Chapter 3: Upgrade

On top of the tree.

After taking a rest, Dante stood up from the trunk.

It takes an hour for Dante to fully regain his composure and overcome the killing of humanoid creature for the first time.

Although his first fight looks smooth and easy. But he is not really mentally prepared to kill on the first day of his new life, heck he don't even know how to kill a chicken in his previous life.

Even though his cheat allowed him to master a combat skills quickly, but learning and having a psychological quality to use it to kill is something completely different.

As such, his courage to face off a special type of zombie is something commendable despite being only transmigrated for a while.

"Huh...." Dante let out a breathe and look down at the zombies below.

While he was taking a rest earlier, he is also constantly thinking on what anime world did he end up to.

And Highschool of the Dead is basically out of the question, and the only anime that fits with these bizzare zombies is the recently popular Zom 100: Bucket list of the Dead.

Some of the zombies on that world retained their hobbies despite being zombified such as holding their phone and texting, just like what the zombies below were doing.

The protagonist of this anime is a man named Akira Tendou, a typical exploited salary man in japan.

He was once an energetic young man but was beaten up by the society and thus turning himself into walking dead of the modern day slave labor.

What even worse is his crush was a sexcetary of his ugly bastard boss.

If not for the sudden Zombie Apocalypse, Akira might stay the same throughout his life and maybe died someday from overworking.

Somehow, Dante can relate to his life. Before he became a weeb, he was also once a class clown on his school days. But was also beaten by reality turning him into introvert shut-in and basically give up on himself.

Thinking of his previous life, Dante can only shake his head wryly.

Fourtunately he was given a second chance and was grateful about this even if there someone behind his transmigration.

As such, he doesn't care if he ended up something like hero, evil, or anti-hero. All he wanted was to meet his waifus and succesfully embrace them.

After much nonsense going on Dante's head, he cut off this distracting thoughts and focus on his current affair.

Now it's time to harvest experience points!

He stretch his left hand a ball of slime appeared again and quickly took shape of a short bow, and the slime on the right hand took a shape of an arrow.

If possible, he wanted to morph a gun, unfortunately he doesn't know how a gun works.

And if he let the slime devour a gun, he doesn't know if its possible to fire a bullet? Or maybe his cheat will turn the gun into something magical that can fire a bullet without using a gunpowder?

Dante put aside this topic for now and started counting the zombies below and there was about hundreds of them mindlessly walking around his vicinity.

Earlier, he gained 10 points of experience points on mutant zombie loli, so he wanted to test if different type of zombie will also give a different experience points.

Dante loaded the slime arrow and bend the bow into full moon, he lock on one of the slow moving type zombie 10 meters away from him,

The zombie is a middle-aged man dressed in business suit and looked like a succesful man.

He remember that he was the one who pushed a beautiful woman in OL outfit to save his life.

"I hate succesful guy." Dante said in a bitter envious tone, as a loser in his previous life, he doesn't like to get along with them.

So this hateful guy will become his first target. His eyes became focus then took aim at his head.

After an awkward aiming, he let go of the string and stared with concentration as the slime arrow flew out of his bow and then....

Then the arrow landed on the zombie's knee instead of the head.

The zombie stumbled then got up again, while the slime arrow immediately dissolve into a liquid and eventually evaporates and turn into a smoke.

"...." Dante was speechless, well what could you expect from someone who didn't even know how to properly hold a bow.

"Oh... at least it succesfully hit the target tho..."

Feeling embarassed, Dante made a couple of slime arrows again and consecutively shot the zombie in the shoulder, waist, and foot without even hitting the target's head.

Just like on fiction, as long as you don't destroy the head of the zombie, they won't stop moving.

The commotion here attracted the other zombies and they immediately swarmed to his location.

Fortunately, the long awaited notification sounded and saves Dante from embarassment.

[Ding! You have learned Archery Mastery Lv.1]

After he learned archery, a warm energy appeared on his body to enhance his muscles.

"Oh... this feels good." Dante moan comfortably after being strengthened again, he feels that his arms become stronger.

"Shit... I don't believe I won''t be able to hit you now." He regained his confidence and vowed that he would one shot him this time.

Dante took aim with his bow, but now with a proper posture of holding the short bow, he feels that he holds the bow and arrow more comfortably, he then let go of the arrow.

With a sound of *Puchi*, the slime arrow succesfully penetrated the head of business suit zombie.

"Yes motherfucker!" Dante celebrated on obliterating the zombie that embarass him.

[Ding! You killed an "H- Grade" Zombie and you obtained 5 exp points.]

