An Unseen

"If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be?" Louis asks me out of nowhere as he leans against the banister. "I don't know," I muse while thinking about his question. His question isn't really something I've ever offered much thought towards. But now replaying the words in my head makes me ponder my past a bit deeper. "There's nothing I'd want to change," I finally answer, absentmindedly twirling a piece of my brown hair between my fingers. "What about you?" Louis looks away. "There was a time when I would've given anything to be anywhere else in the world," he mutters, "I even wished I was someone else." "What about now?" I ask. "Is there anyone who you wished you could switch lives with?" I look around our dim surroundings, hearing laughter in the background. Louis and I could go interact with everyone else, but we decided a personal conversation was more satisfying. When I put my gaze back on Louis, I find him already staring at me, looking deep in thought. His gaze goes around the hall a few times before they fall back on me. "Yes," he says it so low, I almost don't hear him. He seems to not believe his answer, because he frowns at his words, shakes his head, then puts on a smile. "No, of course not. I never had anyone that I looked up to, so there wasn't anyone I wanted to be." --- LIAR! ---
