A Fated Death

Patience.

Patience is a virtue.

The most fundamental aspect of success in life is patience; pure...unadulterated patience.

For a human, it is hard people to master the art of patience, for me, the hardness increases a hundredfold.

I was bored.

I am going to be really honest with myself as I gazed at the musical performance of the orchestra.  I mean I loved music don't get me wrong, but this kind of music; It is the kind of music that would put you to sleep. It doesn't matter how loud it is, at least to me.

At the beginning of it, I held brief flashbacks of movie and comic book scenes from the same orchestra event that happened before Bruce's parents' death.  Maybe, how loud the music was too. However not even thirty minutes into it, I started to get bored.

I used this to practice my own patience skill, I realized that even with a skill as small of a level as patience;  could be used to better improve my own mentality and overall actions during times so slow.

Become like water...

It was then I noticed something...I noticed Bruce was looking around frightened he looked from left to right, at the ceiling. My mind flashed back to the Batman Begins movie, how the music reminded Bruce of the bats from where he had fallen.

"Bruce...Bruce...you have to relax." I whispered, "It's in your head..."

"I-i... can't..." he whispered, the sheer terror in his voice made me frown in concern, I know he had an unhealthy fear of bats, but was it truly that bad? Perhaps I underestimated just how afraid of bats Bruce Wayne actually was.

Thomas looked  at Bruce, his face also etched in concern,  "Bruce...do  you want to leave?"

Bruce continued to glance around in fright before he quickly and shakily nodded his head. "Come on..."

Thomas picked up Bruce, I and Martha stood up too, before we walked through the benches to the center of the hallway.

"Excuse us," Thomas said gently, as we both made our way to the back of the building. My eyes narrowed as a robber slowly became visible from the distance. The robber I sort of recognized from the movie Batman Begins up to him, and put the gun in front of him, causing everyone to gasp.  Thomas slowly put his hand in front of him...

"Easy..." he said slowly as Martha quickly put Bruce behind her. My mind once again flashed back to the scenes of Batman begins, I knew this was the moment that things would change.

The choices I have here are; do I allow things to play as fate predicted them to be? Let innocent people who have cared for me die just for Batman to exist. Or....do I save Thomas and Martha, give Bruce a childhood, and force Batman to come into play myself?

As I  saw Thomas slowly hand him the  wallet, the gun never moved from the robber's hand, as the robber stared at Thomas then at Martha, then at Bruce...before he stared at Thomas once more.." easy Easy-

*BANG!*

As the sound of the gunshot echoed throughout the alley; everything went in slow motion.

The answer became clear.

I took a step and became a blur leaving only an afterimage in my wake not only catching the bullet, but I knocked the robber into the wall the gun hit the floor.

Mission; Saving Bruce Wayne's parents; successful.

It was at that moment I found myself in a different location...a dark...dark location...filled with skulls everywhere...

and.

Why does my power feel like it's increasing...

"So you are the one who had taken the souls from my grasp." a voice suddenly rang out from behind me. Curiously causing me to turn I let loose a flat stare; of course, she's here.

"Endless Death..." I whispered on guard slightly, "Why do you greet me?"

Yes, in front of me was non other than the infamous goth woman herself.

"Why should I not outsider?" Death tilted her head curiously...Endless death, not Mistress death, holy shit, this is a whole different ball game here. "Why should I not be interested in the soul that changes the fate of others,  Why should I not be interested, in a child born from an outsider, and a Kryptonian, one of the mightiest races in the universe?"  She continued.

"Why should I not be interested in the one who does not fear me, but at the same time, does not underestimate me simply because I take the form of a young woman? Why can I not be interested in a soul, whose energy is connected to my own, and  more importantly, why should I not be interested in a soul I cannot claim as my own...that is something that's rare for any soul in any universe."

I stared at her, calmly analyzing the situation and processing the answer she had just spoken. Those were all valid reasons, and most of them I knew. However, I hadn't expected to come face-to-face with her so soon. Her power is incredible and at the same time; I feel my own power rising.

As I looked at her,  my mind also flashed back to who Endless Death was; multiple comics involving her and what she has done including some Marvel comics.

As much as I loved reading about her in my past life by watching fanfictions and comics as well as videogames, I know for a fact that she is not someone you would want to mess with without some type of plan in my case, only if you have knowledge of her...

So...now that I have that out of the way, I think the best option at this current moment would be to...

"Nope....." I said flatly opening my hands in a circular motion, as golden sparks followed my movements in the air; Cutting a hole through space-time.

"Not dealing with this today."

After I said those 5 words I walked through it before it closed behind me. Death's eyes widened at my complete dismissal for a split second, not expecting someone who knows who she is to act like that.

There was a moment of silence, as she stared at the spot where I was in.

To her, I was a rare soul. To her, I was a person she could not claim, a soul whose consciousness she could not read.

It was a soul that did not fear her but at the same time did not love her, it was cautious, a soul not foolishly embedded in its own small-minded pride.  It was a soul...a soul that she was most important.

Intrigued...

She continued to stare at the spot where I had left before slowly; her lips quirked upwards to form a small grin. A grin that would normally make most men who knew her shudder; a certain glint formed in her eyes.

She gave a small chuckle.
