4 Rumors

"Hello, Anja." A classmate greeted me. I greeted back without looking.

I was walking-sprinting towards my class because my good mother didn't wake me up, causing me to be late. Ugh, the teacher is a strict one. I need to hurry.

I was cramming last night because there's a quiz today, I didn't even get to wash my hair again because I was late. I just braided to the side, it was messy because I'm doing it as I was sprinting-walking. I had long hair that it reaches my waist so letting it loose it'll be a mess if it some wind blows.

"Are you in a hurry?"

"Yes."

"Let's go together."

I didn't answer just sprinting-walking my way through the corridor onto my class.

It was just an ordinary occurrence. But somehow it gets a ruckus after my class.

As soon as I get out of my class, Assie grabs me to grab lunch from the cafeteria. Assie and I are childhood friends, so we tell each other everything and we've seen each other's embarrassing moments. In short, we stuck together.

When we sat down on an empty table she asks me a ridiculous question "Anja, I heard you have boyfriend care to tell me?" Assie said as she forked down the meat as if threatening me.

I only frown, confused at what she's saying. The cafeteria is buzzing with life. I didn't notice it but it seems there's hush whispered around me as soon as I enter the cafeteria.

"Boyfriend, I wished."

"I know you're very popular with both the first and third years but didn't you promised that you would tell me if someone courted you?"

I was surprised when I heard that. I thought she was just joking but it seems like their rumors going around and I'm even surprised. This happened before, even my cousin Maru they thought he's my sugar daddy because of his car that always comes and picks me up. Haaa~ it's so hard to be pretty T^T

"And you find a boyfriend and didn't tell me!?" she continued, "I don't blame you, I just feel betrayed! Why didn't you tell me? We're best friends right?"

🙄 Her and her drama.

"Where did you get that rumor?" I ask as I sip onto the soup of my noodles.

"From everybody!"

I rolled my eyes for no one "What? Who's my boyfriend?"

"That popular soccer jockey!"

"Who exactly?"

"I don't know, they said they saw you walking around with a guy."

"I don't even remember that I'm walking with someone before." As I said those words, I suddenly remembered that someone greeted me, I didn't realize that a simple greeting could turn into a dating rumor.

"So you didn't have a boyfriend?"

"I don't even have someone I like how could I have a boyfriend?

"Really?"

"You'll be the first one who will know."

"You sure?"

"Uh-huh."

Then we eat in peace. I bet she just wants to be the first person to know. She's like that, a gossiper but never really gossip about others. She's just curious and wanting to know everything and being nosey.

I've been friends with her since kindergarten. We worked hard to be in this prestigious high where everyone else is smart. As I said we are stuck together.

I have something to say.

I lied to Assie and I wished I never did.
