The tears of children, the screams of the elderly, they constantly whisper in my ears. I feel as if I have become deaf, unable to block out or ignore all that I see and hear. I feel the pain, the sorrow, the fear deep within me. But what about those who witnessed and experienced firsthand the killings of their comrades, relatives, siblings, and friends? I can't even begin to imagine their anguish.

Until...

"You cannot go outside the fence, it's dangerous " my mother slowly approached me, gently stroking my hair.

As I stared at the vast and thick wall, a multitude of thoughts raced through my mind.

"But I can't ignore their cries," I pleaded, my voice filled with determination.

She gently held my face in her hands, her touch a mixture of comfort and caution.

"I understand your heart, but there is a time and place for everything. You are still just a child," she said softly.

"Kai, you will understand in time," she added, her voice filled with a bittersweet wisdom.

And that was the last afternoon I would spend with my mother. She passed away, not because of the darkness that lay behind the wall, but because of me. It was my fault, and I would carry the weight and guilt of that burden for the rest of my life.

The guilt gnawed at my soul, intertwining with the memories of her love and sacrifice. I blamed myself for not heeding her warnings, for not staying by her side. The weight of my actions pressed heavily upon me, suffocating me with remorse.

Every day, I carried the guilt like an invisible shackle, a constant reminder of the consequences of my choices. The wall that surrounded me became a physical manifestation of the barrier between my past and my future, a constant reminder of the pain I had caused.

I took a deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest as I witnessed the brutal scene unfolding before my eyes. The armed individuals, consumed by violence and power, showed no mercy to those they deemed as enemies. Fear gripped me tightly, and I knew that if I didn't act quickly, I would be caught in their clutches.

Without a second thought, I turned on my heels and ran as fast as my legs could carry me. Every step echoed with the sound of my racing heartbeat, my breath coming in ragged gasps. The darkness of the night became my ally, providing cover as I weaved through alleyways and dodged behind crumbling buildings.

As I ran swiftly, I could feel the enemy closing in on me.

Suddenly, I saw my mother emerge from the shadows of the night. Her eyes were filled with determination and love.

The enemies arrived, filled with anger and violence. They mercilessly killed my mother's comrades, the brave individuals who sacrificed their lives for our safety.

I witnessed my mother, kneeling on the ground, her eyes filled with pain and love.

"Run, it's only you, change it!" iyun ang huling habilin saakin bago lagutan ng hininga ang ina ko.
