Watching from the depths of the shadows
From the cracks in the walls and holes in the floor
Peering out at the world
As it passes by
Flurries of color and shapes of life
Creeping at the edges of my vision
Crystal clear and shining bright
These glass eyes of mine
Seeing all and seeing none
Dark coating my world
A blanket, smooth and warm
Enveloping all that I knew
No longer do the birds fly
Do the streams flow and the leaves dance
No longer are there sun dappled trees
And emerald grasses
Creeping, crawling, watching
My world as it fades away
Faces and words
Disappearing
Memories of life and love
Are all that remain
Behind these glass eyes of mine
Waiting for my weakest moment
To cover my life in a silken sheet
Peering out from the shadows
From behind tapestries and statues lining the walls
Leaving me stranded in my new world
This world of dark
Where nothing can be seen
And all can be heard
Trapped among memories
And reminders of light
Crystal clear and shining bright
Weeping and hiding
Behind these glass eyes of mine.