"Eh? Is this slow type zombie considered an H minus grade?"

"Then what about a running type zombie?"

Thinking of this, he quickly lock on this type of zombie and shot it on the head.

[Ding! You killed an "H- Grade" creature, you have obtained 5 exp points.]

"Oh, okay I got it..."

"So the slow and fast moving zombie had the same strength and only the special type or mutant is considered an H grade."

After knowing their strength, Dante counted the remaining zombies surrounding him and there was 131 zombies.

He doesn't know if they are enough for him to level up a couple of times. Anywas just kill them all and you will know and he already had 20 exp points and a 1 point of experience points is equivalent to 1%

So with this, Dante began his killing spree.

[Ding! You killed an "H- Grade" zombie and you have obtained 5 experience points.] x16

[Ding! The Predator Slime level up!]

[Level]: 2 (0%)

[You gained 1 Origin Points!]

"Hell yeah..." Dante beam with joy after leveling up.

"Now then let's see how much experience points they would provide after leveling up."

Thinking of this, he killed a zombie again.

[Ding! You obtained 3 exp points.]

"Only three points this time?"

"Forget it, just be done with this..." Dante shook his head and just start killing all the remaining zombies.

[Ding! The Predator Slime level up!]

[Level]: 3 (83%)

[You gained 1 Origin Points!]

It takes 34 zombies to reach level 3, and after that, he can only gain 1 points for killing 81 zombies.

"Good, good, good," He nodded in satisfaction after killing all the zombies and leveling up.

Now he has three origin points and can upgrade the "Internal Bodily Cleansing" ability.

Fortunately, he didn't use the 1 point earlier, now that he knows that he is in zombie apocalypse.

Of course his priorities is to have an ability to immune to a zombie virus.

Even though he is not afraid of zombie bites with the protection of slime suit, but who says that only through a zombie's bite can someone be infected, it can also be on some food or water source.

Thinking of this, he immedaitely use the 3 origin points.

[Ding! You succesfully upgraded the "Internal Bodily Cleansing" to Level 2.]

Dante quickly check the the capability of this ability after it was upgraded and was surprised to find that this ability was almost on par with Anti-Venom in case of treating diseases and malignant substance.

What's more, the level two ability can now cure the zombie virus easily.

Unfortunately, it still can't do like depriving others mutated ability, otherweise he would try to use this ability if it can remove the zombie virus on the already zombified humans.

Nevertheless, this is already good since he thought he would need to at least upgrade this ability to level three before he can be immune to virus.

"Great... With this, I won't be afraid of suddenly turning myself into zombie." Dante said with joy, now he can focus on upgrading his combat skills or other ability.

"Now it's time to go out of this place and find something to eat," Saying this, he scan the surroundings.

After confirming that there were no more zombies alive, he hook a slime rope and climb down from the tree.

After landing on the ground, he walked towards the dead body of business man zombie and pick up his watch.

"What kind of watch is this? Forget it I'm not really interested on brands, let's see what time is now? Oh, 7:42 AM," After checking the time, Dante let the slime swallowed the silver watch, and a similar black watch appeared on his left hand.

"Hmmm... Then next is to determined if this world was really Zom: 101."

Dante is still brooding over the fact that this is not the world of Highschool of the Dead and he couldn't meet those popular female characters.

His heart aches every time he thinks about not having the chance to touch those... He means, to rescue them from misery...

Dante sighs in disappointment and closes his eyes to recall the plot of this world.

Based on the anime, Akira will stay in his residential building for three days, and it's currently only the first day of the apocalypse.

Maybe Akira is already busy running with excitement after finding out he doesn't need to go to work anymore.

Unfortunately, Dante doesn't know where Akira's home is. Well, Dante isn't really interested in getting to know him, but he knows that Akira will encounter the main female lead at the convenience store on the second day.

He is more interested in meeting Shizuka Mikazuki. By then, he can have his first victi-- errr.... companion.

Now that he doesn't know what to do for a while, first he needs to figure out his current location. Then he can go to the underground mall in Ikebukuro to find the three flight attendants.

The three flight attendants appeared in episode four, and they said that they were trapped there since the zombie outbreak.

Akira and the second male lead, Kencho, will encounter them on the fourth day of the zombie outbreak. Unfortunately, none of the three survive.

So his first objective in this world is to meet them. He wants to see if he can obtain origin points by establishing a contract with characters who don't even survive one episode.

And believe it or not, it's not because he finds them beautiful so he wanted to meet them instead of finding the main protagonist's group.

He really just wants to test if his theory is possible... Really.
