14 Gearing Up & Exiting The Town

As Mason scanned the contents,He saw a few items,Mason truly appreciated this gift.

what was contained in the bag was a small dagger, a short bow and arrows,Also pieces of leather armour which were dyed a sickly green colour.

Grom appreciating his own work as it layed on the floor.

"Don't mistreat this stuff, it took a lot of work to make such items for a little'un ,It was good experience forging it through "Grom chuckled to himself.

Grant looked at his son happy that his gift was well received which Grant could tell just by looking at Mason's eyes.

"Good you like it, i though that if i want to train you i can't have you just use theory and body training "

Mason realised how flawed it would be to use an adult bow due to the strength needed even with the training and essence, but he was more confident with the short bow provided as it was tailored towards Masons current strength, As Mason put tension on the string he used most of his strength and brought the sting to his cheek, He let it release and a twang of the string releasing the pressure vibrated in the air.

'This is good,i can probably hunt small game and weaker skinned medium game '

Grant said "Looks like you are already getting accustomed to it , lets get you equipped and set off "

The assistant and Grant in joint effort attached leather armour to Mason as Grom observed his work in satisfaction it was coming together.

After fitting Mason stretched, He was happy to find that the leather armour made negligible noise in the lower decibels in the hearing of a human at least and didn't restrict movement.

Beaming with a smile he picked up the sheath and quiver and put them on and said respectfully

"Thank you "

Mason reverently bowed to the Smith and his apprentice and also to his farther separately

Grom chuckled "Thank me by bringing me a rabbit with some meat on it "

Both Grom and the apprentice then set off back to there work

Grant looked at his son equipped and ready

"Now let's get going before we lose too much sun"

They both strode out, As the exited the smithy and re-entered the commoners district, they paced for a bit and reached another district, this was a squalor and after that a large stone wall surrounded the whole city ,As Mason paced through this area he realised how he was not born in the gutters and was happy about where he was and contempt in it, He realised that maybe being a hunter isn't too bad of a lifestyle but another concept disrupted these blissful thoughts, The nobles are in the centre ,then commercial, commoners and the squalor, this is clearly a stock gap for attacks and the Nobles will perish last in a attack, it was a cruel reality reinforcing the segregation between people.

As they passed through the squalor the wall came into view, it was a immense stone structure of no less than 44 ft ,A archway was in the middle of the wall with a prevalent metal gate raised with a black sheen to it as it shone in the daylight . There were a guard posted their standing at attention while patrols lined the walls all around.

As the guard in full plate noticed Grant he shouted, A old raspy voice was heard

"Grant, Morning "

Looking at the leather bound boy at Grants side he said

"Guessing your son I presume, is the reason you're not at your normal time, You have to Introduce me "

Grant pointed at the guard "This is Walter, he is the gate guard, This is my son Mason"

The plate armoured guard approached Mason while his armour clanged together showing the shoddy quality. Walter reached towards Mason and rubbed Masons head "So this is your son your so proud,*addressing Grant *You need to pipe down when your drunk or you're going to embarrass the kid"

Mason felt warm and proud of himself that his father didn't show it all the time but he was proud

"Enough of that Walter, Im taking little Mason here for some practical training so if you wouldn't mind "

Walter chuckled to himself, he looked into Mason's eyes as if reminiscing

"That's fine by me , Good luck Mason, i would probably break under Grants training regiment, Hope he didn't put you through hell to reach this point he is allowing you outside the town "

Grant looked dejected as if remembering an old topic he didn't care to speech to much about.

Mason pondered where his father's position was or previous, Maybe he was a hunter trainer in the town's militia Mason Presumed, No wonder his father was like a drill Sergeant and was so proficient in his craft.

Grant looked at his son daydreaming and sighed as he got used to seeing that face after so many times.

"Mason, Do not daydream anymore. You need to be focused or i will send you back "

Mason jolted to action and was at attention as if a teacher noticed him sleeping in class.

Mason looked through the archway, There was a lush forest and Greenfield outside, this is the first time he will be exiting the safety of the town

Grant disturbing Masons though said with confidence and excitement

"Now then lets get going, Its time to hunt"
