37 Getting to the hunter exam

After arriving at the port we got of the boat and the ship captain told gon a short cut. we then made it to a map at which gon told use about the short cut. I already knew that was the way to go so I was right beside gon when we left for it. kurapika came a little after talking to leorio and leorio only came after that for reasons the group didn't know. its because none of the buses made it to that city, rookie mistake, but leorio almost made that mistake.

We began our walk up a very very long path to the cedar tree at the top of the hill, a long way away. while we were walking I Turned my gravity seal on so that I would be training while walking. I got to know alot about them and they asked me question of which I just remembered some random places and things and made the things up as we went.

The we arrived at a small town around the top. not quiet the top but close. It looked empty not even one person in sight.

"what a creepy place. I don't see a single soul around." leorio

"no, there are a lot of people here." gon

"what?" leorio acted scared from that.

"there all around us, with in the houses. you probably just can't hear them leorio." zero

"hear them, all I hear is the four of us." leorio

"thats because you have been raised in a city. because you have lived like a civilian with all the noise around your senses have become dull." zero

"what every" leorio said kinda confused at how our senses can be better than his.

The a door opened. people dressed in while sheets and wigs came out with a cart and an old woman sitting in the middle of the cart.

"w-what's with these guys" leorio

"time for the exciting two-choice quiz!" old woman

everyone looked confused and I was acting

"you boys are headed for that lone cedar tree on the hill, correct?" old woman

"to reach that tree, you must pass through this town. I will pose a single question." old woman

"ok, one question can't be that hard." zero

"you're only allowed 5 seconds to answer, answer incorrectly and you're disqualified." old woman

A guy came from behind us.

"hey hurry it up or im going to go ahead of you." guy

"hey, when did he get here." leorio

"he followed us from the docks" gon

"sorry kid, I just happen to hear your conversation" guy

"Its fine, I doubt he even answer correctly. sure you can go first." zero said with a smirk

"ok fine." guy

he walked forward and was given a question.

"your mother and lover has been captured and you can only save one. who do your save." old woman

the guy looks at her the slaps his buzzer.

"my mother, you can always get another lover but a mother is one of a kind." the guy said with a smirk

she let him pass, though I already knew it was a fake route. Leorio was pissed off at the question its self. while kurapika found out the answer immediately. the old woman threatened to fail us if he didn't keep quiet.

"Your son and daughter have been kidnapped, you may only save one. who do you save." old woman

Leorio was so mad instead of answering he got a piece of wood said the moment the count down hit zero he would attack because the question was rigged. He waited then attacked to his surprised kurapika stopped him. kurapika said they already passed the test. he was shocked to find out the answer was silence.

She then showed us a way, and said that a couple lives in a cabin beneath the cedar tree, that they serve as navigators for the hunter exam and will guild us to the exam site.

We made our way through the tunnel and out into the forest to which, was filled with life. we couldn't see any, but I heard plenty and I smelled them all around us. we slowly made our way to the cabin.

when we arrived at the cabin, it was beautiful. it was directly under the huge cedar tree. we knocked but nobody answered. Leorio opened the door, to his surprise was unlocked. when we entered. the place was smashed to pieces. A man was laying on the ground with a bloodstain and a humanoid fox like creature was standing over him with a female human in his hands. he turned to us with his eyes glowing and started laughing.

"A magical beast" leorio

"A shape-shifting magical beast, the kiriko" kurapika

"they can take human form and are extremely intelligent beasts." kurapika

everyone except me got into a stance to fight.

the kiriko jumped through the window with the girl and started running through the forest.

the guy on the floor started saying things like please save my wife.

Gon and kurapika jumped out the window and started to run after it. I stayed with leorio.

the sun started rising. leorio patched the wounds of the man.

"there your wounds should be fine, no excessive work for a while, and with gon and kurapika im sure your wife is safe." leorio

"thanks" the guy said.

I looked at him for a second.

"your one of them aren't you." zero

he looked shocked by this.

"one of what, I don't know what you mean." guy

"your a kiriko aren't you" zero

he was once again shocked, leorio even more so.

"zero, don't start blaming him, his wife was just taken." leorio yelled.

the guy looked at me defeated.

"how did you know." guy

"I knew because of your smell, that other kiriko was probably your mom. wasen't it. you smell alot like her. your dad is most likely hiding out somewhere for an ambush, and that female you claim to be your wife. she was your sister wasen't she." zero said with a smile

"you can tell all that just by smell" the guy was shocked

"no, not just smell. I can her roughly over 1 mile or so away. I can also her your breathing and heart rate. so when you told us to save your wife your heart beast steadily increased meaning you were lieing." zero

"looked like nothing gets past you huh." he looked at me defeated.

"wait, what just happened." leorio looked on confused.

"don't worry leorio, the kiriko, gon and kurapika will be back shortly then the kiriko will explain everything." zero said with a smile

after about 15 minutes they finally came back to which started to explain.

"Mr. kurapika." kiriko daughter

"yes" kurapika

"you successfully used the most vaguest of hints to determine that we weren't a married couple. Mr kurapika demonstrated that he is very knowledgeable. therefore he passes." kiriko daughter

"Mr. leoiro" kiriko son

"yes" leoiro

"you didn't realize my true identity until zero pointed it out. however, you dressed my wounds, faster and more thoroughly than a doctor would. most importantly, you continued to reassure me that my wife was safe even after zero pointed out my identity. your compassion makes you worthy to take the hunter exam." kiriko son

"and finally gon, and zero" kiriko husband

"yes" gon

"yes" zero

"your superhuman physical abilities and perception make you more than worthy to take the hunter exam. you both pass." kiriko husband.

that night the husband and wife kiriko carried leorio and kurapika because there bigger. finally the kiriko son and daughter carried me gon because we were 12. before we took of tho I had to turn my gravity seal off or else the kiriko would never be able to fly.
