CHAPTER THRITY-NINE - Give me a Tylenol, dear business partner
"Oh. Nevermind. I didn't say anything." Asa said, seeing my expression. I rubbed my forehead. "Never mind what just happened. You left the angels?"
"Yeah. I want to help you." Asa said.
"No," I said, instantly, just as firmly, and holding up a hand.
"But-" Asa tried, and I shook my head again. "You really can't. Help me, I mean. You don't even know what I'm doing." Yep. I didnt want Asa's help. Jk, I did, but it wasn't safe to drag someone else into this mess aside from Noa. "You're reversing whatever the real Amaria did, right?" Asa asked, and my hand wavered. "How do you-" "Angels know a lot." Came the terse reply. I rubbed my temples again. "I dont want to risk it though. I'm fine with being a sacrifice if it means no one else has to suffer." Asa reached out a hand to me, yellow eyes bright and cheerful. "If we do down, let's go down together. I don't mind being a sacrifice either." Ahhhhhhh! "But I've never gotten help before," I whispered, and Asa smiled. Somehow, his stunning good looks were melting my brain. "Maybe that's why you failed." The people around us were murmuring now, and I cast them a few glances. Then, I animatedly leaned forward again and grabbed Asa's hand, shaking it.
"Alright, then! Partners!"
