Fast on your feet

The light of dawn slowly shines upon the horizon as most of the early birds rise to start a new day with great enthusiasm, but some weren't so optimistic about what was to come.

From the porthole daylight slowly spreads throughout the room before inching towards the sleeping beauty beneath the soft fluffy sheets. The sunlight casts its warm glow on the girl as a form of greeting to welcome the girl to a new day. To others, it might signify that it's going to be a good day but to our protagonist, it signifies the start of a catastrophe that will soon arrive as the day goes on. As soon as the light reaches her eyes she opens them with great vigilance and a sharp glint could be seen from her eyes as she gets up from the mess of sheets and heads for the restroom to freshen up before heading towards the ship's deck.

Amora's instincts are blaring off in her head as she feels the vibes of danger are much stronger today than that of yesterday making it obvious that today is going to be fraught with hardships with the need to survive whatever was coming.

"During the day of this ship's departure from the mainland there were far too many people who were boarding the ship to get the exact number, and from what I have seen there were well over two thousand passengers and a little over sixty percent of the passengers consists of families with children. The things happening right now is just the calm before the storm... troublesome to the point of insanity because my main concern right now is how to get all those passengers to safety especially the children without causing wide panic that's if they would believe me."

Time is ticking away as Amora is her working mind to the limit with the weight of many lives depending on her pressing down on her shoulders. Amora took out something from her breast pocket that resembles a decorative coin that contains some mechanisms that create illusions on either side of the coin when triggered. As she turns the coin around to see the other image on the other side of the coin a tiny little slot could be seen in the swordsman's empty scabbard. Amora hesitated for a second then grabbed for the locket around her neck and open it to see a picture of an old man and an emblem of sword and shield in the locket, her fingertips brushed against the picture shakily before taking the sword within the emblem.

The tiny sword that was taken from the locket was of a typical European medieval design which was scaled-down to half the size of a toothpick. The sword was slowly inserted into the decorative coin causing an unlocking sound to be heard as one of the mechanisms was triggered causing the coin to split open. Inside the coin was a tiny red blinking light and a small red button with the commonly seen emergency symbol and without pause Amora's finger firmly press down on the red button before closing the coin and setting it back into her breast pocket.

"I hope they will arrive on time later because the number of casualties will not be insignificant if they're even ten minutes late with how much my instincts are blaring at the possible danger that will soon arrive later today. I don't know what'll transpire later on, but it would be quite ideal for the passengers if they arrive at the juncture before calamity strikes."I spoke silently under my breath as I made it to the bridge where I know the captain and some of the crew members that control the ship will be.

'knock' 'knock' 'knock'

"Hello Captain, are you there? can you open the door please, because I'm here to tell you something that you might find to be quite grave, please open the door, I'm here to discuss with you."

The sound of the knob twisting from the other side could be heard as the door swung open to reveal a tall yet fit middle-aged man in a white uniform befitting of a captain who stood there with a face full of seriousness. His greyish green eyes slowly searched around glinting solemnly then flashed with recognition upon noticing her face. The man's face frame by curly golden locks had sharp yet soft facial structure, thin lips that formed a slight frown as his goatee complements his well-defined and chiseled features. He gestured towards me with his eyes to head inside as he stepped to the side for me to get in.

The room was filled with men and women discussing things seriously with slightly hushed voices and their faces looking grim. As I was getting closer to the group one of them noticed me then started shouting without taking a second to analyze my face.

"Hey lady this isn't a room where you can just walk in without proper authorization! So turn around and get your f****n a** out of here."

The captain who was behind me had a face that could be described as gloomy and pissed at this point because he knew of my identity and right now I have a feeling that things will become quite dicey for the dude who shouted just now.

"Cedric... if you have a brain or even an ounce of common sense you would have the patience to realize just who this young lady that you have voluntarily screamed at with such vulgarity is, and the consequences of your action will not be light." The captain said in a low voice that was barely above a whisper but these words are deafeningly clear to the group in front of me as the temperature dropped and silence echoes in the room from the realization of just who I was.

The vulgar man went pale as his body started to perspire large amounts of sweat soaking up his uniform at a very visible rate. My thoughts on this were 'how on earth is this man sweating to the point of soaking his clothes in a mere few seconds.' This is quite mind-boggling but this is not what I'm here for though.

"Let's just get on to the more pressing matter right now before deciding on what to do with this vulgar mouthed idiot later because my instincts are blaring that danger is closing in, so chop-chop let us get this show on the road because this matter needs you to move fast on your feet or else many lives will be at stake especially children so we need to discuss how to gather everyone in one area of the ship without causing widespread panic across the passengers, as I've already sent a signal to the closest land authorities for emergency evacuation on my way here," I said while looking through one of the ship's portholes checking to see if there are any changes to the weather. "The wind seems to be picking up and the ocean's current is getting stronger... it seems we are going to get a pretty nasty storm coming with all the alarm bells in my head ringing. So let's get this done quickly."

"Miss, how would you know that some disaster will be arriving soon?" said a woman with Asian features and dark hair and eyes.

"If you know who I am, you should know I'm quite well known for my instincts for danger as I've experienced surviving multiple scenarios like assassination, wilderness survival, and much more while trying to live up to my late adopted grandfather's name and keeping those greedy fools' mitts of his hard work and bringing it to the ground," I said as I got ready to head out.

As I reach for the door my hand slightly paused at the handle then I turned my head subtly to the right and said "Don't forget about gathering the passengers." then turned the handle and left the bridge with a little wave. "Let's get things done" I said under my breath as I walk under the slowly gathering clouds.
