39 Hunter Exam (Phase 1)
The hunter told us if we didn't want to be injured or killed to head back to the elevator and we could leave. surprisingly no one left. Killua had a sparkle in his eye, tho Im not sure how big, he was in front of us and little but ahead not to far to the right. Gon had determination to pass.
then the examiner began to march forward, and everyone followed. It was just normal walking for now so I strapped my skateboard on my back and started walking. I would wait to use the skateboard for when we are going faster and more people drop out giving me room. I could then discreetly use my wind magic to push my skateboard forward without pushing myself with my legs.
"of course, no one left." leorio
"i'd hoped a few might withdraw" leorio
after a while we seeded up. just a slight jog, then a regular jog. not a run yet so Ill wait for more people to drop out.
ahead of everyone else the examiner began to talk.
"I have neglected to introduce myself. I am Satotz, your examiner for the First Phase of the exam." Satotz
"I shall Lead you to the exam's second phase." Satotz
he told us this is the first phase and we where to follow him to the second phase. saying he won't be able to tell us where the second phase was being held until we arrived.
It was roughly 10 minutes later I started using my skateboard and I was using wind magic without anyone knowing. I kept going without touching the ground and I didn't get tired. not like I would have tho. Leorio noticed the skateboard and bragged about it being unfair.
30 kilometers later and many applicants where already dropping out. I just kept on ridding along. Then It happened Killua road passed leorio and up to me and gon. He looked at us for a second then.
"hey, how old are both of you." killua
"I'm 12 years old" gon
"12" zero said with a smile
killua looked a little surprised. He kick flipped his skateboard up into the air and caught it with the other.
"ok, Ill run." killua.
I did the same just for more added effect.
"ok, Ill run too." zero
"Im killua." killua
"Im gon" Gon
"Im zero" zero
And we all started to run together and talked along the way. along the way a fat guy with a computer ended up falling down exhausted and being called a loser.
after about 4 hours we traveled over 60 kilometers and leorio looked like he would give up. he stopped and dropped his bag. only for gon to stop also with killua and me. he convinces leorio to keep trying, and then just his fishing rod to get his bag and catch up.
After about 30 more minutes we reached a long passage way of stairs and the examiner just kept going. after another 30 minutes killua asked something interesting.
"gon, zero. want to race to see who finished first." killua said
I suddenly got a smile. I then turned my gravity seal up a little so that I would be evenly matched in speed.
"Sure, The loser has to buy the dinner." gon
"im in" zero
"ok your on." killua.
we each slowed down a little as for why, so that we could gain some neck breaking speeds. we flew by everyone else, up the stairs. while kurapika and gon where talking we rushed passed them.
there where so many people who where failing. we just kept running. when suddenly.
"I'm impressed that both of you can keep up with me." killua
"Really?" gon asked confused.
"really, growing up in the wood with animals, I did gain superhuman senses and maybe endurance as well." zero said with a smile
"maybe it's just that everyone else is too slow." Killua
"Man, the hunter exam is going to be a breeze. thats no fun." killua
"hey, why do you want to become a hunter." gon asked killua
"Me, I'm not really interested in becoming a hunter. I heard the exam was supposed to be really hard, so I thought it would be fun." killua
"huh, really so you have the same reason as zero." gon said with a smile
Killua looked confused for a second until I explained.
"I wanted to try the hunter exam out because it sounded fun." zero
"what about you gon." killua
"well, my dad's a Hunter. so I want to become a hunter, just like him." gon
"huh, what kind of hunter is your dad." killua
"I don't know" gon
"hahaha, that's kinda weird" Killua
"really" gon
"you want to be like your dad, but you don't know anything about him." killua
"I was raised by mito, so I've only ever seen my dad in pictures." gon
"who mito" killua
"she's my aunt, Aunt Mito." gon
"when my dad was twelve, he took the hunter exam too. he passes and because a hunter, Then he left the island. I want to find out why he chose to be a hunter over staying with me." gon
then suddenly there was light at the end of the tunnel. me, gon and killua then speed up to be first. and right when the examiner reached the end and was about to turn around 3 twelve year old's ran pass him yelling goal. he was clearly surprised.
"yay, I win." gon
"what are you talking about? I was faster.." killua
"Im the one who passed first." zero
"I was." gon
"no I was" killua
"nope I was" zero
we each turned to the examiner.
"hey who was faster." gon
"I believe that you crossed the finish lone simultaneously." Satoz
"ok then, killua you buy me dinner. Ill buy zero dinner, and zero will buy killua's dinner." gon
"I don't understand that." kuilla
"hey mister satoz, is this where the second phase of the exam takes place." gon
"No, we still have quite a way to go." Satoz
"oh..." gon
The fog was so thick you couldn't see anything more than ten feet away. slowly but surly everyone started making it out.
the the fog lifted showing a huge forest. the examiner explained about the creatures within and if we wonder off were dead. then the way we came from closed. then suddenly.
I man jumped out all beaten up and holding a monkey like creature.
"don't let him fool you." odd man
"look at this." odd man
he showed the monkey and the monkeys face looks like Mr. Satoz.
"It's a man-faced ape. one of the creatures that dwell in the milsy wetlands. they love the taste odd human flesh and trick there pray. Im the real examiner hes trying to trick you" odd man.
*Thump, Thump, Thump*
three cards embedded themselves inside the odd man. then the other three cards where caught by our examiner.
everyone was shocked beside hisoka, me, and the examiner.
"well, that proves it. you're the real one." Hisoka said looking at the examiner
"examiner are hunters selected by the committee to perform this duty without pay. A simple hunter which we ourselves aspire to be, would have been able to block my attack." Hisoka
"I shall take that as a compliment. However, should you attack me again, for any reason, I will report you for attacking an examiner, and you will be immediately disqualified. are we clear." Satoz
"Sure" Hisoka
the birds then began to eat the dead body of the other fake.
he then told us as hunters we have to face deception anywhere, and told him if they lose him in the forest they will die. I quickly followed behind him, half way through only half were remaining. gon, kurapika, leorio and hisoka were gone so I guess they were confronting him. after about an hour we made it to the exam site of the second phase. we waited another 30 minutes and right before the time ran out gon and kurapika. hisoka brought leorio before gon arrived.
Then satoz declared this the end of the First phase. then when he was out of sight the huge metal door opened.
