5 Mengmeng

In the outskirts of the kingdom a relatively small village was located. Inside a small hut, a young woman was lying down on a wooden bed. Her skin was pale as white and her complexion was not great. She was coughing from time to time. Beside her a little girl was holding a bucket of water and a wet towel in her small little hands. Her eyes were full of worry as she stared at the young woman lying on the wooden bed.

"B-big sister don't worry, Mengmeng will go to the forest to find some herbs for you" the little girl named Mengmeng said with red eyes a clear sign that she had been crying all day because her sister was sick.

Her big sister was her only remaining family member. Both their parents died in the sea when she was still young, at that time her big sister was the one that do everything she can so that they both can live. But now, her big sister was sick, its already a month and there were no sign of her sickness going away. She already asked for help from the doctors of the village, but because she has nothing, the doctors doesn't want to check on her sister. She can only rely on the herbs that she picked up in the forest praying that it can help her big sister recover.

"Little Meng, didn't I said to you that you can't enter the forest. That place is full of magical beasts, what do you think will happen when you encounter one. Big sister doesn't know what to do if anything happens to you" even though she was having a difficult time in speaking. Mengmeng's big sister said to her with gentle voice that was full of worried.

Hearing her big sister, Mengmeng's little body trembled. She knew that the forest was full of dangers, but for her big sister she will do anything just to cure her from her sickness. She stare at her big sister with her big eyes and said, "Don't worry big sister, Mengmeng is small, those beasts won't have any interest in this small body of Mengmeng"

Mengmeng continues to stay beside her big sister until she falls asleep.

After staying beside her sister for a couple more of minutes, Mengmeng picks up a small basket and leave the small hut. She was going to the forest to pick some herbs for her big sister.

"Wu wu wu wu" right now Mengmeng was running for her life. Behind her was a huge snake with three eyes chasing behind her. Her face was pale and full of fear as she continues to run.

Earlier she was picking some herbs peacefully, but who would have thought that when she was returning home she would encounter this huge snake. Her mind was now full of thought of what will happen to her sister if she didn't return home. Just the thought of her sister being alone and sick in the small wooden hut makes her heart ache.

But as she was running, at the end of her vision she saw a young man looking at her with a dumbfounded face. Her eyes immediately brighten when she saw a sword hanging on his waist. Her running speed becomes even more faster and she shouted with all she got, "B-big brother help Mengmeng please wu wu wu"

The young man was Lin Xing, in the middle of his hunt for some system points, he didn't expect that he would meet someone, much less a little girl. But when he saw the huge snake chasing behind the little girl his eyes revealed a cold glint, 'System points'

Holding his zanpakuto and pointing it towards the huge snake, he said with a cold voice, "Shoot to kill"

Immediately the blade of his zanpakuto glows white and extends at extremely high speed towards the head of the huge snake.

As fast as it extends, the blade of his sword immediately reverted back to its original size. The little girl was still running but the huge snake behind her stopped moving. At the center of its head was a thin red line. After several seconds a gush of blood came out from the red line and the three eyes of the snake slowly close. Its huge body fall down the ground and it was not moving. The attack was so fast that the snake didn't even know how it died.

Mengmeng noticing that there were no sound behind her stopped and looked back. What she saw was the huge snake lying on the ground not moving and blood were continuously coming out from the small wound on its head. She turn again and this time she stare at the young man just a couple of feet away from her. Although she only saw the young man pointed his blade at the snake and not see his attack. She knew to herself that it must be some sort of powerful technique for it being able to kill the huge snake easily.

Inside his head, Lin Xing heard what he wants the most, the system notification. Right now he don't know how much system points he has as he doesn't pay attention on his killing.

"B-big brother you are so strong" a bright voice wake up Lin Xing on his own world. When he looked down what he saw was the little girl named Mengmeng looking at him with her big bright eyes. Her eyes were full of respect and gratitude as she stare at him.

Feeling the intense gaze of Mengmeng, Lin Xing clear his throat and held his head high and puffed his chest proudly as if he was waiting for the little girl to praise him more.

"Oh no! I need to return quickly and brew the herbs for my big sister to take" Mengmeng suddenly remembered about her big sister, "Big brother thank you for saving Mengmeng"

Seeing that Mengmeng was about to leave, Lin Xing curiously asked, "Mengmeng base from the herbs in your basket, your big sister is sick right? Why don't I accompany you and let me check your big sister, even though I am young I still know a thing about medicine. Maybe I can help you"

Lin Xing doesn't know why he said those words, he just felt some connection between him and this little girl.

"Wow big brother is what you said the truth? You can really help my big sister?" hearing what Lin Xing said, Mengmeng's eyes brighten and she asked him enthusiastically.

Although he was a killer in his previous life he just can't help but feel some connection between this little girl and him. Especially whenever he look at those bright eyes of hers, it reminds him of his childhood friend when he was young in his previous life. Those bright eyes that makes his world bright, those bright eyes that bring happiness to him, and also those bright eyes that brings the immense sadness inside of him.
