris then shifted his gaze from Beatrice to Aquilia who was resting within her mother's arms. Seeing his father's look Sagar said, "Don't spoil her too much mom does enough of that already."

Turning back to his son, almost offended he spoke, "I'm not sure if I'm one to talk about spoiling, don't think I didn't notice the energy coming off of whatever item you're holding in your pocket. You missed your sister's birthday so you probably plan to gift her with that."

Rubbing the back of his head in slight embarrassment Sagar couldn't deny his father's accusations. The so called item in his pocket was a simple necklace at least it's appearance was. It was something he managed to request be made from some materials of some beast he had fought while he was out hunting. The beast itself was hard to take down not because of it's strength but mainly because it had a strange ability to rapidly adsorb the energy from it's surroundings and use it however it wanted. Sagar was constantly damaging it so it put the energy into healing it's wounds, but Sagar was able to kill it because whatever it used to activate this ability ran out and the beast was no longer able to heal. Sagar later researched what it could be and found out that it was an ape that was able to pick up the unique trait that usually only spirits had access to, hence their name 'Spirit Ape'.

Anyway Sagar was able to gather many materials from the beast but he only gathered one, it's heart. With it, if it was taken to someone who was familiar with carving formations onto crystals they would be able to add a certain affect to it. The heart was the main component of said formation so it was highly needed to make sure that the item has a good chance of succeeding in it's creation. In Skoll Town there was a crystal formation master that agreed to make it form him not only because Sagar paid him too but also because of the item itself.

The necklace was able to use the same ability as the Spirit Ape but not to the same degree or as often. It could only be used three times a day while the before the ape was able to use it a multitude of times but it also held a passive ability that allowed it's wearer to gather energy of any kind more easily than before. Sagar planned to give it to Aquilia not only because it was valuable but also because of it's use.

Sagar responded to his father, "Well I don't plan to do it to often, so just follow my example."

Garris let out a sigh then put his hand on his son's shoulder speaking out softly, "I just want to make sure she feels her father's love.", he then began to squeeze Sagar's shoulder a bit, "I still feel bad about not being around so much whenever you were younger and not only that but also leaving the responsibility of taking care of your mother to you as well. Whenever I came over to visit while it lightened my mental burden that I had, I always left with a heavy heart."

Hearing his father Sagar put his hand on Garris' that was on his shoulder, "I've told you I don't mind that. You had to do what you needed to do to take care of us and I don't blame you for it. I'm just glad things are better now and that I can not only see mother healthy but also see you more than before."

Garris would have began crying if wasn't around other people but he withheld his tears so as to not worry anybody.

Over at Talia's side Delia was making sure that her daughter was alright by looking all over Talia to see if she had any injury. Trying to reassure his wife Richard spoke out, "My dear I'm sure our daughter is fine you think anything could harm her easily with her barrier."

Richard said this with confidence as he knew how capable Talia was and he was proud because of it was well. Delia instead retorted, "It doesn't matter how strong Talia is I will always make sure she is fine when she comes back to visit.", after seeing that there was not injures on her daughter's body Delia wrapped her in a tight hug making Talia almost unable to breath, "I'm so glad you came back just fine sweetie."

Patting her mother's arm Talia tried to catch her breath after being released, "Yes, mother I'm fine. Like father said with my barrier there's hardly anything that could hurt me."

Delia still wasn't convinced, "Well what about your own spells, they should be able to break that barrier of yours."

Talia was going to respond that she was able to control her spells just fine but before she could she thought back to the incident with golem and realized that her mother was completely right. Seeing his daughter pause for a second Richard called out to her, "Talia, are you okay."

This snapped her out of her stupor and then she remembered what Sagar and Umbra told her whenever they had went to the medical center. Responding to her father with confidence Talia replied while shaking her head, "Yeah I am."

The people outside thinking that they may have spent too much time talking outside made their way inside to continue their discussions.
