25 Snowfall

Christmas bells ring,

Filling that still silence.

White snow falls,

Covering those dark houses.

Street lamps light,

Illuminating the powered walk.

Wind whispers,

Hushing the waking terrors.

Quiet steps,

And a lone figure,

Are all that are known,

This winter night.

Flushed cheeks and watery eyes,

Trembling lips and sniffling cries,

A bowed head,

Turned down in pain.

Unheard whispers,

And Christmas bells

Fill that still silence,

The only sounds on this winter night.

Pleas of forgiveness,

And tears of regret.

An aching heart,

Yearning for the one it misses.

Broken smiles,

And flickering lights.

A brief joy,

Marveling at the winter wonderland.

A mind stuck in past mistakes,

Regrets filling the empty abyss.

Sorry's and Forgive me's

On their lips.

Not a light to be seen,

Nor a car to be heard.

Twinkling stars,

Watching the world sleep.

All but a lone figure,

Lay warm in their beds.

All but a lone figure,

Dreaming winter dreams.

Puffy eyes and a tear-streaked face,

Red ears and shaking hands.

Hushed whispers,

Of heartache filled words.

A mind stuck in past mistakes,

Regrets fill the empty abyss.

A crumbling bridge,

Back to the present stands untreaded.

Christmas bells ring,

Filling that still silence.

White snow falls,

Covering those dark houses.
