5 Caspian

He tried to get up. He tried to breathe. He tried to move. He couldn't. "Get your ass up and get workin, ya dumb fuck!" The man yelled.

He stared up at the man with blank eyes, hiding the anguish and sorrow he felt on the inside. Blinking, he slowly stood up. I have to do this. If not for me then for her. "Well what ya waitin for!?" The man said, his brows furrowed in distaste.

He picked up the sword trying desperately to show confidence. Though he felt none. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Caspian raised the weapon, his grip faltering. The little girl in front of him looked so frightened. She knew what was about to happen. She was to die- and for what? A meer piece of bread? But as he looked into her eyes he saw not terror-but defiance.
